Something I am toying with, v5

Hey guys, long time no see.. I have been a tad busy with my new job, after finishing my thesis it was sadly time to join the real world, and I have been working as an IT consultant for a company called Capgemini. Anyways enough about that.. I have not forgotten about you guys, and will try to squeeze in more time for HLTV.org coding in the future..

First I had some small changes to the HLTV.org Android app that I felt I want to share though, so if you have not already downloaded it give it a new spin, it has gotten a new spiffy action bar, and a few bugs have been squashed, I still use it every day to get notifications when new news are posted, so I can keep track of the lazy HLTV.org news writers (especially Pus).

The update app is on the market, grab it from market.android.com/details?id=org.hltv&feature=search_result or simply scan this barcode:


Also remember, only notifications for new news is currently enabled, not personal notifications even though it is in the app settings. Make sure to enable the news notifications in the menu (press the menu button when viewing the news list) if you wish to receive them..

Also I'd love to hear if some of you are still using it, and if so, if you have thought of any cool features you'd like to have added..

A mobile version of scorebot would be awesome :P

And yes, I use it to follow the pro-scene since I'm not playing anymore until next summer, and getting the notifications work fine for me :D

Edit: a problem I've found is that sometimes there are some news, let's say B and 2hrs later A. Well, what I've seen is that when you tap in the notification bar to read A it shows you B, the last you read, so you have to navigate through menus to read the new one... I hope I explained myself.

It's true that I haven't found this problem in a while, so maybe it's fixed.

Well, first I'd like to do a really big update for the scorebot on the site, when and if I ever get that done, I'll certainly look to put it in the app..

I don't see any option to close the app without logging out your profile.

Maybe there is, but I don't see it and its annoying for me, I don't want the app 24/7 in background state and if I logout, then I have to login again the next time, the login/password saver doesn't work.

Been using it since the day you made it public. Still use it for the notifications and can now share them directly via the share options.

Suggested feature 1: URL shortener for sharing
Suggested feature 2: DIGG and Reddit support

Feasible?

Hmm... The sharing is done via other apps installed on your phone, I dunno if Digg and Reddit have apps, but if they do installing them should do the trick..

I'll think about url shortening, maybe we can use the same urls that we use for twitter? e.g. "http://hltv.org/n/1234"
