Hi people from hltv.
Later of i have readed some threads about lose weight, workout, supplements, and others, i decided realize blogs about these kind of issues.

Some clarifications:
As we all know, here in hltv like in another forums, always happens some discussion about the threads and blogs, I will just put my knowledge about this issue, no more.
My intention is not generate conflicts, disputes or whatever, I just want to put some tips about this field, or if you want to ask me some question, just send me a personal message, I'll be happy to answer you in a blog.

Well, i'll begin…

Today my topic will be diets for lose weight.
This issue has generated controversy and doubts for a long time, due to different things, for example bad information, old beliefs, and others.


First:
We all know that if we want to lose weight we must eating fewer carbohydrates, but level of carbohydrates should not be less to 100 (people who are totally sedentary).
If you do some sport or cardio activity, the ingest must be over 250, you want or NOT!

WHY?
No one wants to be a skinny boy/girl, is better to see one guy with a good muscle mass, and muscle definition, or a girl with small waist, and toned buttocks.
Also there’s something that no all know, something called ketosis.
The first negative effect which ketosis generates is production of fat to create energy. Others problems that we would have:
• Loss of muscle mass.
• Dizziness and headaches.
• Strong smelling urine.
• Heavy sweating.
• Lack of appetite.
• Nausea.
• Calcium loss.
• Possible arrhythmias.

Second:

Something that always we ignore is the CALORIES.
Calories are totally necessary to create muscle mass and are one of power source.
Many believe that if we ingest any calories we have the best body but NO.
Minimum calories that we must consume are those of our basal metabolism.

What is the BASAL METABOLISM?
Is the minimum of calories that we must consume to live.
One of the methods to calculating is as follows:

• Men: 66,473 + (13,751 x mass (Kg)) + (5,0033 x height (cm)) - (6,55 x Age (years))
• Women: 655,1 + (9,463 x mass (kg)) + (1,8 x height (cm)) - (4,6756 x Age (years))

An example:
You are a man with this characteristics:
Age: 20.
Weight: 75kg.
Height: 178cm.

So, the calculate is as follows:
66,473 + (13,751*75) + (5,0033*178) – (6,55 * 20)
66,473 + 1031,32 + 890,58 – 131 = 1857,37

One guy with these Characteristics needs 1857,37 Calories per day. If you do cardio activity, you need few more calories, but do not overdo, just with 200 more is sufficient.


Third:

HOW OFTEN I SHOULD EAT?
Well, many people believe that eating two or three times a day they will lose fat, but NO, you just will lose muscle mass and creating fat as energy reserves.
It's very strange but later of one time with an excessively low calorie diet, Muscle mass is converted into fat. This is an emergency metabolic process.
We must eat five or six times a day, trying not to starve.


Four:

SO WHAT SHOULD WE EAT?

Primarily, Avoid starches, and eat fish or chicken meat, juicy fruits and toast at the morning, nuts before sleep, and vegetables legumes of all kinds in the lunch and dinner.

isn't irrelevant ,in a Long term there's metabolism changes, also i'm in the world of bodybuilder, I have trained many friends, and they follow my recommendations, having good results. there's no bodybuilder that i know eats 3 times a day.

Okay bromeo, now go learn some nutrition basics and then come back to me. You're in the world of bodybuilding, unfortunately you're everything that's wrong with it. Spreading myths and bullshit via blogs like this is exactly how people get confused and believe in old myths (that have been debunked several times in the past, read the article above). Competitive bodybuilders may have difficulties to get their daily calorie intake from only two or three meals, that's the main reason for them eating so frequently. There ain't a scientific reason.

Meal frequency is irrelevant in terms of body recomposition, getting your daily macronutrients is way more important. I assume you're talking about the thermic effect of food (TEF) when referring to the metabolism changes. TEF is regulated by the amount of energy consumed, NOT the frequency of meals. It doesn't matter if you eat 1000 calories split into 3 meals or eat them in one sitting, you get the same effect. I personally eat two or three big meals each day, followed by a 16-20 hour fast.

One should choose whichever meal patterns that fit their lifestyle. The best diet is the one that you can stick to in the long term.

"Negative effect of ketosis is consuming fat to be an energy source." That is actually the positive effect.

