WCG 2009
Info

World Cyber Games 2009 will once again be the event highlight of the year, this year taking place in Chengdu, China. The 2009 event gathers 35 teams, to battle for what is counted as the unofficial Olympics for e-Sport.

The event will start off with a group stage, where all matches will be played best-of-one map. All 30 rounds will be played, as round difference might determine which team advance to the knockout stage and what team will be watching the remains of the tournament from the spectating rows.

A total of 16 teams will advance to the knockout stage, being played best-of-three maps, in a single elimination bracket. This means, that once a team has lost one match, they are out of the tournament.

Defending champions are the Danes from mTw, who will be returning to the international competition after a long absents. Favorites to win the title this year are the undisputed kings of 2009, the Swedish team fnatic. The Swedes can however expect tough competition from other title-favorites, such as the two Chinese teams wNv.cn and TyLoo, the Polish powerhouse AGAiN, mousesports from Germany, k23 form Kazakhstan the defending champions mTw and a few more.

HLTV.org will be on site in Chengdu, to provide you with a wide series of content such as HLTV, demos, results, standings, demos, articles, video and text interviews, photos and blogs from World Cyber Games 2009.
