Gathersystem
Heya fellow HLTV.org community members,

I am currently building an IRC gatherbot (and server/rcon component - maybe ill even go web too, later) for all versions of CS (1.6/CSS/GO) including personal statistics (extra points for aces 1onX, doublekills and so on) and am wondering what to do with it. Couple of options come to mind:

- Run some channels myself and get some well-known people to operate channels for their countries
- Sell/rent-out the script to whoever wants to use it under their own name/brand for some monthly fee.
- Opensource it - but as there will not be many downloads I guess this wont help my name (or finances..) very much - writing in my CV that I wrote some software that was downloaded by 50 users and used without credit is not so awesome for the effort I put in.

What would you do? And oh, if your interested somehow, gimme a buzz on IRC.

something I really wondered about, how can a gather bot actually know your in-game statistics? is it related to EAC or some website?

Same way HLTV.org knows stats - serverlogs streamed to a program that you can write to save and parse them ;)

You should definitely ask guys from hltvglobalmix to help you.. they had so great bot but their channel died after like 3-4 months..

Yeah, I think in CS:GO it would be much more successful.

Shouldn't be hard to adapt to it, will see when I get to the ingame component sometime next week.

cool! we ran a gatherchan in sweden, #cspro. had pretty many users but the owner of the bot ran away with it to CS:GO so we're looking for a new one til' the release of 1.09.

So, your basicly doing the thing Im doing, and been done for three months now?
Good luck, there's a lot of money in it once the bot is awesome! :)

If you have the time, run it yourself. And definitely do a web version, as more and more new players aren't learning the traditional IRC methods of gather/war getting :(
