My thoughts on CS:GO
I haven't had the chance to play CS:GO yet but judging on what I've seen on the stream it isn't half bad. Surely, it isn't as good as CS 1.6 and I doubt there will be any new FPS that will be anywhere near as good as CS 1.6.

Reality is however, just like in real life, people still judge a book by it's cover. CS 1.6 graphics aren't going to impress any new gamers and therefor CS 1.6 is getting less interesting for potential sponsors. It is inevitable that CS 1.6 will die a slow but painless death. There will still be tournaments but CS 1.6 is no longer going to bring in any big bucks so it will get less competitive and therefor less interesting.

My advice is, move on to CS:GO. It's not as good as CS 1.6 once was and I doubt if ever will be but from here it will only get better. The valve developers are showing willingness to cooperate with competitive gamers to makes this game more suitable for e-sports. Besides, CS:GO is the closest thing to CS1.6. Of course we have CSP but I don't think any major tournament will adapt to a game based on an engine that is almost 8 years old. It's a pity but CSP is going to die along with CS 1.6. From here on, CS 1.6 is just going to get worse (fewer tournaments, fewer players) and CS:GO will only get better.

I'm not here to tell you what you should do but hopefully this will open your eyes. I was a die hard CS 1. 6 player once before I retired. I never supported CS:Source but I think the time has come to move on.

CS:GO will never made same fame as cs 1.6 did. True story
2012-08-15 19:10:44
you're like a parrot, that's exactly what I said but one thing that made CS 1.6 so great is the fact that it was so competitive. CS 1.6 is quickly getting less competitive whereas CS:GO will only get more and more competitive. CS:GO is quite different from CS 1.6 but it's the closest we've got to CS 1.6 that has potential to feature many new gamers and tournaments.

"CS:GO is quite different from CS 1.6 but it's the closest we've got to CS 1.6"

You mean COD, not CS.
2012-08-15 19:37:50
I don't think you understand what I mean. Name one competitive gaming title that is more similar to CS 1.6 than CS:GO.
2012-08-15 20:12:24
Why COD? Nobody knows what gonna be CSGO in terms of strategy, teamplay... stop being focused on the graphics!
12 years later, the technology went on, don't forget that the sponsors like INTEL and ASUS will no longer continue to sponsor games like 1.6 because our industry is based on money and the companies won't earn money if people continue to play games who turn pretty well with hardware that we no longer sells.
2012-08-15 20:25:58
Everything you say it's right, I can contradict you.
This anyway, doesn't change the fact that CS:GO it's a shitty game and I won't play it just because it's played it on competitive scene. I don't like it, played more than 20H and don't like it.

As CS I will still play 1.6, I will still go at some Local LAN tournament and play there.

CS:GO for me looks like a copy of COD and CS:S (with respect for the CS:S players).

+1

Valve just wanna compete with others FPS games, not dedicated for e-sports

I haven't had the chance to play CS:GO yet

heuhhueue, but he does like it from what he has seen and he raised a valid point in the future of gaming so, it's all good
2012-08-15 19:36:05
The game is shit. End of story. However, if people wanna play it and tournaments want to include it i'm happy.
I know one thing: I've played it and it will need to change a lot for me to touch it again.

Theres nothing magical about CS:GO like in 1.6
2012-08-15 19:28:45
yes . ... there no emotion that 1.6 = have
2012-08-16 13:40:31
CS:GO sucks balls
end of story

<Insert obligatory CS 1.6 NEVER DIES comment>
<Insert obligatory CS:GO SUCKS, CS 1.6 FOREVER comment>

guys, try to explain yourself.
2012-08-15 20:15:36
No point to argue with idiots dude. They can't understand one thing that CS:GO is in beta while cs 1.6 is 9 years old of development.
2012-08-15 20:18:58
true. they are retards, always saying the same words on all topics and never explaining why.
2012-08-15 20:28:08
yet a company with years and years of gaming experience, with the hard copy and rights of that "old" game still can't reproduce a decent enough game. but a small group of kids who work and develop a game called cspromod for a dying community on their free time is able to get it close enough. yeah the game sucks because it's only in beta....
2012-08-15 23:39:46
CSPromod is particularly nice for former CS 1.6 players, sadly, these games don't appeal as much to the mainstream. I'm sure valve could make it but it wouldn't sell. People don't want to spend much money on a mod that is based on an 8 years old game. Valve is still a commercial company, they must make profit like any other company. It's not rocket science.
2012-08-16 07:19:11
I see, you are sourcer
2012-08-16 10:24:36
bahahha looks how long it took to make cs pro mod lol, which is not a complete game just a MOD and still in BETA which means u dont need extra development while CS:GO is brand newly made game. Your statement is invalid.
2012-08-16 09:40:47
+1 , kids grow up hard
2012-08-16 00:26:15
Nedaryk gėdos, Thank you Lithuanian boy. I think you hadn't chance to play this game.

