nak: "Hard to lose like this"
By: MIRAA
Time: 2009-11-12 15:09
Event: WCG 2009

HLTV.org caught up with FireGamers captain Renato "nak" Nakano after his team's early exit at the WCG.

The Brazilian team registered an amazing 17-13 win over fnatic in their last group match, a result which is, however, not enough to see them through.

A three-way tie at the top was decided by the round difference between the tied teams, which ruled that FireGamers finished third with a -6 record, behind wNv.cn (+8 record) and fnatic (-2).

After the match, Nakano blamed the heavy defeat to wNv.cn for his side's early exit in the tournament.

"We are thinking about those silly rounds we gave away against wNv after we had lost the match and that now make a difference, we are out because of 4 rounds, if we had made two more rounds against fnatic, if wNv had made one more round on the stage, we would be through," he told HLTV.org.

"It's hard to lose like this, because of small details, but we were in a hard group and we knew it would be like this, decided by details, but it is okay, we got here in our first international event and we beat fnatic so it was worth it.

"What happened was a bit of nervousness against the Chinese team, which costed us a few rounds. de_dust2 is a weak map for us, and we did not start well, we started losing pretty bad, then we turned things around, we still won the pistol as CT but we lost the second round, that's when we lost some motivation.

"Against fnatic, de_train is also one of our strongest maps, we were expecting a match like this, we played very well and I think they did not expect this defeat but there is nothing we can do, we are out. "

Nakano is confident his team can only improve in the future after defeating fnatic, who are regarded as one of the strongest contenders for the WCG title, in FireGamers' first international appearance.

"We are happy to have won against fnatic but sad because of those little rounds we needed to go through, now we will try to get a sponsor to play in some other tournaments out there because the team now has more experience and I think it will be better next time," he added.

Stay tuned to HLTV.org for full coverage of the 2009 World Cyber Games.

2009-11-14 15:13:34
better luck next time boys
2009-11-12 13:09:56
yeh, I bet they didnt realixe the importance of those last rounds vs wNv.cn, Routine and experience comes with time.... next year, fnatic out instead of FG, hehehe
2009-11-12 13:20:51
better skill next time.
2009-11-12 15:41:20
don´t be stupid
2009-11-12 15:54:32
i think it's not a matter of skill at all when you're competing in an international event for a first time (i mean, the first time in a new lineup)
don't be silly :o
2009-11-12 16:47:44
"don't be silly"?
don't ask him too much
2009-11-12 23:39:57
Please read what you wrote. You are saying that random 5 guys can win wcg , even if they play cs for the first time and compete in an international level for the first time? "Because it's not matter of skill at all"
- lol. They are playing cs not roulette dude. It's all about skill !

If they didn't advance to playoffs, it was due to the fact that wnv and fnatic played better (read: more skilled)
2009-11-13 00:28:11
dude wtf r u talking about, do u even know who the fuck they are? those guys play since they were mibr and i think MIBR was actually a very SKILLED team, stfu and look up for kiko, cogu, NAK, pred and fnx... half of this team played CPL, and left GREAT PERFORMANCES
2009-11-13 05:47:48
no point in arguing with you, as we see you cant understand english enough to understand my comment which you replyed to. Nobody was talking about FG, who they are and what they have achieved etc. What has that to do with the fact that wnv and fnatic play better and FG is out ?

Please don't reply me if your IQ is not above 60
2009-11-13 16:07:28
can you quote wher did i say that 5 random guys can win WCG? that's hilarious :o

no it's not only a matter of skill. for example, do you know what the word 'tactics' mean?
2009-11-13 14:33:49
Yes, you didn't say random 5 guys, but if you win, it's because you are better than your enemy, there is nothing to do with luck. Wins team who is more skilled.

And tactics are also skill, not luck.

So fanboys crying that FG is out due to the bad luck, they are wrong.
2009-11-13 16:02:54
i didn't mention anything about luck, so dont use that as an argument against what i'm trying to explain :D
2009-11-13 16:20:36
"i think it's not a matter of skill at all when you're competing in an international event for a first time"

Then what matters, if it's not skill ? :)

I just assumed you meant luck, because everyone else said better luck next time and i said better skill next time and u replyed me:)
2009-11-13 16:32:15
skill, tacs, experience and also being used to play in a lan tournament. and this last thing is what i meant in my first reply.
2009-11-13 16:51:56
sad to eliminated in this way.GL guyz.
u guyz would rock somday:)
2009-11-12 13:12:19
Whatever, it was a 1vs1, he lost it..

Even if he won that 1v1, they would still need 1 more round.
2009-11-12 13:14:25
no.they would move on if they won that round.
2009-11-12 13:16:01
not really, what does count is the round difference between the tied teams, therefor, they needed 4 more round or so.
2009-11-12 13:24:43
they just needed 1 round
2009-11-12 13:26:13
Come on, if you actually read the interview, you'd notice they needed more then a round.

