WCG 2012 - Hear our community
2012-02-03 03:20
Right now, CS 1.6 has 3 of their top6/7 teams with foreign players.
They are SK, FNATIC and MOUZ.
With the current WCG rules, those teams won't be able to play in WCG 2012.

What does that mean? We already saw a little of it in WCG 2011. It means less competition, less prestige, less viewers (bad for sponsors). No way thats the best way to use all the money Samsung puts in WCG.
To make a glorious event, with all the prestige it deserves, and to have the best return of the investment, we need all the best teams having a chance to play in the event, and as it is right now, 3 of the top6/7 teams can't play.

The solution? Simple, just change one simple rule. Let 1.6 teams with foreign players, play in WCG. Limit them to 2 foreign players.

Some people will argue, thats not a good solution. So, look at the alternatives. Its either that, or we will have a weak WCG 2012, and thats bad for everyone. Its bad for the sponsors, bad for the public, bad for 1.6 and so on...

Do you know a WCG staff? Link him this blog. E-mail him with this blog. Talk to him. Lets do whatever we can to make it happen.
We have enough time till WCG 2012 (usually in the end of the year), its possible.

And if it happens, let do our part, and make the CS 1.6 WCG 2012 the most viewed 1.6 event EVER.

Lets go guys!

2012-02-03 03:27:30
I wish it were as well, but i don't think so. This tournament is like the Olympics, is by country, so.. =/ hopefully sk, fnatic and mouz go to this WCG 2012.. =) +1

SK and Fnatic would still be representing Sweden and Mouz Germany. WCG can make a new rule, saying only 3 of 5 players of the team (the majority) need to be from the team's country. Sure its different from the olympics, but if thats what it takes to make everybody happy (including WCG / Samsung and other sponsors), so be it, I see no problem with that.

Remember, it will be better for WCG and Samsung too, so whats the matter?
2012-02-03 03:37:18
it will better for teams and we (watchers) :)
2012-02-05 14:10:14
i think National championship is a totally different thing as seen on clanbase nations cup(which should be LAN tournament with the last 8 or 16 teams). WCG should be the all time clash of the top teams every year.

we dont neither know if cs 1.6 will be at wcg, they always put the "newer" "cs" on their game list when it comes, ofcourse we dont know too if cs:go will be released for those times, but we have to hope. This month i guess the eswc titles will come out, lets wait to see what is going to happen.

There is a strong chain of e-mails being exchanged, mainly about ESWC and CS. I received this in my personal e-mail the last month. So if it came to me (I have no idea how), I'm pretty sure everybody in ESWC, WCG and ESL are very aware of it too.

===============

I'm here to expose the facts, not to tell you what to do.
I am sure you have your own statistics too, so you must know about it already.

ESWC 2011 is over now, and this is the number of ingame viewers from CS1.6 and CS:Source tournaments.

http://i56.tinypic.com/mvpvlc.jpg

Its really a fact that CS 1.6 had much more viewers than CS:Source in ESWC 2011.
Also, CS 1.6 was the main game of ESWC 2011, reaching a total of 50,000 spectators (ingame + streams), as you can see here.

All of those numbers are legit and correct.
You can check them any time you want.
Here is one way to check the numbers: Download 1.6 and CSS demos from ESWC 2011 Grand Final, and you will see those exact numbers.

When it comes to competitive Counter-Strike, the 1.6 version is the only way to go.
I'm not telling you to do anything, its your money after all, I am just showing you the facts (and you probably, already know about it).
You decide what to do with them.

Best Regards,
Valve * J

~wow~ what flag will mouz rise when they get the medal
2012-02-03 04:52:47
shouldn't contain more than 1 to 2 foreign players
2012-02-03 04:53:46
Yeah I always thought the rule was not that good to begin with considering WCG is one of the most prestigious tournaments available for any game so why not have the best compete? SK being added to the not able to attend list was the first thing that popped into my head when I heard trace was the 5th so hopefully something is done otherwise itll just be Navi vs ESC pretty much.
2012-02-03 06:26:12
I think WCG would rather exclude CS from their discipline list than fix the rulebook

I am too lazy to read every coment, but my opinion is, that if somebody wanna play WCG so make a 1 country team. What is bad about it? Maybe danish will get tired of no WCG, and they make a only danish team. As I said it last time, it would be awesome.
2012-02-03 09:58:15
that would be nice. wcg is not something like nations cup, for 2 reasons:
1. team representing country is always clan, unity of 5 ppl who stick together, not the best players of that country;
2. 2 teams that can represent one country also break this nations cup idea.

wcg should be prestigious event like eswc, iem, dh...

of course, all this should be done if they care even a little bit about cs 1.6.

I dont get that rule . It doenst make sense .
2012-02-04 04:30:07
Srry but they won't change rules only for 1.6. As always blind people think that CS is the only team game on WCG.
WCG is like Olimpic to changing rules will be killing the spirit of this event.

WCG is about national teams and national representatives anyway, not club teams, just like ENC or clanbase NC.

Hopefully SK and fnatic (as an example) will understand that this year and put together one or two 'mix-teams' to play in the WCG qualifiers.
2012-02-05 14:22:39
+1 agreed
2012-02-06 12:45:02
WCG 2008 CS 1.6 : 102.500$
WCG 2011 CS 1.6 : 33.000$

ESWC 2006 CS 1.6 : 160.000$
ESWC 2011 CS 1.6 : 33.000$

1.6 is still huge and better than fps games but you can see this result when you compare to old 1.6

Even it'snot certain that there will be WCG 2012 for CS 1.6, so nobody has nothing to say them.

That's what the WCG's sponsors and admins suppose to do, and the event would be interested.
I can't imagine there is no SK fnatic and mouz !
