More to follow soon. Read and enjoy! Constructive criticism is always welcome.

To many, he was a pompous son of a bitch! A cocky player who had respect for no one. But to the world of e-sports, he will always be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. In my opinion, he precedes skill wise if compared to the great Tommy "Potti" Ingemarsson. I'm talking about none other than Ola "elemeNt" Moum. The man had leadership thrust upon him. Everything he touched seemed to turn to gold. No matter what team he joined, they seem to excel. The likes of eoL, GoL, SK-Gaming, NoA, 4K, MiBR and MYM.

His first leap of glory was with the Norwegian powerhouse eoLithic. With other great players like XeqtR, knoxville, Naikon, Luke and Dark, he lead the team to various podium place finishes. He also gave us some amazing matches with the Swedish powerhouse SK-Gaming (more info in part 1). Later on, elemeNt goes on to join Gamer Online (GoL) leading them to a 2nd place at both CPL Summer and Winter 2002. They came up short against SK and Team 3D respectively. For those who watched the final match at CPL Winter 2002, they may remember it by the famous quote of Ron "Rambo" Kim: "Whose aug is this?" ;)!

After the disbandment of eoL, SK-Gaming didn't waste any time and signed Moum. After a 3rd Place finish at ESWC, SK never looked back winning 47 matches in a row without dropping a map! It is still remembered as one of the greatest eras of competitive counter-strike. It was considered the best year for SK till 2011. Here is what they achieved with Ola Moum:

3rd ESWC 2003
1st CPL Summer
1st CPL Winter

Without elemeNt, SK got the following:
1st CPL Copenhagen (with SpawN)
1st WCG 2003 (with SpawN. elemeNt couldn't play as he wasn't Swedish)
3rd Clickarena (with brunk)
1st CPL Cannes (with brunk)

In 2004, Ola lead NoA to become one the the best sides in the world beating the likes of EYEBallers.se, DSky.fi, Gamer Co, coL, Titans.dk and mousesports.de! They set the world record for becoming the 1st team to come from the losers bracket and win a major event. The only other team to ever do that was coL in 2006. NoA was also the only ever inter-continental team in counter-strike history.

elemeNt joined the Brazilian powerhouse MiBR after helping NoA to a 1st place at WEG Season 1. His stay wasn't long there. After a couple of months he joined the British team of 4Kings but that didnt last long either. He managed to scrape a 4th place at CPL Barcelona with MiBR and a 3rd place with 4Kings at WEG Season 2. For CPL Winter 2005, elemeNt joined the united5 from USA only to end in a disappointing 13th place finish.

What came next was quite a surprise for the whole gaming community as Moum was signed with the German mousesports. At the start, it all looked good as they managed to win EuroCup 2006 but after that it was all downhill. Failing to win EPS and a 5th place at the WSVG CPL Intel Summer Championship (ISC) 2006, elemeNt was relieved of his services. Ola returned home to join MYM where he led his team to another podium place only coming short to the unstoppable fnatic.se!

After the small stint in MYM, they failed to make their appearance in IEM II and WCG 2007. Later that year, MYM.no was released and Ola "elemeNt" Moum announced retirement. Although, in 2008, elemeNt came out of retirement to participate at WCG. For a player out of retirement, he made another impact as him and his team only came short to mTw.dk and Korean eSTRO ending in a 4th place.

Even though he never had a stable team like Potti or HeatoN, he lead almost all his teams to podium place finishes. No matter how his attitude was, he will be remembered as one of the greatest in-game leaders of all time!

Ahh the memories. SK took Ola from eoL and then eoL folded up. That era was probably the best for me

SK : HeatoN Potti brunk fisker ahl
eoL : elemeNt XeqtR knoxville Naikon DarK/Damien

Its too bad SK didnt have SpawN in those times because brunk was coming to the end of his career and I think the matches would have went a lot different but the Norwegians seemed to dominate the Swedes in that period.
2012-07-01 13:11:31
Most overrated player ever, after XeqtR.
2012-07-01 22:02:28
his achievements say otherwise :). but again its ur opinion
2012-07-01 22:49:05
any to backup that bold statement with?
