Sames goes for lets call it "advanced marketing" which is e-sports nowadays, games and companies get a lot of attention and money through it which makes it a lot more worthy to invest in than it was 10 years ago. For that reason the idea Valve will ignore DotA2 once after it is released seems just ridiculous, especially with the knowledge that this game was designed for the e-sports market. We can presume that there will be heavy battles between Riot and Valve for the number one spot because it's hard to imagine tournaments will support two DotA/MOBA games all the time, who wins decides the consumer in the end.

Just like source prefer it to 1.6, and 1.6 fans say its the best game ever and source freaking sucks, you cant compare lol to dota. They both have a separated community who will always defend their game. Personally, Riot dedication for the game and for the community impresses me alot and makes me support their game blindly but i can perfectly see dota players arguments. I think LoL it has hugeeee community and big big support from Riot (They care lot of their game and one of most caring companies about their community)
Just to make it clear I don't say LoL > DoTa it's not alway about being best and most complex game. I think about how is game playable on competitive level and how big show it can do. LoL isn't complex as DoTA but on competive level there are great show about team communication and your mechanic skills. Definitly DoTA is "better" game in some points but LoL have what it realy takes to be competitive and popular game. Sometimes less is more, Sometimes simplier is better ;)

The reason why LoL wasn't picked at ESWC is that Riot technical support couldn't be in France for the tournament because they already were at MLG in USA, it's a calendar issue, not because eswc managers prefered Dota.

Even if it does release, LoL already has a gigantic player base of millions of players that is almost impossible to overcome. I don't see Dota 2 winning over LoL it's just not realistic. Might be a better competitive game due to the skill cap being higher, but it has most definitely lost against LoL in terms of popularity and will most likely never gain what LoL has now. Just face the facts and hope Dota 2 can still do something.. :)

People tend to forget that this same discussion was going on about HoN vs LoL, a lot of people saying HoN would win because it was a better came with a higher skill cap and it looked more like Dota etc.

Kinda fun to read all these posts..
Some of them are right,some of them are not..
Its true,that LoL is the easier game,in this point..I mean, you dont even require skills,to win a game in LoL..
I just want to say,that all of you,who ventured into dota2,and got matched in team with russians,in the first 2-3 games,and then stopped playing the game just because of them..I mean,russians are like that by nature..They're unmannered,use to their language ONLY. Not saying,that they dont know to talk english,but they prefer talking russian. You cant simply prevent russians signing on europe servers and playing on any server. Valve invested and prevented large numbers of the russsians,from playing on other servers,by making the russian server. But there will always be russians on every server,cause they're like that,just wanting to screw some things up =)
Anyway,i think D2 will win the competitive battle,LoL will stay as casual game,for the non competitive players,that wanna have fun.
P.S Advice for the newcomers
Instead of playing matchmaking,just try to play vs BOTS,you gain exp and items, playing vs Bots. Its better to play vs bots,instead of ruin someones games. After you think,that you've learned a little,the animations,the visual effects etc,you can go play matchmaking.
Hope i made it clear for some people, that had some unanswered questions. =)
