CS:GO - The future of CS ?
Hello everyone,
I have been inactive (and still am) for a long time and didn't really follow the scene until few days when I decided to enter HLTV.org to see what's up , and to be honest , I was shocked.
I have never seen HLTV.org like that, and it's not because the website is bad, but it's because there's nothing really to update.
There are tons of videos and you can barely see interesting articles regarding good tournaments or updates in top teams.
What's happening? The scene is inactive? The scene is dying?
My honest answer is yes ...
What should you do as a community? well.. call me an idiot but I really think that although CS:GO is shit for the moment, switching to this game soon is the only way to keep the CS scene alive somehow.
Watching SK dropping their CS team was shocking, but it's just the beginning for sure.
I'm pretty sure that very soon lots of tournaments will drop CS 1.6 as well , it's just a question of "when" they will do it, not a question of "if" they will do it.
Anyway .. don't get me wrong for one moment. I still think that CS:GO as a game is very strange for CS 1.6 players, and in order to make it perfect for those players, they need to improve lots of things.
For now, CS:GO would be easier to use by CS:S players I suppose.. so changing it to something in the middle between CS:S and CS 1.6 is the most reasonable and fair thing to do for both communities in case CS:GO aims to replace both games and enter as the new main game.
Watching your comments as a community about CS:GO just shows how negative you are about this change, and it's understandable .. but the real question is if you wouldn't have any other option left , would you follow / play CS:GO ? or just drop this game forever ?

no
cs go its not cs
cs go its not cs
yes it's cs
COUNTER STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE
you like it or not.
dumbass
just becaus it share name not mean it have same gameplays :)))))))) or style of emotion
it's new version of counter strike. cs:source also is different. 1.5 was different from 1.6
cs:go is different from the others, but it will stick players from 1.6 and source together, and we will have awesome community, big tournaments, and a lot of fum. Just give it a try, it's new game. It needs more updates, or 1.6 was the first release of cs?

It's not a new version, it's another version.
You think it's different, that's what makes it a whole different game. Just because it carries the same name it's not a new version of it. Not even the same persons made csgo.
Yes it's counter-strike, but it's not counter-strike to me.

yeah
+1000000

I would play QUAKELIVE in an instant if i had to choose 1 FPS left to play on this planet. Because not only does it carry over modes/competitive structure from previous versions of quake3/cpma/vq3 It still is the same FUCKING GAME but with more polished graphics.
Valve made the decision to split CS now they're reaping no benefit from CS this is a TEST the $13 / 15 we spend on this will tell them what way to go about when creating the next counterstrike installment. Remember they made NO $$ only off resales. CS had made a tonne already from already used CDKEYS

Nice choice, except that QuakeLive have died a year ago. Now they only have like 3 lan tournaments in a year.
CS:GO and ShootMania are replacing CS and QuakeLive in FPS games at the moment. If you don't like them, then start playing the games like LoL, DotA2 or SC2...

^this
it's very sad watching these comment's from kids that didn't even tried cs:go...
If 1.6ers were in whole this beta thing earlier and if they were sending feedbacks, game would develop towards their needs for sure, now we need to pray that valave guys will do it instead of us.
Cs is dead, yes that's the fact, csp is taking too long to launch, and i think that we need to switch if we wanna play "CS" in the future, but sadly, by watching these comments day by day, I'm almost sure that more than 60% of players here would play dota2 lol or quake rather than csgo.
Main problem was maybe lack of beta keys or lack of will to test this new game...

