My first blog: A dream...
2009-10-04 00:21
Who am I?
To start with, I will introduce myself as a new blogger, or how you could name it.
Well, my name is Glenn, and i'm a 15 year old boy. In the end of this month, I will turn 16. I'm from Belgium, as you can see on the flag putten before my nickname ;-)

I like writing, so heres my first blog called "A dream...".

A dream...
Like many other young-aged boys, I've got a dream. A dream, that many people want to reach, getting to the top of something. In my fact, in counter-strike 1.6.

The beginning
It all began in 1999 or 2000, as I was a little boy of 6/7. My father had got fired from his job, and went to start gaming. One of the first games he played was Counter-Strike, I often sat next to him, because I liked watching it. Sometimes, if he had to go the toilet, I could try it. I tried it, and liked it. My brother also tried it, and also liked it. The next year, we got an own computer with counter-strike on it. Without an internet-connection. We still were very happy as this became the start of our "carreer". We start playing against podbots and shooting random on walls. Our father began a clan, with persons of his age. As we still didnt had an internet-connection, we were getting better and better. Shooting real-persons is nothing compared to playing bots. It became a question that I often asked to my parents: "When do we get Internet?". When we got internet, we were happy as ..., yeah, I dont know what I could fill in there.

My first lanparty
My first lanparty was on my 8th age, if I still remember it very well.
It was a lanparty organised by my father for his clan. As we practiced alot, we didnt came in as a noob. My brother and I played against the more experienced and older players, but we still owned them sometimes. I played with the name "turbokid". The lanparty was fun, something I miss these days ... :(
My father organised two more lanpartys, as we were also there. There was even filmed when I was playing, on an age of 9 or younger. Sometimes, my father shows it again, always fun to see it.

Zarok
Not a sorth of clan, but I guess this was a (sort of)community that was found under (www.counter-strike.be). If this is advertising, I will remove that link.
Anyway, my father was active in that community, and went to a lanparty of it, and I came with him. It was like, the first "international" lan that I went too. Well, it was held in Belgium, where I come from, but there were alot of "outsiders". I mean by "outsiders" people that doesnt speak dutch. I played against persons much older than me, and boys of my age that I owned with my both eyes shut.

Knifing
As the shooting became boring, I suddenly found a map with "ka_" in front of it. At this period, there were only a few servers that runned knifemaps often. As I was curious about this, I discovered that it was just playing with a certain limit of weapons (a knife, sometimes a bomb). I got really into it, and started playing under the name $creamie. Some guys could recognize me, some guys wouldn't. I made many friends in those few years I got into knifing.

Back in the gunworld
I got bored of knifing, and started with shooting again. Playing a lot of wars and getting better and better. There werent good clans that I could fit in, because of my age, or other reasons. I couldn't blame them. I started alot of clans on my own, joined alot of clans, played alot of wars and just became better and better. I never found that clan, where I could go playing counter-strike on an higher level. The compitive-level.

Computerproblems
In those years I played, I was forced to stop playing cs due computerproblems. Now, i'm typing this on a notebook. The computer is broke since beginning of July, but has now brang to the store.

That one clan...
I never played in leagues or cups, I never had the chance to enter it. Never found that clan, that wants to get higher. That clan, that wants me. However, I still didnt lose the hope of this "dream".
When my computer is fixed, I will be back into business: looking for a clan, getting better, and many other things will be a part of it.

The end of this blog is reached, hope you liked it. I will write a few more blogs this "night" as it is 0:20 this moment. Those blogs wont be going about myself, it will go about things I found out in these years playing.

And, I hope you can understand my written English. And I hope i'm good enough that you guys (and not forget girls) could enjoy my writing skills.

Peace
Good read , keep it up !
btw. how old was your father since he started playing Counter-strike ? :D

He's about 42 now, and I'm almost 16. So take a roughly 26 years difference. About 32/33 I guess :)

2009-10-04 01:05:11
No, lols.
I practiced against podbots when I got a shared-computer (with my brother) as mentioned in the blog.
By the way, I'm writing my second blog now.

Very nice blog, and we've allot in common I also have that dream of becoming a Top player, and just like you I've always had problems finding the right clan for me. I started many and entered many but here in Portugal allot of clans are filled with players who are realy (but REALY) imature and dont want to get to a upper lvl. So atm Im just doing gathers till I find the right clan.

Keep the blogs coming, gl :)

interesting story - i hope you'll try writing more of those blogs.

your beggings were very similar to mine. i remember going to cafes with some friends from school at the age of something between 10 and 12 and playing cs with much older guys who were there. we learned a bit there, but still not enough to play with people over the internet(there was only one pub server in poland at that time anyway), so i practised at my super-slow pc with podbots as i had no connection at the time at home. now, im 18, playing still, not going to stop ;).
