It would be really great if someone knowledgeable (like Nix0n) could compile an article of all the pro player nicknames and the background & stories behind them. Players both past and present would be good.
It someone doesn't do it now, things will be forgotten and no-one will ever know. There are so many unusual names...some of which might be language-specific words, real life nicknames or just randomness that seemed to stick. Get_Right, Delpan, FRoD, rape (lol), Mangiacapra, aKuJii, ksharp, Sunde, cArn, face, f0rest, trace, jaegarn etc. It's amazing how much a recognisable name can do for a player - it helps them be remembered, build a fanbase and become legends!
If anyone knows the story behind a pro player nickname/alias, post it here and share the knowledge :)
I'll start off...
dsn - formerly of fnatic and all time legend CS
dsn is short for DeStructioN or DeluSioN, which apparently Harley used are nicknames in earlier days. He shortened it to dsn as this was the done thing to be eCool :)
dsn = Design, Destruction, Delusion - shortened to 3 chars for coolness
f0rest = variant of forest - used to be called TreeForest^ lol
cArn = cArnage - shortened the word for coolness
ins = insAne - shortened the word for coolness
Any others people? What about the polish guys? Danish guys?
walle - from his surname which is Wallenberg
dennis - his name is dennis lol
manne - same as dennis
taz - someone said its from his surname. Wiktor Wojtas. TAS -s+z =taz
LUq - from his name which is Lukasz
kuben - from his name which is Kuba
I played under a lot of different nicknames during my years from a local cafe here in Gothenburg. I used everything from "harley" to "WinD-". When I got a bit more famous and started playing online, I used the ID "design". It was during a time when alot of players had nicknames consisting of three letters. Cool as I was back then, I decided to shorten my nickname down aswell - design became dsn. Nowadays I use dsn as delusion or something else that works, like destruction. Anyway, that was my story behind my nickname, I guess.
