A new CS 1.6 to be created?
Hey guys!

If you haven't heard, 2GD is developing a new "quake game". During a Q&A today in the GD Show, 2GD mentioned creating a Counter-Strike 1.6 clone, you can hear him talk about it here:

"We could take the movement and physics of Counter-Strike, and replace Counter-Strike if CS:GO sucks"

Basically it would be a CSPromod, 1.6 with better graphics, BUT!!! with a lot of new features, such as built in tournaments, ladders, customiseable models (team logos, etc).

Maybe you could even port CSPromod to the Rebornengine to make things go faster?

Just wanted to share that CS might have a new future, discuss if this would be great for the scene :)

Didn't explain it quite well enough, it would be like an "official mod" or a "subgame" to the maingame, Reborn.

Yeah, 2GD have said many times that he finds CS 1.6 very boring - however, he respects it as an esports and have said that it would be a shame if LoL, CS:GO (and casual games overall) replaced CS, Quake and BW.

The topic is slightly misleading, 2GD's project is to create an e-Sports FPS, he never mentioned he'd do a Counter-Strike remake or anything like that, his game is made by gamers for gamers.

the title may be a little tricky, he is talking about a similar game to Quake like OP said, they didnt say anything about CS1.6. Good news anyway love quake!

that wont help anything because its basically just 1.6 with source graphics, everyone will still be starting to play newer games with better graphics etc. and also i love how 1.6 looks and i dont want anything beeing changed about it.

It will be nothing like CS. He just mentioned that they can make 5v5 mod with mechanics of CS. It is supposed to be Arena Duel FPS. But anyway I can't wait for it!
