bit: Our goals for GameGune are high

HLTV.org sat down with FireGamers captain Bruno "bit" Fukuda and asked him about the current state of his team.

Fukuda left Made in Brazil in December 2008 following a series of mixed results, being picked up by FireGamers the following month. His team now resemble the successful line-up that captured the ESWC title in 2006.

However, the first big tournament for the new FireGamers squad, KODE5 Brazil, did not go as they expected as they finished runners-up to mibr, who qualified for the finals in Moscow.

FireGamers are now looking for an improved campaign at GameGune Mexico, an event that will take place from 10-13 September, and Fukuda is hoping this competition will go their way.

Are FireGamers going to GameGune Mexico? Is everything taken care of?

We are doing our best for everything to work out, there are still some things left but the most important thing, the plane tickets, we already have, so yes, we will probably go.

You guys have gone from a team where you had all the support one could ask to one with little support. How has life after mibr been?

Hard. Our desire to play is tremendous, it is not easy to watch tournaments happening and not being able to play them like we used to, but I guess that is one extra motivation.

Have your team been approached by organisations? What is the state of negotiations?

We have been contacted by some organisations, but none of these approaches have produced a happy ending. Some organisations have folded because of the crisis, some are still checking the possibility of having us, we are still searching.

bit and nak

After being in a team that had a big support behind it, what are your demands when you address an organisation?

I think the main thing are the trips for sure, our focus is on playing in tournaments outside Brazil, so that is what we are asking for.

Did you expect it to be this hard to find an organisation?

I was not expecting it to be this hard, I think the crisis has really made it harder, fortunately Firegamers is helping us travel to GameGune [Mexico], I hope some more sponsors or organisations will show up to help with hotel, food, and visa costs, for example, for everything to work out.

In the first big tournament of the team, KODE5 Brazil, things did not go very well and you winded up placing second. What do you think that went wrong?

I think we did not win a tournament that was in our hands, we lost some crucial rounds that cost the match, but mibr also played well.

bit with mibr

How will the team practice for GameGune?

We are training online on a daily basis here in Brazil and we will make some bootcamps before the competition in Sao Paulo, also to practice for the WCG qualifier, which will be right after GameGune.

What are your goals for the tournament [GameGune]?

Our goals are for sure high, we have always done very well in the GameGune events we have attended, we hope we will continue doing well like in 2007 and 2008.

There are rumours that Made in Brazil are going through a bad financial moment. What can you say about your former team?

They are going through the same moment as other teams, like for example WICKED, MYM, etc. Fortunately they have not had the same fate and they are still on, I am sure Paulo [Velloso] will still help CS a lot in Brazil, at least I hope so.

Do you have any other events planned for this year?

We are waiting for the ESL Global Challenges, we probably have high chances of attending stops such as Los Angeles and Philadelphia like last year if they happen, and also WCG if we win the qualifier.

surprising that they still dont have an organization, they are an extremely talented team that I believe would do very good internationally
2009-08-20 03:53:34
1) Brazil 2) Why some1 should support esport ?

There's even no wcg qualification between baltic countries this year...

organization in an other country?
organization can make money with a good team?
2009-08-20 11:36:15
with team who reaches top10 max ?
Yea, thats how you make a fortune.
2009-08-20 13:42:03
8 words. 'Counter-strike, the most inconsistent game in the world.' In which I mean teams can place 12th at a competition, 2 weeks later place 3rd. There's no telling what will happen with a team at any point, yeah they can place 10th three times in a row even five times, who says they wont do better?
2009-08-20 16:27:43
Yea, fnatic wins, then mtw wins, then fnatic, then sk, then fnatic, then mtw etc...

But not like fnatic wins, then mtw wins, then K1LL3R5.mix wins, then neverheardnoobs.team, then firegamers and then fnatic again.

top3 can be top1 in some event but top20 cant be top1.
2009-08-20 20:02:35
You're extremely underestimating firegamers.
2009-08-20 22:15:56
Dont talk without the necessary knowledge, please. Their lineup is formed by players that won some of the biggest tournaments, like ESWC, Dreamhack and GameGune, their lineup is very good (bit, nak, fnx, bruno, FalleN), and im sure you NEVER seen they playing. They are not top 20, synck is.

And btw synck is top200

2009-08-21 14:56:53
I hope they're going to do well, another top team = extra suspense.

Thanks MIRAA, great work and effort ;)

about fg i think they dont have an organisation yet cuz they are allways changing the line-up, any organization like this. they dont want to support a team who constantly change players.

If you use the 'Reply' button the user will/would know you replied to him/her ;)

If you type the post number and the "#" symbol, the user will/would know you replied to him/her if he/her is not retarded ;)

Sure, let us search the "magical" number, duh?
2009-08-20 20:33:42
Do you think he goes back to this thread and reads all posts to see if someone replied? There is no feature here where you can see if someone made a comment after you in a certain thread, like there is on other sites, here they use the reply-button instead. Take it or leave it.

always interesting to hear from players who aren't in publicity that often, especially brazilian players (which ofc has its reasons with their poor english, did you perhaps iview him in portuguese miraa? :D)
2009-08-20 15:04:58
Yeah, it was in Portuguese, and then I translated it ;)

2009-08-20 18:16:45
actually mibr won the one game this lineups had against each other. let's see if fg improved their team play.

2009-08-20 21:46:27
If it all came down to individual skill, a match between MiBR and FG would go FG's way for sure.

But, FG's lineup being more unstable than MiBR's (if that's even possible), and the fact that last time I saw they playing their teamwork didn't seem to be anywhere near perfect, I'd say MiBR has a better chance at winning this.

I'm still cheering for both to do well though; seeing 2 teams from Brazil in 1st/2nd place in a tournament outside the country would be awesome :D.
