CSPromod .08: My first real attempt (frag highlights included)
So as of yesterday me and some friends decided to in house scrim for 10 or so hours to give CS Promod a real test. Be aware that a lot of issues and concerns I may bring up may very well be fixed in the upcoming patch.
Switching grenade:
Sometimes when attempting to switch grenade when carrying three, it will only go to the second one. I believe this may possibly be due to the fact that pressing the key for it only opens the menu to select grenade. But constantly throwing the wrong grenade because of this does hinder some rounds.
Scoreboards:
It feels hard to see the information of who is alive and who is dead. My name half lit when dead is also offputting. This does not necessarily need a fix though based on the fact you can see how many teammates are alive at the bottom of the screen. On the plus side you can no longer relay the information of if the Terrorists have the bomb when you are CT.
Run shooting with AK:
Remember moddii's frag clip on inferno when he runs and pulls his mouse down while spraying with the AK and destroys mouz? Simply put you cannot do this in Promod. Its a useful spray tactic that unfortunately has no affect in this version. Would really like to see the dev team get this working.
AWP Reload Time:
For some reason the awp has an added action when reloading which means you have to wait slightly longer before using it again. The famas reload bug sort of seems to be there still aswell.
Boosting people getting stuck:
This one happens a lot. You go to boost someone and you become frozen on their head while the person below you is crouched (May be fixed in .09?). Also for some odd reason if you jump on someones head and press ctrl you hear a sound client side? Kind of strange.
Spam angles visable:
I'm not sure if this one is intended or not but basically you can tell if a wall is spammable based on checking the opposite side of the wall. You can clearly see exactly what angle and where the bullets are being shot from. Also ladder base is now open to being spammable which is sort of strange.
Sound:
This ones the most important one. As of now you can hear through any wall. It's all based on distance from you to the person. On enclosed maps (de_nuke) you will always know exactly what the other team is doing. Another issue is sometimes one person running on their own sounds like two people, very annoying for communication purposes. Thirdly the sound in general just is not that great, constantly not knowing where the sound you are hearing is coming from. I think at this point sound is the biggest issue in pro mod and I really hope they can ammend it.
Minor issues:
Some small map problems that annoy me are vents on de_nuke having too much health. Some crates that are boppable in 1.6 which are not in Promod. Some boost spots on de_dust2 (above doorways for example) being removed from the game completely. Ladders on basically every map actually sticking out and not being able to swing from them correctly. The railing in top site on de_nuke (often falling to floor losing half health for no reason). People being near impossible to see on de_aztec from a distance in some situations. The fact stopsound can only be used with sv_cheats 1.
Player models:
I feel they are slightly undersized. You can notice this when they are at a distance or standing on objects such as the vents. I feel like I'm shooting at horse jockeys.
Microphones while dead:
The fact that you can hear dead people on your team talking when you are still alive is really frustrating. We use TS3 for communicating and in game while dead to talk amongst ourselves without annoying the people still alive. This needs fixing.
Demo bug:
As you will notice in my video the demos have this strange lag. Also when fast forwarding/rewinding the entire game freezes up while it tries to do it.
Those are the ones I can think of while writing this up. As I said earlier some may be fixed by .09 release. Overall I did enjoy it (a lot more than I ever enjoyed CSS/CSGO) and it feels as challenging and rewarding as 1.6. One thing people need to remember is Counter-Strike had no backing originally. It was a person wanting to make a great game they enjoy. CSPromod is exactly what the original Counter-Strike creators set out to do. So be helpful and give the game a fair shot and provide feedback. Who knows once its implemented to CSGO it may take off as the next big competition title.

All the small little bugs are annoying and in this video. It's clear you can see them in your blog and video. If you havn't read it indenial i'd comment rather on the situation of the game than seeing a "frag highlights" AND GOING awol on the actual subject mate.

It's too late now to get these things added for 1.09 but if we decide to release a hot fix after they could be with that or in 1.1's release at least.

also another bug which might be more of a major concern, some people have a bug that when they are downloading those .ain files (in sourcemods\cspromod\maps\graphs) their game freezes. the apparent fix is removing steam in game community but working out an actual fix that allows people to have steam community enabled would be worth looking into if has not been already

We both were talking about the delay between kills on his screen he seems to of been right next to the box but in his POV it shows what my client sore but in his client at the time he was hidden behind the pole/box my one bullet sounded delay as well in the demo u can pick it up. Weird ocrnce.
