Seeing as though no newspost has been made concerning this, and less people will see it on the 1.6 forums, I thought I'd just give you all a friendly reminder that CS:GO preorders go live today, August 7th. Seeing as though it's only around 5AM in Seattle though, I believe the preorder will go up sometime later today.
If you'd like to find out more, or want proof, here's the official counter strike blog stating when preorders go live:

You probably should, to be honest, if you care about Counter-Strike at all.
2012-08-07 15:16:19
that game for me is not counter-strike but cod + battlefield tbh. I see the future of Counter-Strike in a game called CS:Promod and I root for it to make a big impact.
2012-08-07 15:48:02
Well ESEA won't pick promod up. I'm telling you now.
It's nothing like COD or Battlefield, it plays completely differently.

2012-08-07 15:50:25
dude i got like 10 hours on that game so I played it for a while and it's just like the games i've mentioned above. Actually it's way worse that the other 2 and it really sucks.
2012-08-07 15:51:58
When did you play it? You realize they're fixing the spray and audio in the next update.
If you open your mind a bit maybe you'd see it's actually a good game. But each to their own, I suppose.

2012-08-07 15:56:13
I've last played it yesterday actually and it has nothing related to the game i love ( cs 1.6 ). I don't need to open my mind mate as long as I play whatever I like and I don't like CS:GO. :)
2012-08-07 15:57:17
Hence why I said "each to their own."
If you don't care about the competitive side of 1.6, then by all means you should play it! :)

I'm just not going to try with you. there's been 12 years of 1.6, of course it has moments to remember. GO is still in beta. Christ.
2012-08-07 17:09:46
and Christ... valve even said the game is not meant for competition... jesus christ. why should we play a dumb game that isn't meant for competitive play.
i don't get this. you say we should embrace the dumb game and that things can be fixed since it's still in beta, but that the point. valve said they won't make cs:go to compete with 1.6 or even thinking about making it competitive. if cs1.6 is the MOST competitive cs, then it makes more sense to create a game that's even more competitive than cs 1.6 for it to even be considered a main FPS title.
so how is cs:go even the future? they're making cs:go LESS competitive. so making a game less competitive is the future of competitive cs? lol

So tell me why they've catered specifically to professional gamers in the development of CS:GO
Tell me why they've made special edition maps for competitive play.
Tell me why big name leagues and tournaments are picking the game up?
Not catered to competitive play? Right.

money duh. you're only a kid who's 17 years old who thinks valve cares about you and you're video game. If valve pays me $15 to even play cs:go for 2 hours then I would do it because thats free money.
do you think valve pulls money out of their asses so they can throw tournaments, give out free prizes, and winnings to players just to satisfy the gaming community? no they just want money. get a job kid and understand how the world and business works. to make money, they have to invest money. and thats what they are doing.
you are nothing but a naive kid.

And you need to stop making assumptions off of my age, at least I can state facts.
2012-08-07 19:03:50
Oh and valve are actually leaving the lead development to a company called Hidden Path Entertainment, so it's not actually valve at all.
2012-08-07 19:04:23
A game where people with top of the range PCs (i5/7, modern GPUs) are struggling to even get 120fps can not be said to have been developed with competitive play mind.
2012-08-07 19:15:17
You realize it's in beta, no FPS configs have been released and that's not true for all PCs at all, my friends who have i5/7 processors with modern GPUs get 300+ fps.
I mention the fact that it's in beta because currently certain video options are locked on, for example HDR and bloom effects, which are known to drastically reduce performance. Those kinds of settings are for the casual player, but HPE and valve have also provided the option to degrade graphics for increased performance through a config, just as they did with Source.
Modern games = better graphics = more resource consumption.
It's a known trend.

COMPETTITIVE GAMES NEED SIMPLE GRAPHICS. AND YOU ARE A BIG RETARD.

Configs have been used in every CS title...
Even in 1.6, so I don't really know what you're getting at.
It's normally a side effect that they increase fps, because their main priority is to remove clutter from maps for a better view.
And no, I'm not a retard at all, but you sure as hell act like one.

yo kebap you can't even run cs:go on your turkish wooden pc.
2012-08-07 15:47:09
oh i cant? Is that why on my current build i get constant 250-300 FPS? and on my secondary build i get 300 solid? By the way you can find info on my build right here. http://play.esea.net/users/486547

2012-08-07 15:16:59
why do you post CS:GO stuff on 1.6 forum?
2012-08-07 15:07:26
Other people have posted about Global Offensive on these forums. But can you tell me how someone's PC setup is related to 1.6? Surely that would belong in a general forum no?
http://www.hltv.org/?pageid=18&threadid=173600
Or maybe someone asking about a new mousepad? Does that belong in a 1.6 forum?
http://www.hltv.org/?pageid=18&threadid=172768
Or someone else, asking about CS Promod?
http://www.hltv.org/?pageid=18&threadid=173673
As you can see, the 1.6 forum on this site is more of the general gaming forum, due to the fact that the vast majority of the site's users, are indeed 1.6 players.