You maiby vgot alot of bad comments but dont forget you will always have other ones giving feedback about that game because they like it.
And stop thinking they will try to make it shine as much as 1.6 did.
It will never be the same game and we all know that.
I will go on csgo ? yes i guess so when Lans will stop 1.6
FPS games dont equal to RTS or strategy its different.
CS:GO > 1.6
idiots
cs go will be play school boys like you and mad gtr and forp fanboys like you to

Are you retarded? Pro scene is dead, nobody cares that there are 5 bazillion players if there are no tournaments and pro teams.
CS:Source is dead and look, it still has 47000 peak, almost the same as CS1.6
CS:Source is dead and look, it still has 47000 peak, almost the same as CS1.6
And does the pro scene allows you to install CS for the first time in ur PC ? --' pffff
i doubt theres gonna be people who will install 1.6 when cs:go is out.
yes those who have low computers performance :p lol just joking
1.6 is the 1st game online ever made and there was many many awesome games with fucken good graphiques with online mod but they didn't succeded, and you think CS:GO would replace it ? you will say "YES" once it's in more than one event it would be possible to replace more games , but i will "NO" maybe for 1 or 2 years ... that's all

lol 40,000 players playing dumb shit like gungame and wc3 mod. cant find a single fucking decent pub without hackers anymore if you dont want to pay for esea. maybe europe is different, but here in the states, 1.6 is DEAD
Competitive cs.
I for one, do not care about pubbing 14 year olds in highly populated/poor countries. That's what's keeping the numbers so high.

considering that CS:Source finals can't seem to be watched by more than 2k specs I don't think neither graphic lover kids are attracted to the CS:S scene.
Probably cuz it's full of nobodies in 1.6 and therefore they don't have any relevance to the history of CS and eSports, thats one of the reasons why CS 1.6 is at least 20 times more popular.

What does cs:s have to do with anyhthing? 1.6 is drastically declining competitively and that's that.
CS:S remains as the example of what happens when a new CS is terrible. If CS:GO doesn't correct what needs to be corrected it is likely that it will turn out to be a CS:S reincarnation.
It's dying competitively.
cs 1.6 did already a vs css
now cs 1.6 vs cs go
i think it will be over for cs 1.6 because a new game is gonna attract new sponsors,etc...
ESL dropped IEM with 1.6 even when it was still having alot of fame (prices have always been higher for 1.6 compared to all other games like LOL, SC2, ... but they are still there.. :x)
and for a new player i think cs go will win because cs 1.6 has alot of bugs or problems like :
--Server list spammed with fake servers
--ALOT of cheaters>>> no more vacbans
--MIRC Wars are half of them with a cheater in the other team
-- EAST Server's spamming your binds in your config.cfg with advertising etc...
--...
this is of course for the most of players there are = non competitive scene
When you have lans in belgium and in france
You have better prices for css then for 1.6
or no cs 1.6 in the lan game.
What alot of peeps forget is that alot of lans closed not only because 1.6 is not played anymore but because Sponsors arent willing to pay for video games?

I liked your blog specially the way that you explain how negativity the users are with CS:GO
I don't say I love this game, but you said it
"but the real question is if you wouldn't have any other option left"
We all love 1.6 as hell, but the truth that we can't keep on playing this game for long time, the era of 1.6 has ended, but you can't tell this to the kids right here.

I enjoy CS:GO :) It's nothing like 1.6, but it's still really good :)
I knew I remember your name :D How many hours u got :D:D Even though not playing ;D Used to be a lot:D I will buy CS:GO when it comes out that's for sure but if I like the game.. we'll see since when I bought Source than it sucked ass.
if you're gonna make a blog for every time you were inactive and went to hltv.org you should stop then
Yes this is the future and i hope as soon as i can play this game free.

CS1.6 is so overplayed and this last couple of months Ive been very unmotivated with the game overall therefore im very excited about cs:go becouse it brings a new dynamic to the whole fps scene and it also brings source-1.6 players together in one game which everyone should appreciate.
Dreamhack just announced that they will have a tournament with 300k SEK ($45k) I guess that will be the ultimate test to see if the competition will be as great as 1.6!
Everyone should stick together rather than whining about changes, now everyone have an equal chance to get to the top becouse everything is restarting from scratch:)

Yeah, I realized 1.6 pro scene it's over, I'll keep playing 1.6, I won't buy cs:go, but maybe i'll watch the cs:go tournaments.
Anyway I think that cs:go will die in 2 or 3 years, not gonna last 10years like 1.6 for sure

If you need some well-written articles to read just go on cadred.
*ba-dum-tsh*
But seriously folks. I think that HLTV is just waiting for the game to be released and to see whether there will be any developments to speak of. Anything else would just be pure speculation which this site doesn't really dabble in.
And to answer your question, not sure I'd drop "the game" forever - but it's just a matter of definition. CS:GO will not replace 1.6 for me but who knows, maybe CS2 will?

