ESWC sold

Three months after the bankruptcy of Games-Services good news emerge from France.

Games-Services, the company behind the ESWC went bankrupt earlier this year, but now good news are emerging, according to aAa the ESWC brand has been bought by a French company called VALOSC. aAa reports that the new owner has contacted all the original staff of Games-Services and hired them all except for Matthieu Dallon and Aurélien Rougemont who have already found new jobs.

The model of the ESWC tournament may however change, the new owner should have contacted cybercafes and FNAC, a big electronics retailer in France looking for cooperations. For LAN events they have been in contact with a gathering of the largest LANs in France.

Hopefully this means we will one again see ESWC as a major player in the esports world, but only time will tell if the former glory will be restored.

We will update more on the ESWC situation as more information surfaces.

This is good news in case you were wondering, as it means ESWC events could return..
2009-08-07 13:19:04
I dont wonder, just too many organizations sell themselves nowadays ..
2009-08-07 15:27:15
Isn't it better that they sell themselves, and do events, instead of being bankrupt and existing for no use?
2009-08-07 19:25:40
Hell yeah! GL
2009-08-07 13:20:35
will see if they give back money that last company didnt pay for winning
but it's still good news :)
2009-08-07 13:21:38
Went a company is sold , in theory , her
activities but also her debts , are rebuy.

So if the new owner is honest , he shoud pay the latest prices money.
2009-08-07 13:46:58
Only the ESWC brand was most likely sold, therefore the new owner is probably not responsible for the debt of Games-Services. The money from the sale however go to all the people Games-Services owe money, so if the teams have made a claim they should at least get some money..
2009-08-07 13:48:07
if the company declared bankrupt, the new owner have nothing to pay.. i think. :D
2009-08-07 15:05:38
The situation is like someone auctioned that large 'ENRON' sign from their main office. Hope that no more esport teams will have to handle those payment delays.
2009-08-07 18:45:01
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
2009-08-07 13:28:50
I doubt that they will pay money to teams, and it would be strange if teams would attend such event after such situation.

I hope that they will prove me wrong.
2009-08-07 13:31:52
you know they have to pay like 40,000$ for ex-Wicked, right? :p it's fucking a lot

in the article from aAa, it is said that it is not sure at all. The article says that GM might be bought by a french or a german organisation, but that no information has been confirmed yet

"aAa reports that the new owner has contacted all the original staff of Games-Services and hired them all except for Matthieu Dallon and Aurélien Rougemont who have already found new jobs."

You should really be careful before spreading the rumors team-aAa started with their news.
2009-08-07 17:58:49
good to hear they got their job back. They're once the best of the best.

don't be too happy! French people are very good at speaking but not at taking actions, wait and see
2009-08-08 13:13:56
Imo, they only acquired the brand name before selling it to another bidder at a higher value. I guess they organisation is now wishing that nVidia will also make a comeback. :)
