Dreamteam CS:GO beta key contest
Still looking for a CS:GO beta key?
Hey guys!
I've decided to give another CS:GO beta key away through my own private Dreamteam league for DreamHack Summer. The league is called "lurppis" and can be joined at www.hltv.org/?pageid=233&eventid=917&leagueid=7416
So it doesn't get too boring, I will raffle the key away among the top 20 finishers in my league (if you placed in the top three overall you do not qualify as you will already have won more prizes from HLTV.org) to keep it slightly more exciting until the end.
Good luck!
If you wish to take part in more giveaways or follow me around, you can do so via my Facebook or Twitter pages where I try to keep people up to date!

Update:
Dreamteam has finished and the lucky random winner from the tournament is "roman'", message me on the site to claim your CS:GO beta key!

I know the winner will be getting it for free, but, I don't think its wise to install SHIT on your PC, even if the SHIT was free.

+1 for sure
hurr durr im gonna hate on something i havent tried just because everybody else does, am i cool yet?
Why the 1.6 community keeps on being so arrogant towards other titles is beyond me. Biggest organizations and events keep dropping 1.6 from their lists every so often and the game is clearly e-sports wise dying, BUT you're getting a potential replacement with at least SK already regularly praccing on and still you can slate the game, which most likely you haven't even tried, only because the other stubborn retards do so.
The game keeps getting better and better with every update and is in my opinion soon very much ready for competitive play and to be the flag carrier for fps titles in future. If you have played the game for more than a couple of hours and still have that opinion then fair enough, nobody's forcing you to move but comments like this are just plain pisstaking. Just my 2 cents.
TL;DR stop hating on the potential fps savior just because it carries cs in it's title

imo the game is bad and the only people in sk who have been playing it are f0rest and gtr - they are most likely the only two players out of who you would consider top50 players in the world who have played the game.
make no mistake, a vast majority of 1.6 pros won't make the switch, and cs:go isn't promised a great future either with iem not picking it up at least for another year.
there's nothing about arrogancy in his comment - cs 1.6 simply is a far superior game in comparison to cs:go.

I see where you're coming from and I respect your opinion. I agree with you on the fact that 1.6 is a far superior game competitively and I didn't mean to come across as if it wasn't - my point was the fact that after IEM, WCG and ESWC (not sure about the latter but I'm sure there are more?) dropping 1.6 from their games list it would be stupid to deny that 1.6 is indeed taking its last breaths.
I wasn't only talking about his comment when I referred to arrogance but rather the whole hltv.org-community as the general consensus seems to be that every single game except 1.6 is horseshit, especially the ones which carry CS in their titles - instead of actually giving them a chance to become something that 1.6 once was and supporting the developement. It was the same story with 1.5->1.6, Source, CSPromod and finally CS:GO. Even though the general opinion CSP has gotten a lot more positive lately, people still seem very closed-minded about every potential FPS-genre savior. Yes, CS:GO still needs tweaking and changes to be a success but it's really not half as bad as people seem to think.
Don't get me wrong, I would obviously love to see 1.6 getting picked up again by tournaments and organizations as it's very entertaining to spectate but unfortunately I just can't see it happening anymore myself.

cs 1.6 is dying and it won't get picked up by more tournaments = most likely facts.
you can't compare cs 1.5 to 1.6 as anything even close to same as switching to cs:s or cs:go which are on different engines.
people are warming up to csp because they realize it's the best option there is left.
i think cs:go is just as bad as people make it out to be, but everyone's free to form their opinions - i already have mine.
valve isn't interested in developing it the way current professional gamers want it to be, so i don't have any faith in them being able to make the game significantly better in the coming months - but hopefully that does happen.

Although chje has a very good point, my opinion on this topic seems to be lying in lurppis hands.
"Valve isn't interested" - and that's the thing.
I really do not understand why don't they try to make CS:GO as the community - beta testers and pros - want it.
Look at Dota2 - it's in its beta phase and already incredibly good. Why? Because they listened to the community.
The question is why don't Valve do the same with CS:GO..

i'm not hating, i'm a big fan of you actually. but if others can't post giveaways you shouldnt post as well (in blogs), or at least change the blog rules.
i'm guessing it's different because i'm a staff member but i could always stop posting them and not let everyone know but it wouldn't help anyone - i'd rather give everyone a chance.
Could you hint me who hasn't been allowed to post giveaways? I just hope you do not refer to those threads in the CS:GO forum that are nothing but scams and therefore are rightfully deleted.
I posted one DOTA2 giveaway, and then a admin removed it. I was not mad or something like that. He was very kind and helpful, said to post in the forum and even copied my text. Still, i think you understand my position, after seeing lurppis's blog. Like i said, no hate. About scams, well i get your point, although I've already made a giveaway before, being very successful. But yeah, you can't determine if it's a scam or not.
I see your point. Thank you.
Tomi, tell Valve that we don't like CS:GO
i think they're aware
If they do, why they are killing 1.6 ?!
like every company that makes games, their goal is to make money, not good games
I would argue that, this is not the case with valve, since they still are a private owned company, Gabe has made his money and they instead invest allot to develop gaming, we have had Steam, getting people accused to pay for custom-stuff (hats in TF2) and have tried develop cross-plat-forming (this is something they have in mind for the next-gen consoles (if not cloud-gaming and smartp hones take over from there), both hardware and software companies) which obviously would have boostet the eSport scene, if it worked.
And Valve + Shitty Games (does not compute). If I as a developer company saw a small group of gamers (yes we are) constantly complaining about my game, would I give them the finger too. A new game can easily grow a large community fast (we have seen it with LoL, HoN and SC2) they do not need to stick with ours (full of stubborn people). My opinion is that we better move on, so we can use all the experienced we gained in the new community.

we had had steam which made all of the people at valve (with any power) multi-millionaires - money.
hats in tf2 and other micropayment models - money.
cross-platform gaming - more profit due to consoles playing vs PC - money.
they try to make money, not please you with their releases. they realize how huge cs 1.6 community is, no doubt about that - they just have no way of controlling it.
i don't plan on moving to a new community but if you wish, feel free to do so - longevity and history are gone with cs 1.6's demise and that's what i was interested in.

