How I Started CS
Hello everybody, this is my first blog. A fellow HLTV member "eHK" made a post about how each one of us stumbled upon CS. The topic is extremely nostalgic for me. I started typing and it eventually became huge. I thought it would be better to post it as a blog. So here it is. Hope you enjoy it
My first multiplayer game was Halo: Combat Evolved. I liked the game because of its extended fire fights and single-click nade firing. But I gradually lost interest in it because there was no one to play it with. Playing it online was not an option because it was impossible to play with 200 ping (The only servers were in Europe).
Then there was one friend of mine "erken" who played CZ all the time. The reason he played it was because he found other games scary (I still can't understand how someone can find Project IGI scary!)
Anyways, whenever I went to his house, I found him playing this game and finally, I asked him to give me the game in a flash drive. After 2 hours of increasing impatience and a half-copied game, I yanked out the drive. Miraculously, the game worked in my PC with 25% files remaining! After completing the campaign mode of the game in Easy & Normal, I removed the game because of the repetitiveness of the bots and bad graphics. I think this was around 2005. After that, I went back to playing Halo in Heroic and Legendary.
Then in 2007, two sections of class 10 (10 A & 10 B) merged to form class 11. There was cocky guy by the nick "2000kilos" (Name is a reference to 400kg, Russian AWPr of M19 clan. He was cocky enough to say he was "5 times" better than that guy) who claimed that he was a "pro" CS 1.6 player and was a member of a "clan". Some of my friends taunted his claim (My friends just started playing 1.6, I didn't even start back then)
400kg : The Movie
Then the guy did something which changed my gaming life. He challenged us to a "clan" match. The restriction was that only classmates allowed. So it was a match between the old school & new school players. After seeing the number of interested players, it was decided to be a 7v7 match :D
So I installed CS 1.6 and played it for hours each day since we had 2 weeks to practice. I still remember the amount of tactics I devised for the 1st match (which obviously came to no use, we were just a run and gun team) and the number of CS frag videos I downloaded to see tactics.
The first CS 1.6 video that I downloaded
This is the video from which i came to learn about f0rest
So on the match day, it was Hot Shots (Old School) VS Ultimate Noobs (New School). Our team completely obliterated the old school players, with me being the top fragger. It was then when I thought “Hey, I can actually play this game quite well. Let’s see if I can improve”
That’s how everything started for me…
Hate to say it but even though "erken" introduced CS to me, it was the cocky "2000kilos" who sparked the flame of CS in me.
Thanks for reading