A three-way tie at the top was decided by the round difference between the tied teams, which ruled that FireGamers finished third with a -6 record, behind wNv.cn (+8 record) and fnatic (-2).

How come they wouldve advance with just a round?
Itd be fnatic -3 FG -5, still the same

2009-11-12 13:28:19
in that case wnvcn(+8) 14-16 20-10
fnatic(-4) 16-14 12-18
fg(-4) 10-20 18-12
2009-11-12 13:32:30
yep so true, didn't see it that way
2009-11-12 13:34:28
fnatic would've still have gone through after the general round difference had been taken into consideration.
2009-11-12 23:40:27
no they did not
2009-11-12 16:08:47
if they'd won that round, there was gonna have a rematch agains fnatic, and the winner would go on the competition!
2009-11-15 02:57:43
they needed 2 rounds.
2009-11-12 16:09:09
no they wouldnt, it would be tie and rematch with fnatic, propobly they would be out anyway :<
2009-11-12 13:25:16
oh i see now. ty
anyway fg is a good team.
2009-11-12 13:26:35
No, would only be a rematch in case their total rounds iN ALL matches were the same, fnatic would have 29, fg 25 i think.
2009-11-12 13:26:58
it wouldn't have been a rematch, fnatic would go through
2009-11-12 16:08:33
No.
2009-11-12 23:39:16
if win that 1v1
18:12,so fg-4,fn-4
fn out
2009-11-12 13:37:02
No, fnatic would've progressed. :P
2009-11-12 23:40:47
True!
2009-11-12 16:09:52

They deserved to qualify :(

2009-11-12 19:35:03

2009-11-12 20:06:50
You have more heroin and cocain addicted than we do, but we have more smoking pot.

Swedish people talk like Chinese people, as MIRAA stated in his blog.
2009-11-12 21:02:51
You talk like you're stuck in the porridge :>
2009-11-12 21:04:47

2009-11-12 23:12:07
Not you, you. You, the Danes.

On which dialect? We have about 25 different kinds.
2009-11-13 06:03:12
Oh, didn't know, they all sound like it, that's why you can't separate the dialects... But seriously, Jutish people really do speak like donkeys.. :/ It's easier to understand people from Copenhagen for example.
2009-11-13 19:52:05
I was born in Northern Jutland, we speak very much like those from Copenhagen (Have lived in Copenhagen for 4 years)
It's those darn farmers that talks like they've been living in a barn for decades.
2009-11-14 02:21:20
What do I know really, but I faced Sönderjylland in a football game once and I could barely keep myself from laughing when they started shouting at the referee. :)
2009-11-14 14:25:47
Yeah, we laugh at them too
2009-11-14 19:56:07
Yeah, we laugh at Scanians and Norrlanders aswell so. :D

2009-11-13 01:19:35
I'm not a racist, but people like you tempt me to be one.
2009-11-13 06:02:10
Too bad that fnatic aren't so good in group stages and still went through when FG get to go home :)

;)

2009-11-12 13:50:15
I think fnatic placed ahead of FG.
2009-11-12 23:41:14
fg <EG in Amarica..

MIBR
am i right?
2009-11-12 13:17:01

2009-11-12 13:18:32
true! =(
2009-11-12 13:23:41
FG are way better, its sad that they dont have the same kind of opportunites

replace EG.cs with FG and then they'll get some wins ;)
2009-11-12 13:27:02
FG

lol it was just a fluke game by firegames and now everyone thinks they´re the best team in south/north america. I mean I bet they've studied fnatics strats on de_train and such. However that doesnt mean they are low but they are defienetly not the best team :)
2009-11-12 13:37:31
you know a lot of players from FG have won ESWC, just like the players from EG... but oh wait FG kept playing 1.6 and no source... so really FG is better than EG.

at least imo.
2009-11-12 18:38:21
FG>Chine team... in train easy...
wNv got lucky with the drawing map..
2009-11-12 13:24:24

2009-11-12 19:24:05

2009-11-13 04:22:32
You guys are all stupid, clearly these groups were bad drawn! They set up a group with 3 teams that should be in the finals! That was just stupid... And i don't care u r going to reply with some stupid comment, just take a look how easy the other groups were.
2009-11-15 03:00:45
That's why FG aren't a top tier team, they can't play certain maps at all.
2009-11-12 23:43:51
better luck next time guys =[! Unlucky
2009-11-12 13:24:29

