Actually I train Wing Chun, and I trained Muay thai. All I can say is that those saying Muay thai is the most useful should open their minds and go learn more about others martial arts. Muay thay is very overrated, it's indeed a very good martial art, but there are a lot others more useful in street situations, in muay thai you learn how to kick and to punch someone, while in wing chun you learn how to kick, to punch, to takedown, to break fingers/arms/legs/neck. I'd say Krav Maga and Wing chung are the most useful in street situations, but those are the ones I know. Who knows what others martial arts are there more efficient in streets?

Get your basic style in Kyokushin, train yourself the hardest in BJJ (also get the grapplings and that hard core from judo, witch shouldn't be hard for a kyoku practitioner), a bit of sambo to complement your BJJ techniques and to get defenses versus armed enemies and you are probably ready to go save the world.

Same here :) an old friend of mine from the army moved to Spain to practise Capoeira, nowadays he has his own school there. I used to coach at a circus and met some insane breakdancers there. Both are beautiful arts and insanely hard to master

Yes, because Capoeira has hardly ever been used in a movie for a lead actor. Capoeira practitioners are few in number compared to other martial arts. That's why you see mostly crowder doing it.

There was Capoeira in Van Damme's movie bloodsport as well but then, that guy wasn't the lead actor in the movie, so he had to lose.

There was capoeira in Ocean's 12 as well, albeit not used in fighting:

True, well the movies usually makes Capoeira at least look good except Never Back Down, that was pathetic. I was so mad when the "bad guy" just 1 punch ko'ed him without him even starting the fight. The other movies at least put up a show.

Agreed. Also adding to the point that Capoeira generates lesser raw power than Muay Thai, it's much more powerful if you see a mass-acceleration breakdown compared to muay thai. Also, when off balance, it's less effective where Muay thai still thrives due to limited movement and power shift.

But its latent power is what's beautiful to me.

I've tried many martial arts. As I experienced the most efficient was the muay thai, but it was the most painful of course.

I think boxing is also efficient as well, by the way many traditional martial arts finally got a part where you can practice the fight itself one on one.

The best looking is taekwondo I think, and also efficient as well if you have a large area.

Wrestling - most efficient against single tough opponent

Taekwondo/Capoeira - best looking


Krav Maga probably would be the most efficient in street fights as it teaches how to attack vulnerable body areas (groin, eyes, etc) that are otherwise prohibited in most martial arts.

If by efficient you mean competetion wise then you'd have to go for muay thai or BJJ, as for street wise BJJ is not so effective, cause there are no rules on streets and you can always grab you aggressosrs balls, or stick fingers in their eyes and so on. So, street wise, I'd say Krav Maga and Wing Chun, because they teach you everything that is important: how to win a goddamn fight no matter what.
