i think you have to type "Stop" to stop the demo. Type"stop" in console. I am not sure though.

when u quit the game or disconnect from server the demo was automatically stopped, this isnt the problem

Is the demo the server automatically records stored locally or on the server?

Well, as it is not according to you I would contact a server admin to take a a peek.

Remember, if you use the 'Reply' button the user, in this case me, will/would know you replied to him/her ;)

Edit: Just remembered something, do you have your game in German? If so, maybe the server instead of saving it to cstrike_german saved it to cstrike. Also, you did a search for .dem files already, didn't you?

i already did a search for .dem files, but it only found the demos i downloaded here on hltv.org. but when i can watch them on cs, they need to be somewhere? thats annoying.

Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Click on the Start button. This is the small round button with the Windows flag in the lower left corner.
Click on the Control Panel menu option.
When the control panel opens click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
Under the Folder Options category, click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
Press the Apply button and then the OK button..
Now Windows 7 is configured to show all hidden files

open your counter strike folder
press F3
type in ".dem"
hit enter
wait.

2012-08-09 13:39:46

2012-08-09 13:42:01

2012-08-09 13:44:56

2012-08-09 13:50:01
i said normaly if you didn't type "stop" to stop the record, and you close CS; there's no prob you can find it in cstrike_german folder !!

Let me get this straight, you can watch your demo by viewdemo/playdemo "demoname" from console, but you can't find the actual demo file in your cstrike folder?
2012-08-09 14:02:10
exactly.
2012-08-09 14:04:15
And what is your demo called then?
2012-08-09 14:04:52
does taht matter?
2012-08-09 14:05:52
Not really, but that demo HAS to be in your cstrike or cstrike_german folder. If it wasn't you simply couldn't watch it simply by writing "viewdemo 'demoname'".

it seems like i can..
2012-08-09 14:10:07
if you are using windows 7 try going to this folder and check once

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Steam\...
2012-08-09 14:11:11
Guess this should do the trick. If you're using Windows 7, click on the start button and enter '%APPDATA%', then navigate to the location that niks mentioned.
2012-08-09 15:08:44
search your entire Drive(where CS is installed) for the demo. This shouldn't take long.

Hi , Download Vdub its a Software that turns cs 1.6 demo into a movie download it and RUN .. Then locate your cstrike folder and copy paste your file to desktoP .. DONE n'joy :)
2013-01-02 17:00:32
shut the fuck up seriously :D

99.9% sure that if viewdemo 'demoname' works, then it is in your cstrike, and you are either not looking hard enough, or you are in the wrong account's cstrike.

If you put a different demo in your cstrike folder, then do viewdemo 'that_demo' does that work? If not perhaps there is a config value for your default recording/viewing folder, and maybe the auto recording stuff has changed it.

its actcully a known bug in the old nonsteam protocol 47 it does record and stop and u just can't simply find it while u can run it in game
2013-01-02 18:27:19
check out this:

C:\Users\*YOURUSER*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Counter-Strike 1.6\cstrike

don't forget to change *YOURUSER* with your USER ;)

or simply go to your USER folder, hit F3 and search for your demo file
