CS ending era
Another blog about CS dying you say? I don't care. I just have something to say.
All we know that CS 1.6 era is ending.
Ok-ok, only one official announcement and only for some events outside of Europe, you say. And you are right. But let's face the facts.
I tried to summarize all of them and my thoughts about CS 1.6
I started playing this game since beta 1.1 (not CS 1.1 if you don't know, but CS Beta) in 1999-2000 year (it was time when we had no Internet in our small town, no home local networks etc.) Friends asked me if i wanna to go with them to Moscow (50 Km from my home) to play one computer game. Of course i wanted:) I liked the games from the first time i saw a computer.
The game was something unusal and impressive for me. To aim i used a keyboard instead of mouse (mouse aiming was something unusual for me after Doom, Duke Nukem 3D and Quake). I remember how friends easily killed me (they played second time, huge experience:))
It was cs_assault, cs_siege and cs_militia maps that we played. Dust era laid ahead.
I remember that game is catched me to its nets. A was addicted to it from the very first click.
After that we went back to my hometown. While sleeping i dreamed about the game...
The first computer club there opened just in 2-3 month after my first CS experience.
I'm proud that we were first in our town to go there with a Compact Disk of CS, we told about the game to admins, and were allowed to install it to club's PCs. That was the checkpoint when whole town started to play this awesome game.
More computer clubs was to come and if you came inside you saw the same picture on every screen: the CS map and weapon in hands.
Yes, there was our first championship, we played 4x4 on cs_assault and de_dust. We took second place and my first cash for a game.
Many time we spent in clubs...many hours played...many things happened.
I got money winning games, i got broken head for game, i used to steal money from my parents for game...
Yes it was disease. But i don't regret that i was ill with it.
I got many brakes from game..pauses for some years. But every time i was back to game. And i play it now.
CS is not just a normal game. It's like drug, like devil inside. You give away your soul to him.
What about now?
CS is almost over. Sooner or later it will have to be. You know it, everything has its end.
Personally i think that IEM and WCG will drop the 1.6 version of CS this year. ESWC and DH will follow. You can see an absurd amount of prize-pools on championships. Organizations will close their CS 1.6 division because there's no money from sponsors.
And I personally think that Nixon will retire from e-Sports scene as soon as CS 1.6 retire.
People need to change. It's new generation. New standarts. It's buisness. It's life.
Many players will switch to CS:GO. Many will retire. It will be new teams and players in a new game.
But it will never be new talents in 1.6
It will be no crazy wallbangs, bhopping, clutching rounds on de_train It will be no Markeloff, Neo and Forest madfans (i think they all will retire soon).
It will be no new maps.
It will be no crazy Rahim's Ezi-pizi...
It will be no Golden Five and no Navi. They are too old for new challenge.
It will be no new demos, streams and great overtime games.
It will be no new videos about Edward making -5 USP hs.
It will be no talks about whether Colon cheats or not.
And many-many other "It will be no.."
All we have to do is to enjoy CS 1.6 before it fades.
To play it while the people is still interested in it. The interest will fade quickly when competititve scene will fade away.
To watch DreamHack thinking that there's a chance that it is a last huge tournament.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In conclusion.
I'm not so young, 26 years old here. I have a job and i want a family, so i can't have much time for games. And i know exactly that i will not play any other game. I can't just play for fun, if i play i want to be the best in it(on the championship, server, map, round). And it takes much time to be able to play like that. The time that i don't have anymore.
It will be new game for many of you. For me it will not.
Everybody will make their choise. To go with a new game or to live your life, because it's real. But i'm sure that every body will never forget this f*ing amazing time.
Peace and thank you.

The 'In Conclusion' is exactly why people should stop complaining and grow up.

interesting to read.
Okey we got the point already, just stop creating 1 milion threads about cs is dead bla bla.
nice blog. I think cs will not die because of decision of WCG and IEM.Also and CS;GO will not replace CS1.6
cs:go will only replace cs 1.6 if you guys deserve it. it's really a kid guys thinks that cs 1.6 will be forever, one day it'll die and i think it's time to another game to replace cs 1.6, and in my opnion cs:go can replace cause we have no better fps game to replace cs 1.6 better than cs:go
That's the thing it will not be replaced....Less than 5% of the pros atm will switch to CS:GO so CS:GO is not 1.6's replacement.....1.6 era will end, as simple as that!
Following this failish new Counter-Strike I think that in a couple of years the CS brand will die out or at least it'll never reach a strong "popular" status

maybe yes, but i think that WCG and IEM will include cs 1.6 next year, when cs:GO fails.

nice blog,i have same feelings
I seen CS being a modification to hl to a standalone game (1.6)
I'm very pleased to have been playing this game and don't regret one thing, I've learn lots of stuff thanks to the game =)

"Nixon will retire from e-Sports scene as soon as CS 1.6 retire." and me too.......
What's truely killing CS, is everyone with these pessimistic thoughts in their minds and creating all these threads and blogs.
+1
dont buy cs go people!!!!! dont forget.
Probably you know Enemy Territory. A friend of mine used to play this game like we all played CS 1.6: he was in the best team in Spain some time when his dedication to the game was very intensive but the game didn't expand a lot to have important tournaments like 1.6 did. The game is mostly unknown now, and didn't last as 1.6 has last.
And you know what? He still finds servers to buy, gathers to play and so on... So expect 1.6 to last more than we all think right now.
On topic: nice read, it's funny to know how you - the first generation playing CS from its begginings - have experienced all this years :)

i'm sure that CS will last for some time. but with no teams to follow the interest will reduce quickly.
and more important, that people are growing, taking their real lives into first place and new players (kids) will choose CS:GO. Want we or not CS:GO is the game for the next generation and i hardly doubt cs 1.6 will get over it.

boycott CS:GO!
"cs era is ending", stop reading

the correct statement would be "competitive cs is is approaching its last days" but we can still play cs for fun :)
Nice blog. :-)