The comment I would make here is that it is a bit misleading to imply that making money and pleasing people is contradictory. I don't think necessarily that you think so but just saying.
I think the bigger "issue" is that companies like Valve have no experience of situations where they would actually have made a game with the competitive side in mind and they have very little idea of which details of a game are good for the competition and which are not. One can see it also with sc2 since Blizzard has made some very strange design choices, such as the Colossus unit, which noone from the community seems to really like but Blizzard somehow thought it would be a good idea.
If for instance Blizzard would have succeeded even better with sc2, it would likely be much more successful as a game in Korea (where I think it is overshadowed still by sc:bw and now LoL) as well as other countries, and they would make more money at the same time. By getting more people interested, they would also sell better with their expansions etc.

of course, but it's pretty obvious most publishers aim for games that the mass market will like and get tons of sales quickly before the game will die, as opposed to a game that might not be as popular at first but if it's good enough and stays out there as long as cs 1.6 (not that it's likely or necessarily even possible) it will generate way more revenue in the long run.
imo it's obvious HPE are making choices that the general public with millions of newbies will like at the expense of the competitive side.

If they really wanted big-money, would they have gone the Activision way (CoD for the oblivious). But this is not the case.
They actually invited the community to test the game while developing and have shown interest for their fans. The feedback from gamers in the states are far better than, what we see here in Europe. And they will probably take the game to them from the start, especially with the easy matchmaking-system etc.
And of course they plan on making money, but there are many ways to do that. Valve isn't a standard gaming-company, who have been taken over by smart business men, to pump the profits, at least not yet.
Only hardcore 1.6s are complaining, but we are a dying breed, so we don't matter.
Its fair that you will quit gaming overall, because CS:GO is inferior to 1.6, but they are not killing 1.6, just because its their game. Valve are not to blame for the lack of sponsors, they are clearly not here and its been that for long. As U said, they have to make money, and therefore develop new games, but Valve actually listen a bit to their community before doing so. Some think they haven't listened enough but we will see, I think CS:GO will thrive as a eSport game.

i never said they are killing cs 1.6. i am perfectly fine with how many tournaments are left even this year as long as it's 1.6, that interests me.
we will see what tournaments pick up cs:go, if iem and mlg turn it down i can't imagine it getting very big.

I would argue that had Valve at some point started supporting 1.6 or CS:S in the form of implementing an ingame matchmaking system or any other features which they are now bringing to CS:GO, either of these games could be far bigger than they currently are. So in some strange indirect way someone could blame Valve for their total lack of support for cs games for the past 8 years or so (especially considering they also released CS:S when it was pretty broken and only in recent years HPE has started patching it).
I also don't see any logic in the statement where Valve would somehow make more money if they would just release CS:GO without a beta and not listening the community. Them making CS:GO a better game will improve the response of the community, and thus increase also Valve's profits. Of course there is nothing wrong with making a profit especially when it's done with a good game but the statement just didn't really make sense.

Well of course even Valve has the profits in their sights, otherwise they would be out of business. I would imagine Steam for instance has increased their efficiency in distributing their games and patches immensely and others probably have to pay something to Valve to get their game for sale on Steam (no idea if this is the case but I would imagine so).
Generally making a better game will also lead to more profits if we compare to a similar game with the same licensing, brand etc. but poor gameplay. However, a fun game isn't enough for it to be great competitively. The dilemma here is more between having to cater for the masses to get the money while the esports crowd would like the games to be made from the ground up with the competitive side in mind. Since esports is pretty new, Valve for instance may not even have a proper idea what kind of games actually are great competitively. It's safer to make a game that will sell for sure than it is to make a competitive game with the risk of it failing and never catching the attention of the masses.

Key plz :P
omg guize did u not see pus tweeted a csgo key on his twitter??? http://www.twitter.com/PusHLTVorg/ you should totally follow that guy!!!!
follow someone in twitter just because tweeted a cs:go key ??? hahahahahahahaha yeah ... maybe tomorrow :)
Since CS1.6 is based on openGL...its graphics cannot be improved...but its gameplay is unmatched and unparalleled...i think valve should stop all their CS titles exept CS1.6 and regard it as the last and best counter-strike ever...
STOP MAKING FUCK**G THREADS/BLOGS about cs:go
we don't give a fu** , understand this?
Go and buy on steam 1000000 times cs:go
That game SUCKS , i prefer play Mario than cs:go

Guys, why you are saying so bad things about this game in BETA, isnt it better when people are going to have keys and see if this game is real shit or its going to be better in next updates?
btw. I doubt that 1% of people writing cs:go is shit have this game

But the open beta has already been announced :)
Really kind of you to make such an action.
But CS:GO will never complete CS. 1.6 is so amazing by comparison to CS:GO, I mean they wanna have some realistic graphics but it is really realistic to have so much boxes on each map ?

ylei
i only liked de_dust 2 in CS:GO :o
:(
For those who don't know, CS:GO will be released on August 21st on PSN, XBLA and PC for $15 on all platforms. I wish that Valve would delay this as it is simply not enough time to fix the game and make it more playable before release, they tried to add more 1.6 features but it's still Source imo.
Here are impressions of CS:GO from some 1.6 professional players if anyone is interested.
