Immunity disbands

Immunity have confirmed the disbandment of their Counter-Strike squad.

The Australian team had proved a strong figure at WCG in Cologne but was anything but impressive at ESWC Masters and KODE5 Global Finals earlier this month.

In South Korea, Immunity placed rock-bottom of their group without a single point, while in Russia they were sent packing at the round of 16 courtesy of Team Alternate.

According to Benjamin "benoR" O'Reilly, the team's poor form just heightened the problems within the squad.

"Before we left Australia there were already problems with practice and motivation," he told HLTV.org. "I guess losing that badly just made the decision easier for those who did not want to continue playing."

Fergus "ferg" Stephenson and Gareth "gazR" Lynn have both decided to take a break from gaming, while Mark "deStiny" Kagan and Mark "kraM" Pearce have joined ENCORE and k9d, respectively.

Quizzed on his future, O'Reilly said: "I do not know what I am going to do, but I will most likely not continue playing."

Immunity had the following team:

Fergus "ferg" Stephenson
Mark "deStiny" Kagan
Mark "kraM" Pearce
Gareth "gazR" Lynn
Benjamin "benoR" O'Reilly

horrible news =[=[=[

The Immunity team at WCG showed me that this team was actually capable of something. Too bad this is the end of the road.
2009-05-20 18:07:39

Atleast they have been before.
2009-05-20 23:35:26
if US and Aussie teams swapped places (geographically), id like to see any of them compete half as well.
2009-05-21 08:28:31
Well if they could get some wealthy person/organisation to support them, I'm certain they'd comeback straight away. Come on you euros! our currency is inferior to yours and would convert very nicely. :D

Also, it's a pretty lame excuse from benoR for whats happened.

I think some teams are capable to do a lot of things, but the no-motivation takes the upper..

Sad for Immunity :(

No sponsors (big events, cash) = no motivation, also kinda hard be PRO PLAYER in Australia, everywhere far.

ps. Benor was good, he plays like Sunde (I mean style and awp skill)

I believe Australia is even worse than US in terms of practice against other top teams. I guess those teams across ocean will always have a handicap.
2009-05-20 18:31:15
to bad guys =(

hi deStiny =D

Immunity should've continued their international quest by replacing relaxing players and get highly motivated players, just like what fnatic did few months back. Players conflicts is common, it's juz a matter of how maturely one handles and reconciliates, without getting blamed for screwing up others.

With INTEL backing their finance, Aussies must try to proof that they are better than the Americans. Disband = Bootcamps, Cheonan, wasted ):

2009-05-21 08:05:54
to be honest i only know ferg as a player. i guess nowadays all teams want results and that's all it matters. if you don't get results, its more likely to end up like Immunity.

good luck guyz to whatever you do

2009-05-22 09:37:07
yeah...
2009-05-22 17:56:00
Damn hate to see this sort of thing happen! hope benoR doesn't quit cs, find another team with a lot more motivation and passion ^^\

Encore are quite a strong team, weren't it not for a round in the finals they would have progressed to kode5 over immunity. IMO their new line up is stronger than their old one. Hopefully if nothing else they can do some damage.
