Tried both CS:GO and CSP 1.09 Beta just now - the former doesn't even remind me of CS but CSP is amazing!

The top players will go where the money is. It will be really difficult to convince tournaments to overlook Valve's baby in favor of a player made mod (they certainly won't use both). Hopefully it can be done but I am skeptical.
2012-07-30 22:28:16
I doubt they'll love valves baby when it'll bring in 3-5k viewers

and players will play game with huge prize money because its their job

here's how it will go
CS:GO gets taken in to tournaments
few viewers
cs:go gets dropped
if the community makes csp in to something good, CSP will be played. otherwise CS will die and reborn will be the next big fpsgame.

you are maybe true but heres another way also...
cs:go gets taken in to tournaments
a lot of viewers because it will combine cs 1.6 and css competetive scene
new competetive fps game

1000 players a day, every CS:GO tournament have had under 5k viewers thus far. I belive more people would play and watch "the next big thing".
2012-07-31 05:48:49
5K views and it hasn't even been released yet.
I agree with the other person. Games backed by Valve tend to do well, and if they are aiming for the competitive scene with this one, they will probably take it, whether there is a better game on the market or not.

Well considering it hasn't really been the main feature of any large events, more of just a side show, it obviously is. Lol.

event with 1000 euro in cash. 600 viewers.
CS:GO opening cup - 3k viewers.
cph games - wasn't over a few thousand, dont remember exactly tho.
If people would be interested they would ofcourse watch and play "the next big thing". Compare CS:GO beta to SC2-beta and DotA 2 beta lol.

It's beta, not everyone can play it. and most people are just sticking with 1.6/source until they know for certain on whether or not this game will work out. Dota and Starcraft are firstly completely different games, but both had followers from a practically dead scene. So most of the players switched as soon as it was released, whereas with CS, the 1.6 scene is still pretty large, and it will take a lot longer for the players to switch over.
I also think most of the CS 1.6 scene are being childish and not watching the events, and constantly whining about CS:GO (like yourself), instead of realising that with or without you, CS:GO will be the future, as 1.6 is indefinitely dying :(
Don't reply please, I cba repeating myself :) I understand your point.

"I also think most of the CS 1.6 scene are being childish and not watching the events, and constantly whining about CS:GO (like yourself)"
We're not childish, we just dislike the game and aren't interested. This is the reason why it has few viewers, correct, people don't care.
Valve have been _pumping_ out keys since January, and still we don't see more players. You have to be really ignorant to not realise that people dislike/doesn't care about the game.
Please don't reply, I can't stand blind CS:GO-lovers, sorry.

Firstly, I don't even like CS:GO, I think it's possibly worse than source. That doesn't mean I'm going to sit here crying and calling it nasty names. CS 1.6 is dieng, CS:GO is the only realistic option for people that want to carry on in the counter-strike genre competitively. That's as simple as I can put it. If you still don't get it, come back when your a bit older and re-read this conversation.
2012-07-31 21:10:07
I don't understand the logic of supporting a game for it's name only. CS:GO has nothing in common with 1.6 except the name and the format so I don't see any reason at all to support it for the name of Counter-Strike living on if I dislike the game, and neither should any selfthinking humanbeing.
2012-08-01 06:03:50
It has nothing in common with CS 1.6? Are you stupid? Watch a match, and I bet within 5 rounds it will feel just like watching any other CS genre match.
If you don't enjoy the game, and are too immature to even give the future of Counter-Strike a chance (Have you played any team games on it? Have you got more than 10 hours of game time?), then fair enough. But don't sit here crying and hoping for it to fail.
If CS:GO fails, Counter-Strike as a whole will die.
/done

24 hours of CS:GO, have played 5 gathers and three games with teammates.
Please tell me what it has incommon with 1.6 except for the format and the name.
yes, if CS:GO fails, CS as a whole will die. But since CS:GO isn't even similar to 1.6 it doesn't matter to me at all, I'd rather see CS die as a whole then CS:GO succeeding as one casual esport (LoL) on the big tournaments is enough.

2012-07-30 23:34:46
Lurppis and CSP dev team should organize a showmatch to launch csp 1.09 with some pro players. i think it would be good for the game :D

Trust me, i know its taking a while, but progress is being made.
2012-07-30 23:58:09
Do you have a date for 1.09? Please! Are you already decide it? Could be this week, maybe. I know that you're from CSP dev team. You can't hide! Joke.

The game use Source Engine. Source graphics aren't ugly at all. I like it. The matter is gameplay and it's very good for sure.
2012-07-31 00:08:23
i don't care about graphic, i care about gameplay,recoil,etc
2012-07-31 00:26:01
gameplay is exactly the same as 1.6
2012-07-31 00:26:51
i am not saying soure graphics are ugly , what i mean is that the game needs his own mark... another LOOK
2012-07-31 01:16:40
i think they are working on new models and animation, but for 1.10 version
2012-07-31 01:19:29
They work on custom textures. As far as I know blackaddR already revamped dust2 (no pictures released yet).
csp_aztec is full of custom made textures. In my opinion it looks great (waaaaay better than CSS aztec).

