Hello guys i am an Engineering student (computer science)
I have wasted 3 years of my life playing counter strike ...
There is just no scope of gaming in South Asia ... We have some very skilled player but they are n00b when compared to neo , f0rest , XizT etc cause they don't play tournaments away .....
After completing my degree I would like to promote this game and have decided to open a GaminG Franchise for upcoming gamers .
In INDIA we have one of the world's most number of billionaires and yes India has come a long way what was it 5-6 years back . . . . haha but they don't give shit about any other sport than Sponsoring Cricket (Hockey is India's National Game) , same is the scenario of football.
I have dedicated so much time and yes MONEY on CS that it feels very annoying now ..
At least there should be sponsors for good teams like NSD,Rogues,Aim2Game etc ... We have SteelSeries And Razer in India but they don't take Indian Gaming scenario as seriously as in N.America or Europe
Lets see what will happen to Good Indian Gamers ..

sponsors are not problem only in India, but also in some other countries...i might have no good players and say that is because of sponsors, but in other countries there are top lvl guys, still do not have sponsors and spend they own money to go for outside tourneys^ it is like football if you want to play you will...

but you see you can't make a living out of gaming here without any backing .. and at least we should have one sponsored team to International tournaments

you are living near to singapore or malasia is also near, so why don't some of the players buy tickets ~ i guess they won't be so expensive, to go to one or two tournaments ? also you can try to help them ~ first of all create one best team... which will win all tournaments inside the country, after write to razer and make some conversation with them, make a statement, that it might also help to sell their products in one of worlds fast growing economies country^

Gaming is non existent in Aus pretty much, We have about 150 CS 1.6 players still playing.
we have 2 teams playing..and one of them i guess already disbanded (in Uzb) :) still that teams wins Na'Vi and is the best in central asia)
Yeh, but your surrounded by other countries you can play with others in neighbouring countries where as in australia we can only play vs aussies and a few kiwi;s not to mention our country is massive so there are huge handicap issues with latency.. also for a developed country we have relatively poor internet in comparison to countries like sweden, korea etc.
what about same singapore and other asians? i guess you can go there...but still some of players mahy be are living in melbourne, that makes transportation fckn expensive :/ BUT...Australia is big..you should have loottsss of players...)
As far as my analysis goes... India has sponsors, frachise, all what any player or athelete needs.
But there are NO dedicated players... Say it riders for MotoGP, drivers for formula one, atheletes for olympics. No body wants to RISK their careers (tell me they are not worried about placements!)

Billionaire in Indian money I presume? If every country had such a weak currency as the rupi, a shitload of Europeans and Americans would be millionaires and a lot more billionaires.
But anyway, gl with this. Maybe things will open up when your society evolves further than it already has. :)

I'm just saying that it's a lot easier to become a billionaire when for example 100 rupies are worth 9 NOK(Norwegian kroner), which by the way is a fairly weak currency by western standards.

I know there are billionaires in India. However, India doesn't have the highest number of billionaires in the world, as the blogger stated before he edited the blog.
Indians are so mad about this it seems. The really "sad story" is that these people probably think that the existence of billionaires is the perfect evidence of a country's success, when it's in fact a sign of inequality when you look at India's GDP per capita and HDI.

Hey , yes Rupees is weak now more than ever, billionaires are rated in Dollars not rupees. there are 3 indians in top 10 richest men. :) but it doesnt prove the fact that india sucks due to its corruption . :( and its developing inspite of illiterates running the country ! the so called ministers !

Billionaire in general is considered in dollars. It is true it's not the highest number in the world since it is America but it is definitely in the top league.

Also I would like to add that it is sort of common sense when someone says billionaire, it is considered in dollars. I mean, when someone says "There are many Japanese billionaires". The thing i that I knew India didn't have the highest number of billionaires. Not even near the highet number, as shown in your link. I'm fully aware of what's common knowledge about this, I was just asking the guy if he was talking about rupi billionaires, as that would be a totally useless currency when comparing billionaires by country.

1. Understand the Indian Gaming Scene.
2. Understand how sponsorship works. It ain't any charity that they will give you money based on the emotional drama that you create.
3. Ask your friends to show up at LAN events. Indian LAN events are no match to International events. We have more population, But not in gaming.
4. SteelSeries / Razer or any gaming gear companies cannot fund teams in India. Even if they do, they cannot even meet 10% of their expenses. You need big investors like Intel / AMD / NVIDIA / Samsung / LG / Dell etc., who can "INVEST".
5. Changes don't happen instant, Have patience. Complete your Engineering.

I've heared that in India there are only 1% of people rich, but... the point is that it's really a lot of people :)
why are you wasting money in engineering if you want to open a gaming franchise.

"Throw money at it" is not the solution. Money is only ONE of the problems that indian gaming scene has.
1. Non steamers should buy steam
2. Ppl should show up at lan events
3. Hunt for sponsors, make a ppt and a website, go behind new companies that need advertising
4. Practice well, even 2 days a week (8 hours on sat n sunday) should do. but it should be quality practice.
5. Anaylse every match after its over and make sure utalk b4 every match about things u plan to implement, playing for fun sake or playsake is just gonna get more fights in the team !

Dude! Steelseries and Razer are there in india but not direct the companies which move Razer and Steelseries products in India are just main distributors for India Thats it. But Still u can see the upcoming sponsors ATE already got sponsors from CM Storm and NSD from Ozone i guess. I dunno about Razer. But Steelseries we are working out on it.

bro,we are definetly getting better in CS 1.6 though it's going to take few more yrs.we have seen a+e agains SK in 2008.shooting nd movement are almost same.India Rokzzz :)
