ESWC NA QUALIFIER INFORMATION
Plantronics GameCom is hosting the North American path to the Electronics Sports World Cup 2012 World Finals for Starcraft 2, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The qualification process for each game will begin online, with the top two finishers from the online qualifier earning paid trips to compete live at PAX Prime in the Plantronics GameCom booth August 31 – September 2. Each winner from PAX will receive a paid trip to represent the United States and Canada and compete against the world’s best gamers in the ESWC World Finals in Paris, France October 31 – November 4.

Each game will feature a free-to-play online qualifier Open Bracket, and the DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Open brackets will be combined with eight invited competitors to determine the ESWC North American Championship competitors. The top two finishers from the Starcraft 2 online qualifier will join six invited players to compete at PAX Prime. The semi-finals and final matches from the online qualifier and the ESWC North American Championship will be streamed live online in HD through Twitch in partnership with leading shout-casters from each game community.



The following information pertains directly to the StarCraft 2 online qualifier. Note that registration is open now, so be sure to get signed up in order to participate in the event!

Registration Period: July 17 - July 28 @ 9:00 PM EDT
Competition Dates: July 30 - August 12
Format: Single Elimination (Bo3 maps) down to Final 16 Single Elimination (Bo5 maps)
Prizing: Paid trip (up to $1,200) to compete at PAX Prime in the live event Finals
Finals Info: To take place at PAX Prime, with the winner receiving a paid trip to France to represent the U.S. in the ESWC Grand Finals

At first, it does seem like it suck, indeed, but if you try to play some serious matches, and actually put aside the fact, that its CSGO, then its actually quite fun. Its not 1.6 and it will never be, but its not that bad after all.