You don't just need fewer carbohydrates, you also might need a low fat diet. Not every diet applies to every person you know..

dude I've some doubts... because I've atleast 83kg and 168cm how much should I walk in 6km/h in cardio training? and what more should I do.. to be to have ideal body quickly... I eat 4-5 times a day... when i wake up i drink milk and yogurt.. in Lunch i eat some times mass and rice with meat or fish.. and some legums and 3-5 hours later i eat some yogurt and fruit... and in the dinner is the same as in lunch do u think im doing it right?

to lose fat reduce your speed so you can be able to run for a long time, normally you should work at 70%/80% of your maximum heart rate to improve your resistance, but if you want to lose weight (you must lose weight to have a "ideal body", or all the muscular work will be hidden under the layer of fat), you should work out in a maximum of 60% of your maximum heart rate

1- drink milk with oats.
2- 1 banana
3- legumes, fish, and 75 grams of rice.
4- 2 apples.
5- pumpkins and cooked carrots, and 150 gr of chiken.

you must train 3 times a week, and one of them, before of the breakfast.

I lost 35 kilos by cutting down the calorie intake drastically. I know people say that it's not good for you, but it worked perfectly for me.

I ate around 1000 calories each day and I lost weight incredibly fast. Never found any negatives to it. I didn't lose visible muscle mass, I didn't starve (well, I bit at first.) I simply ate less carbs, more proteins and fat and as I said kept the calorie intake around 1000.

So I have to say it's all about how many calories you eat compared to how many calories you burn.
Pretty simple, really.

7-8 months. But I did slow it down in the end, cheating a bit :P
The majority of my weight loss was in the first 3-4 months.

35 kg? if you really lost 35 kg, I don't think you have not lost muscle mass, Also if you're fat, you will lose more fat than someone of medium weight.

"Primarily, Avoid starches, and eat fish or chicken meat" I just love when someone says this, it's like: dude, eat this meat instead of this bread. I say no, fuck you. Bread, whole-bread, has dietary fibers, has some amount of protein, its not only "omg carbs omg kcals".
I eat meat don't get me wrong, but even if you want to lose weight, cutting all the carbs is not the way to go.
Just go outside, and run, run like hell !

Urgent Help needed:
What alternatives can I take other than the 6-7 small meals? I'm going for an MBA and I will be staying in a hostel. Suffice is to say that I will only be able to mange 2 meals from the mess (I'm thinking of skipping dinner for water)

Now by small meals you mean 1 meal, fruits, raisins, 1 meal, 1 shake, dry fruits, 1 meal?

And the rationale behind 6 small meals (as i understand it) is that you constantly keep ur stomach 'working out' without overloading it which so happens with big meals?

WHAT CAN I DO? :'(

P.S. Its urgent cause my girlfriend has her birthday in the last week of July and I need to atleast lose 15kgs (roughly 30-32 pounds) before I meet her :) So I'm open to extreme advice too.

Start running for 2-3 kms everyday.Also do a few stomach exercise.If you do them together nothing can stop you.Try to avoid junk food as much as you can atleast during this course.Also drink a lot of water

it's too hard, but no impossible, you must train 4 times a week, if is possible two of them before breakfast. you will have a good results.

ok ^_^ I had just one more question to bother you with?
My thighs are so effing fat that when I run they almost immediately start getting a rash and then the entire day is spent in an uncomfortable crotch pain. So can i work around this? Is this with everyone? And do i just have to man up and shut up and bear the pain till i lose enough fat?

You don't have to loose so much w8. Try to loose as much as possible without thinking on numbers. Your main goal should be run as much as you can and try to decrase fats and carbs during a day, especially after 8PM. Instead of eating at night you could just drink water like some kind of placebo :].

Hi,

just read your blog and dont take it personally, but most of what you said is totally crap. You should not write about things you dont know anything about...

Toast in the morning? Completely wrong you should eat wholemeal bread. Nuts before sleep? Even worse since nuts has carbohydrates and fat, which is the worst combo if you want to lose weight.

In the morning, you should eat wholemeal bread with things like turkey breats for example which has very few fat or even with jam with has carbohydrates but this is what you need for the start of the day. You need energy and the first source for energy are carbohydrates. Why wholemeal bread? Because wholemeal bread has even more dietary fibre, which is the base for a good digestion.

And for the time before sleep if you feel hungry you should eat low fat curd cheese since this will supply your body with proteins, which are necessary ti build muscles, but also and if not more important, to keep the muscles you have during sleep since the body is still working when you sleep. There is absolutely no point for carbohydrates or fat like nuts...