...CS2?
Yeah, potentially.

IMO there are no options left and my answer to this question would be quitting.

Moscow Five released their CS team , DreamHack with 45k event for CS:GO
I think you have the answer here - you can't avoid from it - CS:GO is the future , and like it or not , you will have to play it or leave it.

Uhm, M5 didn't switch to CS:GO...
CS is just dying. Shit happens.
CS is just dying. Shit happens.
You people must learn how to read properly ... did I say they switched to CS:GO ? no .. I just mentioned the fact they dropped their CS team , and they did it due to the fact there are no longer good tournaments in the future that features CS 1.6
And how does that make CS:GO "the future"?
gtr, f0rest, Xizt, Neo, + others
This is just another step that gets you closer to the end of the competetive CS scene.
SK and M5 , two of the best teams this scene had , dropped their CS squads for good due to the fact there are no longer available interesting tournaments for CS 1.6
In my blog I have mentioned the fact that it's not a question of "if" , it's a question of "when".

No doubt about that. But I still can't see why that makes CS:GO the future....
I just guess that you need to see more articles like that in order to know that CS:GO is the future.
ok
CS:GO is the future
but the game itself is just bullshit

doesn't matter if cs:go is the future, uk will be shite at it as they were/are at any cs version. bye
The future must be this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7Oqtva91x8&fea..
+1
dindt they say like a month and a half ago they will release 1.09 after 2 weeks ?? Those guys are worst that valve time
Although version 1.09 is now nearing completion, we don’t feel that it's the right time to release our update, with CS:GO so close to launch. Therefore, we will wait to release 1.09 until after CS:GO has been out for a little while. For those of you who are concerned about CSP in relation to CS:GO, have no fear - we don't view the two as affecting one another.
CSPromod.com
CSPromod.com
yeah exactly they are slow they said they will finish in 2 weeks but 5 weeks passed and its still incompleted
Yes, unfortunately it's the future of cs
yep +1
I have pre ordered CS:GO. I will play it on pub servers. If i like it, i will continue playing, else i will go back to 1.6.
"so changing it to something in the middle between CS:S and CS:GO is the most reasonable and fair thing to do for both communities"
You mean CS 1.6?
You mean CS 1.6?
Well i can say one thing - spectating a CS:GO match isn't any fun.

i really want to try cs : go hope for some free beta version or something like that :{
Look how many spectators are watching esl stream for a match that i've certainly never heard of..
csgo only become the main dot if the community wants no one is forced to move because the pro players are moving if no players 'noobs' will not have sales cs: go.
CS:GO is not the only way! There is also CSPromod, which has worse chance to become a successful, but I guess people want to play a game that is better than a game that is worse, but people are moving into it because of pro players, who are moving there for money...
oh so true
Like this
Like this
no it isn't i do not support it
CS:GO i support !
I will keep on playing CS 1.6 for fun, I knew in the beginning that i won't become a pro lol. So I don't mind too much about the pro scene. Gonna be sad that there won't be new highlights and new cs1.6 tournaments ,but I can live with it.
I've tried CS:GO , it's not a bad game ,but I will rather spend my time on 1.6.

Me too i tried this cs:go to a couple of times but still i don't like it and i deleted it from my pc :). 1.6 forever bye
ofc GO is future, if you deny it you're blind, no need for blog or anything imo
look at the name CSGO well the developers n valve staff may call it counter strike global offensive but the games real name is Counter strike Go-ne
cs 1.6 > super mario bros. on Dendy > street fighter 3 on sega > csp > shit > cs s> CoD > BF> Sonic > other games > lesbians > asians > cs go
