HLTV.org understands that the United States will most likely have no representatives at GameGune 2009.
Last year, the United States graced the GameGune stage with two representatives, Evil Geniuses and x3o, with both of them managing a place in the top 6.
However, such scenario looks unlikely to be repeated this year as the LAN finals of the famous ESEA league fall on the same date as the Spanish event.
ESEA leader Craig "Torbull" Levine confirmed that the tournament will take place from July 25 to 26 in Dallas and added that it is impossible to reschedule the event.
"On April 30th we had a vent meeting with all of the CS 1.6 invite team captains and managers and outlined our plans and date. Nobody expressed any concerns or conflicts with it, so we proceeded to make arrangements for the event and plans around other weekends.
"It was brought to our attention last week and we explored ways to avoid the date conflict, but due to us then proceeding to scheduling another CS LAN event for a client of ours the weekend before (July 18) and not being able to postpone that event we couldn't do it sooner. For the Season 4 LAN Playoffs (next season) we are trying to integrate within a larger event in October so we are unable to do this season's (Season 3) LAN Playoffs any later.
"From my experience with Team 3D, I understand the importance of working with organizations to avoid scheduling conflicts so teams can attend all of the great events going on around the world, but unfortunately by the time it was brought to our attention, there just isn't anything we can do."
It seems that week of July will have no shortage of action, with GameGune, eStars Seoul and ESEA Finals all being held at the same time.
I guess these kind of news gives us an opportunity to form an international counterstrike Council /organization ( ICC/ICO ) which countinously monitors the cs tournaments going on worldwide, fix rankings, fix calendar ,encourages upcoming cs teams/countries ,provide live broadcast of matches , fix rules ,have representatives from all counterstike playing nations ,decides the controversial matters ....
someone have to take the initiative. The ones who have that kind of money and desire to see esports future shining in the future.
