The Realism of the Competitive Scene. What makes a fanboy?
We spend all day of every day for many years now calling each other the words "fanboy" and "noob". We judge each other everyday based on our nationality and that we can't cheer for our national teams. Though at the end of the day, what makes a fanboy?
Well since CS started as a competitive game, we always heard the following: "NoA is the best no one can beat them! SK Gaming is the best! coL froD awp unstoppable! No one can win vs Sunde, mTw will always win! Poland StronK! fnatic dreamteam best talent in the world, winning all of 2009 they are unbeatable! Na'vi Davi markeloff too strong and edward pistol master!"
What difference is that to a normal fanboy? Well looking at the quote above what do you notice? Well for one, people always over exaggerate and at the end of the day; all of the above teams have been beaten. Does that mean we stop cheering for our teams? No.
A normal fanboy is a person who favorites a team, an extreme biased fanboy claims that the teams are too strong and no one can beat them.
WAKE UP CALL, if you want to gain any respect on these forums or any CS related forums; then stop claiming that your team is unbeatable! It has become SO BAD that it's hard to get a decent discussion anymore without people naming each other fanboys and start insulting each other into oblivion.
Please, in the name of the mature people on these forums that can comprehend understanding. Try to keep your discussions clean and to the point. You can claim one team is stronger than another based on your opinion, sure. Though please refrain from being too biased and insulting each other's teams just because you can't understand the term "being a fanboy".
Let's enjoy our time here, and not be considered an immature community to other competitive games' forums. Why do you think "Pro gamers" never post? For many reasons sure, but one of the main reasons is to avoid unnecessary conflict or be smothered by the community in both negative and positive comments.
Thank you for your time, and let's enjoy FCL shall we? :)

Nice reading, couldnt agree more.
Tbh haven't seen anyone call their favourite team unbeatable, but ok.
In a direct way, maybe not as common. In an indirect way people consider their teams a much higher level than other teams at certain times. It's a nuisance because at the end of the day, it's an E-sport and every team has a chance; if they win they are the best in the world and if they lose they suck. Every team wins and loses, regardless.

Sure, but I hope you spotted that your exaggeration was woefully ironic ;)
Well it still happens, so it's not exactly an exaggeration because I do read those types of comments here and there. I am not stating every person says teams are "unbeatable" but the point of the blog is to target immaturity generally, and not the intention in the words they use.
Good Read! Hope people will follow :-)
Didn't read but sad that all of you did :D
let people have favourites. it doesn't matter. you need to be TOLERANT. if you hate it so much, just disregard it. what is posted about favourite teams/players really doesn't impact on your life at all... although if it does, maybe you need to rethink a few things?
Do you think you're just going to tell people who follow their favourite football teams/players to stop talking about it? it's half of the element of supporting a team!
I personally don't really care for the fanboy-isms myself but i'm still allowed to have a favourite!

I believe you misunderstood me m8, I am not judging people for having favorites. I am judging people who speak ill of each other and become very immature.
For example, if you say ...fnatic will beat ESC (for example), and then someone tells you "no ESC is much better than fnatic you stupid Swedish fanboy". You will naturally be a bit annoyed, right? 1. He would claim you are a fanboy because you're Swedish (again example), and 2. He is being aggressive because you dared to claim your favorite team would beat his. Then there will be a massive flame war about which team is better. You have the right to have a favorite team and you can state your opinion that you think one team will beat another team. People become either really aggressive or passive aggressive for the wrong reasons.
There's having favorite teams, and there's being too aggressive. That is my point.

if someone's that ill tempered or blind then there's really no point arguing. the stubborn will always fight the stubborn. do your best to stay out of it and you've got nothing to worry about :)
I do stay out of it that's why you never see me in a flame war on the forums :P. Though it doesn't hurt to try to enlighten people and give people an epiphany and change the way they act. :P

dare_dev1l stronk, other wronk.
Well, agreed with author.
Still being a fanboy is not a worst thing. I like to read battles between two fanboy groups sometimes. :]

*flexes*
lol thanks, and true sometimes the flame wars become so silly/simplistic that it's entertaining to read.
EDIT: I remember the flame between Polish and Brazilians back in ...2006 I believe, that was really entertaining to watch. :P

Good read. Very well said :)
shut up!!! foxj is the best in the world!!!!! K1CK ! <3
Totally agree with you mate, you can't even get a decent discussion now, good blog :)
This website seems to be packed with people under the age of 17 or so, or at least they act that way. They either don't speak English very well or simply cannot articulate their points and views in a comprehensive manner.
I am certainly a fanboy, just of CS in general, I don't condemn people for having favourite teams and players, but I will admit it's becoming increasingly boring to watch people argue about these things, especially when racial discussion gets involved. I guess it's no different from football and other sports, it's bound to happen, people are ignorant and, well, the anonymity that the internet permits makes this sort of problem more common.
There are still plenty of people here that just simply enjoy the CS coverage and appreciate what the HLTV staff do, people like me. Although, admittedly, people here make me rage sometimes and I can't always keep my mouth shut (even though I'm typing :o)

well, I don't think that I need any respect on some forums, which are made to express your opinion about smth, not to gain respect. Anyway agree with everything else you wrote.
Btw, don't forget about trolls, who are doing this just to piss off others.

True, though no one can do anything about trolls. At the end of the day, a lot of people have figured out the difference between a troll and a guy simply being stupid.
Dude you forgot "Frod vs. 4Kings on cbble. One of the best POV's I've ever seen."
lol I think that's more trolling than raging :P
and i agree with u fRoD >>>> ALL
