According to proplay.ru, the SPB.Islanders Counter-Strike team have departed the organisation.

Rumours about the future of the team had begun to surface last weekend, when they attended a qualifier for ASUS Summer under the name pobeda.

The Russian team, who won the qualifier after beating RuSh3D 2-0 in the final, have now confirmed they have parted company with SPB.Islanders.

Although they did not wish to comment on the motive behind this decision, proplay.ru suggests it had to do with the organisation's financial problems.

Islanders had the following team:

Alexey "Flatra" Zlobich
Dmitriy "ex" Pestin
Vladimir "redman" Tarasov
Andrey "Xoma" Mironenko
Edward "Ed1k" Ivanov

sad redman ftw

2009 is a year of failure. Hopefully 2010 will be much much more giving in the eSports scene, especially CS.

sucks for them, there's not existing any good organisations in russia at this moment it seems, but not very weird because of the financial crisis which have hit russia quite hard afaik. hoep they'll find something, but i doubt some international organisation would have any interest in a russian team...:/
