My eyes are open and you're all asleep. Or... vice-versa?
Let's start off with who I am as a player, my handle is obviously, "sike", you all have definitely never heard of me. Over the many years I've been on probably 10 different active CS handles but, "sike" lasted the longest. I was an avid member of the gotfrag community since it started which was I believe early December 2002. Which is all very useless to say now, there was a time when that meant something, that time is long gone. But forgotten? Hardly. Especially by someone who was as big of a nard as I was.
I was young, and wanted to breathe counter-strike, on nights I didn't have anything planned breathe counter-strike is exactly what I did. Starting in the morning and ending in the next morning on many occasions. I thought to myself on multiple occasions of become a pro and getting articles and especially movies about my skills. You must understand one thing about noobs of the past, movies were a huge freaking deal. If you had a movie showing some incredible shots that lasted for a while and was decently edited your name is going to explode on the NA scene and possibly the euro scene. I'm sure some possibly even many of you have had the pleasure of watching Hard Clan - Die Hard. This was to be believed to be one of the trademark movies that started the craze for players with good aim to make movies.
Moving to the future this became my goal to release a movie collected of great frags and have it edited well, along with many players who shared a common goal. Mine, however, was never made. Why? Because after a while a new goal came in mind which had little to do with movies, it was all about making it to the invite league of CAL and I bad worked my way through the mediocre teams and found I was actually on decent team. We had moved are way from open to main with some resistance mind you before the premier and intermediate leagues had been added. We were playing well but the thing that plagues all teams is the inevitable split. We split only to reform with two new players, by this time premier had been added and we crawled our way into premier only to be shoved out by aspiring teams who would soon become big names in the NA scene. At the time of me wanting to participate in a CPL badly every NA team had famed 3D as it's trademark US team but our team always had a liking to Rival/GamerCo(who I still feel to this day were incredibly underrated despite great runs in back to back CPLs) finally then could they get the recognition I felt they deserved. Aspiring to join this team I practiced during my redefine from school for months and yes, my studies started to slip slightly as I was racking in worse grades than usual. Clearly, just by looking at my English I could still use a grammar class but I am trying. ;) I decided that with my slipping studies to take 5 months off of counter-strike to make up for lost time and it helped a lot. I came back rather sloppy as the CS meta-game had kicked into overdrive like I had never seen before. Regardless Sweden were sti the giants. Also the ever popular NoA had fallen apart. (Element is still the most legendary player ever who is never discussed) I felt my skills were bad so I had begun training I still aspired to be a pro for some reason. But I maintained my studies this time around. I finay accepted my fate as not ever to become a professional as it would reduce my studies to much but I still played for fun and somehow became better than I've ever played around 2008. Playing in the ESEA league this time around. Until my time was done as a player in early to mid 2010 when I quit playing cs completely but still watched multiple tournaments and pros play as I had always. It was becoming routine it was simply part of my life not in a bad way either. I just enjoyed spectating.
Moving on from me the player as if that introduction wasn't long enough.. Lol I rant. I wanted to touch on things that have been going on in the years an information I had skipped over, more toward the main ideal of this blog now, the whole CS is dying part. Around 2004 is when I first started hearing words of CS dying and after source released that's when things got really interesting as an explosion of people thinking it would be enevitable that it would happen extremely soon which was obviously not the case as time has proved that. The talk of death continued onward and the debates dragging on from players on both sides of a split community due to CGS. No one was prepared for this split not to say it wasn't entirely unexpected but certainly unprepared for. We have kept going strong 1.6ers and now is the time to bask in the glory this game has provided us. The high level of play these days is so insane if you took one Ayer from any top team it could be loord from ESC(considered to be needing replaced although many don't understand his team role) and put him in an oldschool team with the skill he currently has he'd dominate most games. Because the game has continued to grow. We loved it then and we love it now. Why? Because it's simply the best team based FPS there is. Nothing can match nor marvel it.
CS may be declining but it is not dead yet which is why we must keep our head strings and stop making ignorant comments such as the game is already dead. This game has a legacy and you disrespect the legacy everytime you say such things. CS must have a silent death if it's to meet it's demise and it will not go without a fight. The fanbase keeps this epic game alive. Alive it will remain for now. Enjoy the game for the glory it has produced do not disrespect the players or the game by calling it dead it has been around and produced some of the greatest fans in and FPS game there has ever been. This is a game we all have admired and played and enjoyed countless times and of course raged at because of the sheer competitive spirit of the game. Do not let a legacy die aloud let it die silently if it's to meet it's end. We, the fans, are the beating heart of the game and it has given me friends outside of the game as well. Enjoy the game, play the game, and honor the game you love.
I ask my 1.6 bros to unite and not let the name of the game stand alone because as long as we are here we will keep the heart of CS 1.6 beating.
Feel free to leave feedback if you want more blogs on my experience in the NA scene I'd be happy to post more in my freetime from work. This is merely a glimpse of all the things I cod write on such an amazing game that all started out as a mod that was free to download online, yet turned into one of the biggest FPS games ever.
Don't hesitate to leave feedback if you hated this blog as well, I don't mind and maybe I can try to touch on topics you didnt like about it.
It's a long one so if you dont read it I understand. Good day, everyone. :) wrote this on mobile so theirs probably a ton of auto correct and general errors sorry guys. :D

I rly don't know how someone can read this whole, i don't think anything bad about it in 2-3 paragraphs but this is too long, rly. :D
It's not hard. Learn to speed read, it's a valuable skill in life.
+1
I understand it'll be to long for non native English speakers and people who dont feel to take the time. I posted it mainly for the sake of getting it out there. It's my first blog. I'll try to keel the next one shorter if I make one according to the feedback this gets. :)

so everything is bad and cs is dying?
So what do you think guys? Should I write another blog next week? I'll try to keep it shorter this time. Glad some of you enjoyed it!
It will be similar or the same topic most likely. Focusing on NA CS scene in its state from 2002-2010 and its reduction in players in IRC and the change of focus toward the ESEA league.

Hey Sike, you've probably never heard of me but I've seen you around @ gf around 09. Most of your posts were constructive I recall. Wish you the best in life.