2009-11-12 13:25:22
yeah, FG show very good shape on train , they beat no1 fnatic , i think they deserve to be in best 16 :)
2009-11-12 13:26:26
hope we will see them in some international events soon, best wishes guys
2009-11-12 13:27:10
vqv fg!
2009-11-12 13:27:40
They deserve a sponsor.
2009-11-12 13:27:42
#22 FG is nothing when mit Chinese team..
wnv 20 : 10 FG.
tyloo vs FG=??
yeah.it is appropriate to write 30:0
2009-11-12 13:28:49
#39 shut the hell up, atleast 3 of these players have won more than any of tyloo members have won in all their gaming life.
2009-11-12 13:32:13
fg > wnv
2009-11-12 13:32:23
tyloo > fg
2009-11-12 13:38:49
wNv>FG according to the group standings?
2009-11-12 23:44:30

2009-11-12 19:18:56
FG are strong , that is what counts :)
2009-11-12 13:30:01
FalleN > GoodRifle
2009-11-12 13:30:08
No no no,
if u say like that
i think goodRifle > all Brazilian player~
2009-11-12 13:36:57
FG just win fnatic once.and you say FG>ALL Chinese teams.
train is not the best map to fnatic..
the strongest map is infono..and tyloo 23:7fnatic.
you know.
2009-11-12 13:31:12
You must be very unexperienced in this then right? Look at fnatic's results, its gux and f0rest's best map too bad it was MiBR best map last year and lau and nak were in that line up.
2009-11-12 13:33:49
.. It was group stages and fnatic still went through.

that's what happens with such unbalanced groups.

fnatic should never have lost this match though, I'm tired of them losing to much weaker teams =l
2009-11-12 13:35:35
Better to be weak in the group stages than being weak in the play offs :)
2009-11-12 13:53:15
This sentence could be very well argued :D
I mean if you are weak on groupstages you might not even see playoffs.
Luckily for fnatic they have always passed the groups.

yeah but I don't like the way they always suck at the start then end up winning. it doesn't feel like a true, perfect win.

don't get me wrong, fnatic is my favorite team, that's why I'm getting pissed off by this, I wouldn't care if it was another team.

a team like this shouldn't get through as 2nd in their group thanks to round difference, they should beat everybody in the group like all the other top teams did in their respective groups and that's it.
2009-11-12 14:09:15
The other "top Teams" doesn't have 2 other top teams in their group :) FG and wNv are 2 really good teams.

I'm just happy that they went through.
2009-11-12 14:27:31
hmm, Power Gaming and virtus.pro? i know VP might not be quiete as good as FG and wNv, but both teams i'd say is in the upper part of the world...
2009-11-12 15:21:10
You can't compare VP and PG to FG and wNv though, FG & wNv are much..much better.
2009-11-12 15:57:10
than VP yeah as i said, but PG consist of some of the very best players ever from Finland, don't tell me that PG aren't as good as FG and wNv, cause they are... atleast imo.
2009-11-12 16:06:32
That might be the reason why fnatic really does win, they don't show their strategies and such in the group stages. :)
2009-11-12 23:45:57
I hope that some organization provide an opportunity for boys of firegamers, for help in the cost of travel out of Brazil, play tournaments outside is very important to the experience of group.

Fallen best awp in the world!

sorry, my English is not very good.
2009-11-12 13:36:15
WTF?! You saw him at one event and call him the best?
2009-11-12 19:20:02
Who says he hasn't seen him before WCG?
2009-11-12 23:46:19
where was Fallen's fanboys before WCG?
2009-11-12 23:57:12
FalleN has been around in the Brazilian scene since a long time ago, always with good awp performances.

He clearly played way better than cogu in the WCG qualifier, and even before that in his former teams he was already getting attention for his awp play. He didn't get in the team out of nowhere, there was a reason they put him in, and that's because everyone in the national scene knew he could do some serious damage :).

Besides, a good 6000 people watched their WCG qualifier final against MiBR, and even their other matches had an average of ~1000 spectators, so he could've seen him before then.
2009-11-13 13:01:06
Im just trying to say, that MOST people on here that says "fallen is the best blah blah blah penis" have not spoken before WCG
2009-11-13 15:29:51
That was because FG hadn't beaten mibr yet, everyone were cogu fanboys until their WCG qualifier... Things change quickly. ;)
2009-11-13 20:00:01
Obviously ;)
2009-11-13 20:15:47
Yes, you agree I'm correct?:D
2009-11-13 20:16:13

2009-11-13 20:41:54

you have to
2009-11-13 20:43:03
Okey. A laser beam-shooting rogue. Fine.
2009-11-13 20:44:23
You can't say that they're much weaker team, they have won ESWC 3 years ago over fnatic.
The difference is, you can't compare the way that sweden teams have to train in their own home while brazil has shit connection and it's hard to find a good team to train.
2009-11-12 13:36:59
the victory has been on inferno
2009-11-12 13:41:35

where are those people who said that the FG would not have a chance with the fnatic?
where is?
FireGamers good, did what they could
2009-11-12 14:46:06
Fnatic did what was NEEDED
2009-11-12 19:21:10
They really should change these random group draws. Seeding is needed. Look at group D for example :-D Too bad that top-tier teams are forced out early like this.
2009-11-12 14:53:03
amazing game winning against fnatic

good luck guys

wnv have failed like the way fg did this time,so they knew it's a game that every point counts .

