GeT_RiGhT claims two awards

Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund was the big winner of the eSports Awards with two individual trophies.

The fnatic star was voted by the ESL academy as being not only last year's best Counter-Strike player, but also the eSports' player of the year, collecing the awards at the ceremony hosted by the ESL in Cologne.

The eSports Team of the Year award went to fnatic, who beat off competition from mTw, two World of Warcraft teams and also VeryGames' Counter-Strike: Source squad.

The Breakthrough of the Year award, where fnatic's Rasmus "GuX" Ståhl was in contention, ended up in the hands of Spanish Warcraft III star Pedro Moreno "LucifroN" Durán.

HLTV.org was in contention for the Best eSports Coverage award, but the trophy went to German-based website readmore.de.

gtr is not really an entry fragger guy like f0rest and neo, he baits a lot and stuff but that doesn't change the fact that he is the best player at the moment. he uses all the opportunity/advantages he gets to the fullest.

GeT_RiGhT has been crucial in a lot of aspects. He deserves it. But maybe not the eSports player of year, though.

I'd give the eSports player of the year to someone who brings more than just crazy frags... I see it like a sportsmanship award. But hey, let's give him the credit.
