Well when you play gathers (ESEA pugs) you use ingame, because the teams are sorted by a statistic. Players who are friends playing together might hop in ventrillo to communicate.
Also you don't want to disturb your teammates who are alive when you die if you want to talk about something, so you use ingame.
Hmm, I still don't get it, when you play gathers just write to your team the server adress of ts/mumble/ventrillo, room, pw. In-game voice sounds like a trash imo. Anyway ESEA top teams use in-game voice too, so isn't it senseless when you are able to choose between shitty sound and normal sound? :)
well as i said the pug is sorted. So when the last person "readys up" it sorts the teams and the pug goes live within 10 seconds or so. Sometimes people post ventrillo info in teamchat if they have one, but not usually.
Also the voice quality on ESEA servers is actually pretty good because they know everyone uses ingame (in pugs) for the most part.
Idk, I actually prefer ingame to using ventrillo for the most part. It always seems like on ventrillo someone is way too loud and someone is way too quiet. Then you have to tab out and adjust their volume and shit, I find it annoying.
The point about ventrilo being too loud and quiet is good, cos before i considered the in-game voice thing crazy :D also the fact that server providers take it into consideration and make sure the quality isn't shitty.