Just a shitty copy of COD by Valve with the words "counter strike" on it trying to give prestige.... I will not buy it.
2012-08-07 15:38:37
Wow. You've definitely not played it.
2012-08-07 15:40:34
Copy of COD? Hmm Last time i checked when cod 4 and all the other Cod's died in the US over 25 TOP NA teams came to GO/Esea And only 1 of those teams are in invite due to them being the best players to touch COD, 3-4 other COD teams do decent on the game and the rest struggle at trying to adapt. Trust me dude its nothing similar to cod and i know for a fact because i played over 5 events for MLG as a semi pro for Bops.

Yep let's just completely disregard a game that's in beta. Great.
2012-08-07 16:15:29
The funny thing is when the games released, and all the flaws are fixed, Good maps are released these kids will be drooling over this game.
2012-08-07 16:18:34
You sir, are 100% correct. It's just the release of 1.6 all over again.
2012-08-07 16:41:46
Not sure how you can justify that position really.
Started playing CS in beta (September 2000) and loved every new release more and more. Absolutely loved the 1.5->1.6 move, game effectively became twice as good for me. Loved it from the start and still love it.
CS:GO though... been playing on and off, typically not more than half an hour at a time since I just really do not find it fun. Sure they keep fixing stuff, but they aren't fixing the stuff that I have a gripe with.

Do you represent all of the gamers who transitioned from 1.5>6 and 1.6>GO?
2012-08-07 19:09:31
No, but do you?
IIRC 1.6 was mainly slated because of the increased latency and the excessively heightened system requirements.
As far as gameplay changes went most people were happy.

forced tournaments/promotion/money will make cs:go better than cs 1.0-1.6 ?
btw why did you delete my comment regarding csp ?

Hmm ive been trying to get the point that GO is more methodical type of play you have to actually use your brain to set up some nice frags or a sweet hold. 1.6 has been around so long people see getting aces as a second nature and its why people constantly rush Same old frags
Same old clutches Same old players. Don't you think 12 years is enough? Now promod on the other half wont work out because for 1 they don't have much funding 2 they are just a few coders/developers and now that ESEA is going to be in the EU that's a 100% no on Promod.

1) I've been playing it constantly since it was put into beta.
2) That was in no shape or form a rhetorical question, and if it was, it wasn't very meaningful and because I disregarded it you feel the need to emphasize that.
3) I never said you quoted me
4) I really, really don't believe you've played GO at all. That's my opinion.

2012-08-07 16:37:53
Cool, I really don't mind, the fact that there are some users on this site who openly support it makes it good, the fact that most source players + new players will also be making the transition means it will most likely be the biggest CS title to date, when we take into account how e-sports has changed since 1.6 was at it's peak. If you don't want to be a part of that, well that's your choice of course.
2012-08-07 16:40:58
Well, if you think you can create a great community without the 1.6-community, please spare us your CS:GO-praising then.
GL HF with CS:GO, personally I believe it'll fail horribly but if it doesn't, good for you.

Well as you'll notice I just said, there are users on THIS website who are 1.6ers, who have praised CS:GO.
We don't need all of you to make a game great, when we have people coming from other shooters as well.
And all the best to you and Promod.

2012-08-07 16:46:43
biggest problem here for 1.6 players to adjust for CS:GO is that the game feels LOT more like CS:S than 1.6, meanwhile CSPromod is almost like 1.6 with updated graphics, so CS:S players have bigger advantage switching the game for GO because the 1.6 engine is so much diffirent than CS:GO/Source if you are intending to play GO:)

Well I can downright say that's not the case because SK won the mini-tournament at CPH games, and they had to overcome the team who actually ended up winning the source tournament, Mousesports.
2012-08-07 16:51:12
yeah but i honestly think IMO the majority will struggle for this chance because the 1.6 engine (movement, shooting etc.) is superb compared to CSGOs one:)
and those games showed that SK was just superior compared to other teams with their teamplay and invidual skills ;P
TL;DR majority here who have cheered 1.6 for last 1-10years wont like to change to the game which felts much more CSS than 1.6 :)

What makes CS:GO good then?
2012-08-07 17:00:56
The fact that so much community feedback has been poured in and implemented into the game itself. That Valve and HPE have learned from past releases how to go about developing and fine-tuning a game.
All you need to do is play it to understand it's fun, and going to be good.

I'm English, and because I live here means I can't possibly know what's going on in Europe or America right? I think you fail to understand that we live in a technological age, and so far my points have been far more valid than the meaningless junk that you've spouted out.
Yes I'm 17, I've been playing Counter strike for almost five years. It also seems that I know a great deal more about the franchise than you. I'm definitely being more mature about it.

u say u dont care about cs:go, but in few weeks, u'll be trying to get the game. You will see.
Many pro players from 1.6 will switch too, you will follow them as their loyal doggie.

Its an easy option. CS 1.6 is dead, thats a fact, if you want to keep playing for fun, play 1.6, why not? But if you want to compete, to have a team, improve yourself to be someone one day in the cs scene, buy CS:GO and play a lot.
We all love 1.6, but maybe think, that sometimes we have to choose what we want, lets give an opportunity to this new game, there are only 15 €.