FG THE BEST TEAM! GOGO FIREGAMERS
2009-11-12 14:55:32
but still not good enough to advance...
2009-11-12 19:21:36
yeah fanbois overall
2009-11-12 14:56:01
These guys need sponsoring. I know everyone goes on about the poles Again being the unluckiest team in gaming but atleast they get bursts of sponsorship to send them to international events. These poor guys must find it impossible to get out of brazil
2009-11-12 14:58:27
can bow to the alp best in the world today FALLEN >>>>> anyone have doubts?

2009-11-12 15:01:45

approx cyx sunde...many more imo..

Sad :(

FG could have owned everyone in grp A. Silly WCG random draw imo!
They really deserved to go through after a solid performance. I bet Millenium and parallax advancing from grp A will be out after first knockout round. FG would have added some of that brazilian spice we´ve been missing for so long to the tournament.

And yeah, like saikyo mentions, to bad that Sequential didnt advance either. 15-11 and then drawing and being knocked out is tough.
2009-11-12 15:02:19
don't underestimate Millenium, france ain't that bad at CS, i'd bet they could play a really close game against fx. FG, however prolly losing 16-14 or something.
2009-11-12 15:25:33

2009-11-12 15:16:37
I guess its ridiculous I dont know how they do groups too hard like FG and too easy like A, D, E, G, H

NICE JOB FG!
2009-11-12 15:31:01
Maybe it is just me but I still see mibr as the strongest team from brazil, they just need to get their gaming on again. But maybe it is just me.
2009-11-12 15:35:44
probably its just u. probably ;) mibr only have cogu imo.
2009-11-12 16:03:36
this groups really are a joke, but its done, and its fair, wNv won the game against FG @ dust2, so they deserved it. gl next time fnx.

ps: stop spaming fallen > all please.

One reasonable Brazilian, THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS...
2009-11-12 23:48:33
wish bit didnt leave, wouldve been 4-0 for FG
2009-11-12 15:57:33
dont be sure fg could beat fnatic.
fnatic always (i mean always) loses one match in every group-stage cause they dont want to show any of their tactics.they do that with meaning so fnatic know that they will go through the group-stage without doubts.
2009-11-12 16:09:00
Well two more rounds and they would have not gone through. Do you really think they lost on purpose?

2009-11-12 16:16:12
This is so sad for FG, they were 1 millisecond away from advancing to the playoff, and fnatic is just as lucky as ALWAYS, when will they run out of luck? I hate them.
2009-11-12 16:40:26
They wouldn't have advanced even if f0rest hadn't defused that bomb.
2009-11-12 23:49:27
gl FG in next events
2009-11-12 16:45:18
Well, Firegamers has done a very good job, since they (and almost teams from Brasil) doesn't has any support by any company (i'm talking about money aswell).

Everybody knows that is SO dificult for a Brasilian team comes on and play as hard as an anothers.

For all these "Chinas" fan: Who are you to talk about Firegamers, or Mibr? Nak, Bruno and Fnx won THE MOST IMPORTANT champioship ever on 2006, and you guys haven't ever done something really important like this.

Firemagers: We (Brasilian) are honored and proud to whatever you have done.

Cya.
2009-11-12 16:52:36
aaah, don't make em more than they are, the most important championship ever, might be a bit too much, remember we've hade huge CPL's too, like 2003 winter and so on, plus stuff like WEG and other things.
2009-11-12 18:44:11
FG gl
2009-11-12 16:54:18
It was this time, but hopefully they can get a good sponsorship in order to participate in more international competitions.

Congratulations FIREGAMERS ;D
2009-11-12 17:29:43
so sad, i'm sure they got enough power and confidence for the finals after beating fnatic. it is really disappointing that they got that hard group :(
i wish wnv good luck at their later matches :(
2009-11-12 18:15:41

FG/Mibr always gets in the hardest group in the group stage.. and to be eliminated this way is really sad.

well played overall though. go FG!
2009-11-12 21:22:52
I'm sick of Brazilians not understanding... I felt sorry for FG, that feeling is slowly disappearing..
2009-11-12 23:50:32
Better luck next time.

I didn't watch the match and I don't know FG performance against fnatic. But it's sad to see they didn't advance for minimums details like a couple of rounds.
