The Report system, A suggestion to better clean the forums.
2013-02-21 13:53
Hey guys I'm back with another blog about how to better improve our services for this site for you young banelings, this time it will require some assistance from you although it will need to be careful in the same time. Maybe this will be a time to shine for you in terms of how to be a good admin plainly by using the report system, who knows you may get noticed for it. (A good note is that Pus will no longer be able to bully you with ban hammer threats, wouldn't that be a treat!)

Yet another moment of twisting and turning while under the bed sheets like a mediocre amateur break dancer, comes another blog!

Reporting, Do we really see your reports?

Yes we do, us admins that have rights to the ban hammer have a nice option with shining red numbers that tell us there are reports available. Sometimes reports are very mild and not that relevant where people can be a bit over sensitive so we don't act on it, does not mean we do not see the reports.

Reports that are very common but are "ignored" by us admins:

"Na'vi are going to lose this because they are *insert opinion of how good or bad they are*"
"lol"
"fnatic need a roster change!"

^ What do these reports have in common? Other than someone laughing like a hyena, they are OPINIONS. We may not be American and have it written as a catchphrase under every election, but we do have freedom of speech and everyone has a right to an opinion.

Comments that aren't allowed but are never reported (something you guys could help with):

"Sry, sry for insultes" comments will be deleted, this isn't 4chan if we wanted to look immature and illiterate to every other gaming community please find another forum to do it in.

Offensive memes usually get away being on the forums when no one bothers to open the links and notice they have some type of pornography or something offensive. REPORT THESE STRAIGHT AWAY, and posts like these will receive an immediate ban based on how bad it becomes (subtle posts may only receive warnings or 1 day forum bans).

Reporting Threads

Ok, so this has had a lot of controversy for some time. There's no "report thread buttons" right? Sort of.

My suggestion until a feature may become available in the future is to write a comment on those threads and report yourself, do not worry you are safe as long as you don't break the rules with your own comment. Admins require to go to the thread in question to see your reports, and once we notice that the thread is a spam thread we will delete it and there's no such thing as "points/blackmarks" against you for getting reported.

Threads that should be reported:

1. A "spam thread", which consists of a bot who posts about free movies or something in order to scam the members of the forum. Sometimes we miss these so REPORT THEM immediately if you want the safety of your fellow HLTV members!

2. A repeated thread, which consists of a topic that has been done and done again. Say for example if ESC brings in forest and get_right, we don't want 30 threads saying it. So report it and we'll lock/delete those threads for your convenience.

3. An offensive thread, who wants to read a thread calling out someone or trashing members? This is a forum for Counter-Strike. We are not the KKK, we are not anti-Islamists or atheists, and we are not the anti-Indian boxing club using Indians as punching bags.

Threads that should NOT be reported:

1. Do not report threads based on opinion, if someone posts an off topic saying that Ronaldo is better than Messi or whatever you football fans care about; it is none of our concern. As long as it's not a "repeated" thread, talk about what you want as long as it isn't racist or fascist.

2. Threads that talk about a topic and have off-topic comments. In the case that people are off topic about the topic at hand, report the comments themselves not the thread.

3. Reporting just cause you feel like it, just cause you don't like the topic doesn't mean it should be deleted. If you don't like the topic at hand, find another thread to look at.

Last words

Thanks for reading, if there's specific sections you're interested in please pay attention to the bold and/or italic sections in the case of TL;DR. I hope you enjoyed my blog and it helps a bit to clarify what we're looking for in your help. Please be careful what you report and hopefully this suggestion will help all of us.

Happy trolling!

Are members of the 'insultes crew' allowed to write "sry, sry for insultes"? It is a core part of our HLTV experience.

That's what I usually. I write my own comment *report* and report it then! I've read that somewhere before and have been doing it since then. :-)

can we see hows its like on an admin screen,, post pics...

Well you can tell that to the awful moderator called "Tgw1239dqwris" or whoever that is.

I air my personal opinion and they don't come across as personal towards them as persons.

It's more or less what they do and act that makes me want to despise the person.

I've been having several threads removen from the forum and have been banned for a week or two a few occasions.

The thought has ever as always come across me that the bans that have been set has always been personal towards me and not towards what I've written.

As for instance, I've outed schneider and his bustcases several times, yet I get my comment removen. The funniest part is that it's not something I've written against him, most of the cases have been something to enlighten people about him.

There're several examples that I could just grab it out, but however that doesn't neccesarly mean that all admins are bad admins.