Furthermore you will never get into ketosis if you still eat carbohydrates.. sorry but this is plain wrong. Dont write about things you dont know ANYTHING about.

one person completely sedentary, and really fat, toast at the morning is a good choice, also 3 at 5 nuts before sleep two hours later of dinner is a good choice, for have no hunger, and Minimum protein load.
Also, I didn't give a nutritional plan. i just talk about some foods to take.
if you want to a nutritional plan, i'll give you.
i don't have pics about my changes, but i was fat, and now i'm not.
Also, i know some persons with ketosis. they did diets without recommendations of professionals.. people which ate 50 gr of carbohydrates a day.

Every body is different so 50g per day might be enough to get into ketosis. Eating that few carbohydates is just plain dumb. And i am also not talking about a food plan but your examples are just wrong, if you know what the body does with each macro nutrients. How ever good for you that you lost weight.

I lost 70kg so i know very good what i am talking about. And by the way, doing a "diet" is the worst thing anyway. Since doing a diet implies to not eat something, which is just wrong :)

Easy. You just need to know how much calories your body needs throughout a day without doing any kind of sport. Then you are taking like 500 calories away from it and do your food plan with 40% carbohydrates, 30% fat and 30% proteins. One more: A diet always implies that you leave something out, which i simply didnt. I eat the right things in the right amounts. Thats it. Together with some sport obviously to push your digestion even more.

yes, but with some machines it's too easy. but my uncle weighs 147 kg and he can't realize any sport like run in a square. He doesn't use this kind of machines, but he's walking 20 min 4 days a week, and works good for him, he has lost 10 kg in 2 weeks.

Now everyone listen what I will say. I'm handsome and full of muscles, and I eat whatever I want(you don't have to believe if you don't want to and I don't really care). Diet plan is so overrated. Training is the most important part of gaining muscles or losing fat. I eat 6-8 times per day and I eat everything I want. Only meals in which I choose what to eat are meals after training and after 8PM. Before training I drink BCAA and after training I drink Whey protein with glucose and after 8PM some meal(s) without fat and carbs.
I a case if you are endomorf just try to eat less fat and carbs during day, but you don't have to count everything. I have a friend who always watches for what he eats, but he always changes his diet(because it just didn't help him) plan because of some idiots who write blogs on different sites like this one. Train hard as possible and eat alot. Also drink lot of water.

i have other problem i cant get weight up :) tried everything :D i dont even get fat when im eating mc donald 24/7 dunno im verytiny sometimes when is wind blowing hard i think i will just fly away lol dunno im arms weak but even if i try to get some muscles how guys when i have no fat to transform to muscles lol ?

You can't transform fat into muscle. You actually benefit from being skinny if muscle gain is your goal due to higher insulin sensitivity. Start working and eat over your maintenance calories and you'll be seeing results :)

You are probably Ectomorph. I know several similar cases xD. One of them just CAN'T build mass, what is really bad since he is really muscular and he gives 100% to do some changes. You should write how many times do you eat daily, what do you eat, and what do you do every day. This isn't really right place to be informed about this, you should go on bodybuilding.com where you'll get better informations. Maybe even I can help, because I know what some of them did in this case and did get muscle mass after all.

well, for breakfast i eat cup of cornflakes... then some snacks in school and dining hall in our school (they making awful food and small portion for 16-17 y.o like me) then i usualy go ho and eat some jogurts,snacks and everytihg i find in fridge or again cup of cornflakes ... and for dinner i eat hmm usualy some no healthly food from fast foods or soaps or pizza and this kind of stuff... and i often go for some little snack in night :) and im not doing any sport right now (i was doing floorball but ended bcuz i dont want continue :))
btw in weekend i have usualy some healthly meals bcuz my mom is at home and cook me dinner and lunch :)
btw sometimes i dont even eat all lunch in my school bcuz it is not looking like food for human being :)

Well you don't eat a lot of proteins do you :>? You should change your diet. Eat every 2-3 hours and try to eat as much proteins and carbs as you can and some "good" fat too. Maybe you aren't really ectomorph because with this kind of food you just can't be "big". Try it, if you don't succeed, and I believe you will, you can use some supplements which help in 99.99% of cases.

you should try to run, at least slow and for a little while at first. running is a great way to lose fat because it makes you use your entire body. You gotta warm your muscles first so you don't hurt yourself tho.

you could lose 10kg but its best if you do it in a healty way... without exposing you to anemia or other diseases.
