You can't really compare skillevels, in completely different genres imo (LoL being the exception as the easiest esportgame on earth, and SC:BW the exception as the hardest game on earth). So pretty stupid statement yes.

The amount of multitasking required makes most people not good enough to make it anywhere.

It really is the hardest game to play professionally which is why it paid the most.

Edit: sc2 is considered difficult and is not even 1/10th as difficult as BW.

The main reason for this difficulty in BW is honestly the ancient UI the game is very old and the UI makes it difficult to control you're armies and economy effectively. Strategy however separates the big boys in a lot of ways to.

They're paid the most because it draws the most viewers. If there weren't any fans, the pros wouldn't be making shit, regardless of its difficulty

Actually the major user base was in south Korea which monopolized the game as a marketable SPORT during an economic hardship. Its difficulty and constant action throughout each part of the game is in my eyes what kept people watching.

Edit: lmao I'm rantig sorry. You're absolutely right. It was very popular and that's why they made money. I do think it's difficulty had something to do with it's popularity though.

I agree that they are certainly main contributing factors the games success. Hell, I enjoy watching top sc2 pros play for their unbelievable macro ability. I don't think that's the only reason why the game is successful though. Depth, balance, and constant action as you mentioned are also important.

Well the thing with BW is... It's always more interesting if you know how to play. There is way more action in one BW game than one sc2 game tho.

Rule 1 about BW. Flash(Terran) is god.
All fans must refer to him as such.

Rule 2 jaedong(Zerg) and bisu(protoss) follow closely behind. But no one can surpass god.

These are more of the top top top players of today. Bonjwa their called. Aside from saylebw there are a few other BW youtubers I can't think of off the top my head. Plus, teamliquid steams broodwar 24 hours a day (their all classic games) the downfall is there isn't any casting which is why I enjoy sayle and the youtubers.

Anytime man. The sc2 scene is a very nice and actually helpful scene unlike dots and lol, etc... So I think you'll enjoy you're stay. Teamliquid(not advertising just helping him out) is where you can find any strategy related questions and replay packs of their players. Great place to learn sc2 and daynine does dailies almost every day to help everyone improve(he's played GM at each race and was a professional BW player)

Now he helps those learn sc2 and does some other fun things along the way.

This is the game that got me in to broodwar :-) Unfortunately BroodWar is dying tho, all tournaments are gone. There is only one left, a tournament that used to be a BW-only tournament but they've switched to a 50/50 SC2-BW league, before they change to 100% SC2.

They left it alive for a while. But they stopped supporting and paying for the people who did the work behind the scenes. E.g mirra midway etc... Which caused them all to jump ship. Then the site went to hell with almost no moderating. Finally an angry moderator decided to end it and banned every active member. I used to browse this site while browsing GF :D those were better days for CS :(

You realize that sundance(the CEO of MLG) has gone on the record numerous times saying that CS(and especially 1.6), will never be on the pro circuit right? If anything they'll be the first people to pick up CSGO as they're knowing for switching to the newest game no matter how bad it is.

More like This WAS the most entertaining and skill oriented fps game in the competitive scene, CS has been around for over 12 YEARS, Listen man Over 30/40% of the whole CS population in the US from when it came out to now Quit or plays something else. And All the european Gaming organizations are dropping their 1.6 teams, SK the biggest powerhouse of the game doesnt have a 1.6 team anymore. The players are desperate for cash and i see players like getright attending Firecore lan 4 in the UK for 500 Euro's And i can garuntee you that if MLG does pick 1.6 up People will NOT return.

My Thought, Voted Yes But would like to see GO up there instead.


And look at it in Sundances *Owner of MLG* POV Would you rather have players from the US play the events because MOST Euro organizations DROPPED their 1.6 squads, Or Would you rather have Some 1.6 Teams alot of Source teams / People from BF3 / Cod / Tf2 / Quake From both the US and the EU comming to play in an MLG event. Ok the games great i love playing it aswell but after 12 years of watching the SAME STUFF, Same retakes, same frags it gets boring. But you have to look at this shit in the POV of a business man and they will pick the one that brings more money to their pockets.

This isint about fun kiddos Wherever the $$$ is at Thats where they are.