2012-07-31 01:37:28
Just to clarify, work on Dust2 has halted for the time being, while i work on the new player models :)
2012-07-31 01:52:21
I still remember lurppis saying in an interview that "CS:GO is garbage and it will remain garbage" , so hltv users stop saying they go after the money , I personally like lurppis as a player/person for beeing honest and saying the truth about that shitty game.
About CSP , it's getting better and better , can't wait to see the 1.09 ...VALVE FAILED with the developing of CS:GO and they will get owned by a team of CS1.6 lovers which will keep this game live again...
if CS 1.6 IS EVER GOING TO DIE , WE SHOULD ALL SWITCH TO CS:PROMOD.

and you will pay them(pro players)? its easy to say "we should all switch to CSP or they will get owned by a team of cs 1.6 lovers" but you need money for that.you need tournaments with prize money and you need organization which will support this game again...and im sure that this will not gonna happen.
people here should be more realistic

nobody will play cs:go cause it's a shit , even if they are fanboys they won't follow getright & co to a forced game to be forced to like it , they will all stick with 1.6 or eventually start mixing in csp and from there we have the start

pros already play it.and who will stick with 1.6? fans? yea they will play gathers and stuff like that but competetive scene will be dead anyway.and start from mixing in csp? which start? you can mix in csp how much do you want but it will not have any influence on csp "competetive" scene

=CSP=
-Pros:
1.gameplay
2.easier to get 100fps at home & at tournaments
3.free
4.reasonable devs which sacrifice their time to get you a worthy cs franchise successor
5.easier to get 100fps
-Cons:
1.slow updates
2.no company backing up the game
3.outdated graphics
=CS-GO=
-Pros
1.more tournaments because valve backs up the game
2.faster updates ,but i don't think that the update speed matters if the game sucks...
3.matchmaking system
4.better graphics than csp but not the best you can get atm
-Cons:
1.gameplay sucks
2.consoles?!
3.15e
4.requirements

Actually
CSP is just as capable of the graphics as CSGO
http://cspromod.com/community/threads/5031-CSP-and..
and CSP are looking into implementing matchmaking as well. :)
As for the question of time. As the good ol' sayings go.
Patience is a virtue. :)

Good things come to those that wait :)

i do prefer csp im also following the csp site like daily these days :) i know that csp can be ported on the latest engine but still that would be time consuming considering the circumstances. It's sad that no sponsors picked up csp to finance it :S i started playing cs from 1.3 and onwards so believe me i did wait and then i got source... and now i am supposed to wait for cs:go...hell no! relase 1.09 or i'll break something 0_- :)
2012-07-31 01:35:05
if CSP still free.. how will they avoid cheaters? (sry if its a stupid question :$)
2012-07-31 01:05:54
Not even CSS or Cs1.6 or CS:GO avoid them... it's imposible.
2012-07-31 01:08:39
Avoiding cheaters is possible by many means ,
Anticheat Client programs that users must log into to join servers. such as those used by esl esea etc .
Or just good old admins.
I run an australian gaming community with 1.6 servers and we have admins on 24 / 7 that will sit an spectate players and ban them on the spot.
Because a game is free doesn't make it any more or less suspectable to hackers because there will always be non steam 1.6 and non steam CSS and you can guarantee there will be a non steam CSGO, and most the people who use hacks are non steam.
Look at TF2 its free to play yet , getting rid of cheaters is as simple as i said , having a good community and admins.
Having a great hacker hating admin team is the best and most solid proof anti cheat system you can have.

source engine , u can only cheat with paid cheats... with free cheats u will be banned in a shadow speed
2012-07-31 01:19:25
Use higher resolution. It's not the GoldSrc anymore. Low resolutions don't bring any advantage in the source engine (unless you can't get 100 fps).

my motives of seeing a better game flourish are so transparent it's pathetic!
nothing like, and bear with me as i'm using mr. gonzo's own words, "sucking that corporate dick" for profits, which is what he, personally, is trying to do so someone would still pay him a few hundred quid of salary for his non-existent knowledge combined with will to write things people aren't interested in reading, just so he can split an apartment with another cadred writer.

is .09 out? i have been playing a bit of .08 and my main concern is the sound isnt as great as 1.6. but on the flip side i would say the movement in CSP is slightly better
2012-07-31 06:54:14
In 1.09 version will be similar sound system as in 1.6.
2012-07-31 07:19:26
Played CSP long time ago, maybe it was 1.07 or something, and it was good already then, gonna try 1.09 for sure
