Internet Download Manager?
I remember I can pause a download and resume it after a few days without any problem. But now when I'm trying to pause a file and leave it for a few hours, I can't resume the file and it shows an error notification. Why? Do I have a wrong setting or something?

may be that file has no resume capability.
next time you start a download, check if it has resume capability or not before pausing.

I thought the most popular is IDM?
2012-05-22 05:35:36
cant say about popularity but its surely among the best ones you know efficiency wise
i guess the error youve got shows up because the server your trying to download from has this feature (deliberately) blocked
also mai best guess is it wont show up on other downloads its just you know the server (source) specific thing

yeah happening with me too & with my friends too.
If you just pause the file for few minutes , & then when you try to resume then it shows that the file is been crashed.

But I remember it didn't use to be like this.

Have you changed Internet providers recently or using a mobile service ?

I can imagine if you were on a dynamic IP it could possibly get "lost" when you started a new session

It also happens before I restart the session.

Here, yesterday I've tried to download 10 YT videos and put them into queue all at the same time, then I left them for work. After I got home to check it, most of them didn't have their downloads started and each had "error" status at the queue list.

so the conclusion obviously is those youtube links you use are only active for limited time so the problem you face is not on the client (idm in your case) site but on the server side
theres no much you can do except maybe you can try to download these videos parallelly (all at one time with then very limited speed per each single file) instead of doing schedules

torrents
2012-05-22 13:10:29
what's the point in using programs like this instead of uTorrent + pirate bay, isohunt etc?
2012-05-22 13:19:11
speeds obviously
and those are completely different categories idm is for http/fps file sources only meaning that aint no 'pirated' content most of the times
2012-05-23 00:19:18
so the speed is slower with torrents?
2012-05-23 00:46:21
in most cases yes and thats because its dependent on limited uploading capacity of the peers with the majority of those using home customer based internet connections and sharing perhaps more than one file at once at any given time period

+1

I don't really understand how to use torrents :P

Guys, if there's a problem while joining all the parts of the downloaded file into one part, can it be fixed?