Jonathan who's a great debater and a great moderator, is always as joyful to comment on as always. He does have some knowledge in what he says and the fact that he knows what he's saying, really does put an ease to what I write.

It's rarely that an intellectual person would moderate my comment since it's never the less, an objective opinion with facts/hardline proof.

To make HLTV a less troll site and a better place for CS users, there are many other things that is need to be done, other than just reporting thread or posts.

But its a Good initiative, i hope you guys make some more strict rules to make it a better place.

In reality, trolling is only bad if it becomes annoying and/or offensive. Such as eoNs or sry, sry for insultes is the annoying side of trolling.

The words "happy trolling" was just my way of trying to be funny, which failed of course ;).

This website has the worst moderation of any website I've been to.

You see good moderators should be deleting and banning all and any posts/posters that do:

1: Use the word saucer.
2: Trashing CS:GO mindlessly in a CS:GO thread, or 1.6 in a 1.6 Thread.
3: Creating a 1.6 vs CS:GO thread/post with no substance.
4: Any other kind of mindless hate/threats

Things that wouldn't be banned/repeatedly deleted until I had to get IRC people involved?

1: Interesting intellectual threads backed by hard stats that put 1.6 in a bad light.
2: Community members who provide content and write better quality stuff then most of the mouth breathers on here.

Of course, for that to happen the moderators would have to take the big veiny throbbing c- ego of 1.6 out of their ass and actually do their job properly. Something that's less likely to happen then CSP becoming the next big esport.

Sounds to me that your attitude is what got you banned 5 (?) times already.

You're using phrases like

"deleting and banning all and any posts/posters"
"Trashing CS:GO mindlessly"
"most of the mouth breathers on here."
"big veiny throbbing c- ego of 1.6 out of their ass"

Not that you are wrong in everything you wrote, but words like that show no torelance or respect and they show even less objectivity.

You should ask yourself if maybe it is you who is doing something wrong, and consider that maybe our moderators don't delete posts or ban people for the opinions that don't break any rules, no matter how stupid they might seem. And that what does and doesn't get deleted doesn't have to coincide with what you think about it, but with our rules.
2013-02-22 11:11:07
The main reason I got banned 5 times? Because I don't stroke the throbbing wet ego of 1.6.

And yes, I lack tolerance. I lack tolerance for stupid people, like anyone who strives to see humanity not return to the days of 'burning people at a stake' and 'Concentrating in camps'.

Sadly I have an allergy to a lot of the hltv.org userbase, also commonly referred to as 'Having an IQ above that of a luke warm bowl of water'.

And considering that every other CS community loves what I do, and that every other part of the CS community is desperately hoping for hltv.org community to go away in the same way that you might want a piece of poo upon your shoe removed, you have to wonder what hltv.org is doing wrong.
2013-02-22 17:47:47
If you're the streaming Bainshie...then I have lost a lot of respect for you just now. I don't plan on tuning in in the future.

And before you think I am some inbred, 12 year old 1.6 fan I am a serious acolyte of CS:GO and well reasoned poster. But your hatred is almost scary.

Other CS communities? You do realize hltv.org is almost there in terms of monopolizing CS coverage right? Cadred? 25% of the market at best? The rest probably take a sliver at 5%. Yet you make this site out to be a backwater of idiots and poor regulation. Sure it has its issues but it is by far the best CS coverage site out there.

And if you think the most popular esports sites are not the most prone to trolling and corrupt mods then you clearly are too young to have been around during Gotfrag days.

But like I said, all respect out the window for you.

1. I delete those comments all the time
2. That is against the rules and we do punish those comments
3. Those are usually deleted as well
4. Opinion threads, opinions are allowed.

You seem to forget there are at least 30,000+ people who come on this website and there's like what, 5 forum admins?

Are you that shallow to think that our tiny crew in comparison to how big our community is, can always be there 100% of the time to catch a comment 5 seconds after it's posted? Chances are, those comments you tend to notice are deleted if you look at them 5 minutes later. If anything, you could have been more of an assistance by using the REPORT button to helping us get there faster rather than sit there and complain about how well we do our work.
2013-02-22 11:31:28
I have been reporting comments/threads for quite a while. I'm glad to see that you, admins, care.
2013-02-22 09:26:17
Respect HLTV admins. They are moderating a community which is full of retards and trolls.

"We are not the KKK, we are not anti-Islamists or atheists, and we are not the anti-Indian boxing club using Indians as punching bags."

Hm, so "lol" is an opinion ? Sry but I don't think so. An opinion would be to express what the person finds funny.