I thought same before I tried to play it, I thought yes it's not 1.6 but I believe it's playable game, I could play it, but after a few hours I didn't want to play it, it's not so funny and yes... Graphics... It's suffer because in the maps there are too much details and you can't play it too long.

eik tu geda, nejuokink. Yes i haven't played cs go yet, but it is obvious that is it the future of cs 1.6. CS Promod will not be able to keep up with competition. And it is BETA state.
2012-08-16 09:42:35
"Yes i haven't played cs go yet".
Ohhhh one more fanboy detected. Good look in your career.
2012-08-16 10:09:49
Uhm what? Are you retarded or smth? What it has do to with fanboysim?
2012-08-16 14:20:02
agreed, game isn't optimized , but yet it's getting better and better
2012-08-16 13:36:33
it's not meant to be played like cs 1.6 or close to 1.6, even stated by valve themselves so stfu.
2012-08-16 08:10:47
it has counter strike on it's name though.
MW and MW2 is nearly the same .
CS:GO and CS 1.6 is very different in terms of gameplay feeling.
heck, even the gameplay might be different in the competitive play, I heard it is even worse than CS:S .
if they're going to make a different game at least use something else other than counter strike.
CS 1.6 scene is dying and they shouldn't make a game that accelerate the process.
One more thing, I think I read somewhere that CS:GO developer is trying to make a game that is acceptable to CSS and CS 1.6 community.
they shouldn't have favored CSS player.
whats so fun in CS is that you can see the recoil pattern. CSS failed once because the movement is different and you can't see the pattern.
they did it again in CS:GO, it seems to me that game developer is desperately trying to replace a game with different game.
its like replacing tetris with puyo-puyo and name it tetris:bubble falling because it looks similar.
pure non-sense, they should've made a game with different name.

yeah +1

CS:GO = 95% CSS + 5% CS 1.6
and see what Valve had promised ==> Our CS:GO developers is trying to make a game that is acceptable to CSS and CS 1.6 community.
1.6 pros switch to CS:GO because money and prize not because CS:GO is a great game
2012-08-16 08:50:07
they still never promised to make it a new version of the '1.6 series'
2012-08-16 09:20:17
[Of course we have CSP but I don't think any major tournament will adapt to a game based on an engine that is almost 8 years old.]

CSP actually has more potential than CS:GO but since CS:GO has the backup from VALVE so you guys just give up an decent game
2012-08-16 08:47:56
potential? in what way? you really think tournaments are massively going to choose for CSP now over the latest generation of FPS titles? do you think sponsors are massively going support CSP? of course not. no matter how good CSP is, there are no incentives for tournament organizers, sponsors and teams to support CSP.
2012-08-16 10:04:42

No, none of the above are my thinking

I'm talking about the game itself, I mean CSP "must be" "looks like"
The game quality, no matter when and how.
2012-08-16 10:12:33
I think the only was CSP can over-throw GO is if it follows the way CS 1.X grew

* CS Beta comes out
* People just enjoy the game (mind that there are no tournaments yet)
* People say it's an awesome game, albeit, it has some glitches
* People spread the news, more players come. Forms teams
* Rich people/Sponsors hears about this popular sport and starts tourneys
* Money = more professional players = even bigger community

If the game can have a large community, then and only then will the sponsors be interested.

@To_all
So download the game, try it out, let the community know how you like the game
2012-08-16 11:55:33
This is how the game looks for me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4MrTEe1EVY
do I need to say anyting more?
2012-08-16 09:40:11
Sorry but for me it's not like this.
I've got my game/steam in english and it works fine.
2012-08-16 12:23:12
yeah seems like it's a bug. This affected only two percent of the German players. Valve said, they will fix it soon.
2012-08-16 13:22:17
shit game. shit burst. shit spray. no silencer. shit. full of shit.
2012-08-16 09:43:32
I dont give a fuck how many tournaments have 1.6, GO, or CSS as main title, I dont give a fuck the prizes or the sponsors and I dont give a fuck what game are playing the "pro players", I will play the game I like, which is cs 1.6. ...If you play CSGO because you like it, fine, but if you play it only because some guys that you dont even know play it for money, you are a huge retard and an asshole, so you must kill yourself. This is a fact.
2012-08-16 13:42:25
cs:go is fun to play but i don't think i will ever watch cs:go matches, the gameplay isn't clear, also on deathmatch I haven't even seen player with K/D ratio 2.0 yet, while in 1.6 as a random player I can get 2.5 K/D so it tells you that it is much easier to kill top player in GO than 1.6, people say that graphics in 1.6 is old but the way I see it is that graphics is clear, in GO fx. on long range I just don't notice the enemy sometimes, I think GO can be nice for casual players but for competitive games and for spectacors 1.6 is the best game of all time; also I dont like the recoil, I find it extremely hard to spray anyone on medium range with ak47 and hard with m4, imo it should be easier
2012-08-16 14:05:52
they should make csgo a bit more arcade and it would be good. improve recoil, increase walking speed and model visibility
