Please Explain
I have been following Gamegune in almost every match, I don't understand why Na`Vi after losing 1-2 to ESC they played against Kerchnet and Delta instead of virtus.pro for the third place. Also, after fnatic defeated ESC, ESC played once again against Na`Vi where they won 2-1 in the consolidation final. What is this new system? and what is a consolidation final?

look here and you will understand.

That was exactly what I was looking but why make a lower bracket there, why not ending the tourney after fnatic-ESC.
2012-07-28 22:47:50
To make it more fair, so that the losers get a second chance to reach the final.
2012-07-28 22:49:18
1. Not new.
2. Why don't you just enjoy the additional maps? It is not granted that you will see more of these matches.

of course, it's not a complain, actually I'm a navi fan, just wanted to know.

thats called weird elimination... the most boring tournament ever...
but still thanks to gamegune that didnt say NO to 1.6
2012-07-28 22:50:00
So wrong, this system is way better than single elimination.
2012-07-28 22:56:44
+1
2012-07-28 22:57:27
lol for sure... thats why teams have to play 3 bo3 at 1 day...
what a great system, becuase of that shit i didnt even had time to watch final
watched all matches and got exhusted just from watching them... i cant imagina the players and the sreams...

ye what a great system, thanks gamegune for providing us with a such stupid system, with many delays and so on...
2012-07-29 06:56:36
+1 I watched 2/3 games per day and I was so tired. I can't imagine how tired must be casters if they streamed 30hrs + ;o
2012-07-29 07:45:41
That's exactly what I liked about this tournament,, cs 72hs full :D

double elimination is a far superior system to single elimination. it's saddening to see the average counter-strike fan is now so young they weren't even around when double elimination ruled the world in all tournaments (up until 2008 or so).
2012-07-28 22:53:51
why is that sad? it's good that we'll get a new generation of players and fans (if CSP/1.6 lives on that is).

i suppose because it means the vast majority of them do not know much of the history of what makes counter-strike so great and haven't been able to enjoy a lot of it.

it also explains why people have such wrong opinions on multiple matters though, i guess they just copy whatever they see others saying in the comments section.

Im young too, but i think my generation is it what destroys CS... :/ It is sad, cuz it is a great game, but this generation of kids destroy everything, cuz they are stupid...

New generations are needed to make the game live on (that applies to all sports, however, in esports other factors matters aswell), new history will be created, it's a natural process.

I have no idea about the past in Swedish icehockey except for the more outstanding things (first olympic gold, pelle lindberghs death, outstanding players names) - instead I know the teams history from 2000 - 2012 (second olympic gold, the sick comeback vs Finland, etc).

My future kids won't know shit about the bigger part of that era, but they'll know everything about Swedens 20-0 victory vs Finland in the year of 2030 :-)

That doesn't make the sport bad tho, it's inevitable.

Replace the word young with dumb(idiots, and alot other words would fit).
2012-07-28 23:32:42
Double - Elimination brackets were used since the first CPLs if I'm not wrong. I'm sure most tournaments used that system since 2002-03.

2012-07-29 01:15:22
Indeed, for some weird reason I understood the opposite after the first reading. :)

i'm not sure if you're a troll or just a moron, but "my" system had nothing to do with the schedule or the playoffs, only the way the groups were played out (which saved up to six hours and made gamegune LESS delayed).

wow, people are idiots.
2012-07-29 11:53:53
As far as i know it was due to some delay/problems at the event they had to move the upper-semis a day. If it all went by the schedule i dont think they would have to do that many matches in just one day.

Double Elimination system rocks, and this BO5 is simply awesome

ye best system eva.
when i saw the final,WUHU... i will watch it for sure

not.
2012-07-29 07:03:09
+1, the only thing I didnt like was the groupstage without the bo3 for the last match
2012-07-29 08:15:24
the more maps the better :)
2012-07-29 00:54:53
I liked it. Far more than the other system.

BO5 finals fucking rock.
2012-07-29 07:40:11
yeah me too ! we havent seen epic matches before like in this tournament
2012-07-29 07:57:22
bo5 is too much nice, but its sad when one of the teams already have 1 map of advantage :(

Final should be FINAL, without influences from results of previous matches :P

perfect system for a big tournament like dh,wcg, iem etc. gamegune used to be overextended with its classic system and this one was a bit too hard to handle for them.

would have been nice to had seen this system on big events in the past, but it seems to be too late :-(
