This guy played amazing in Real Madrid till now. I never seen or even heard about this guy until Croatia played against Spain in group stage euro where he played extraordinary. I think that RM is now more tehnical based team what hasn't been with Ozil. When Ozil plays, game is faster and Real uses speed of individual players what I never liked. Also, Luca plays amazing against Xavi and Iniesta what we could notice in his last games against Spain/Barcelona. What do you think is Real Madrid stronger with Luca Modricj or with Ozil?
yeah i dont like ozil. i think he is afraid to touch the ball with his right leg .. i hate when its normal to stop it with right but he tries with left and looses the ball. and yes Luca will stop in the center, he will look for pass forward but backward too and ozil will look only forward

Luka Modric*. Of course it is stronger with Modric :]. His vision is better than Xavi's.
2012-09-05 13:19:21
LOL no way.
Im 100% real madrid fan, but no one can take XAVI's vision, same with inesta. Modric is just overrated, like neymar

2012-09-05 13:28:25
wow, real is so rich that they can even drop a player like ozil to bench. Probably they will loose ronaldo. Actually I think it is mourinho who's creating bad karma in the team. This Real team is good now, and they can compete now with all teams, but the mood inside this team is not good
2012-09-05 13:30:57
For sure isn't Mourinho's fault. Probably the players' egos. Mourinho was the coach that stoped Barça's rampage and his a great coach, wins shitload of titles where he passes.
2012-09-05 13:32:37
+1
2012-09-05 13:44:14
how do you know that "the mood inside the team is not good"? you're pathetic...
2012-09-05 13:38:45
Actually mood in this team is even better. All players confirmed this.
2012-09-05 13:41:24
he is not overrated. he has potential but he must believe himself and in club like Real Madrid he will
2012-09-05 13:31:09
modric overrated? please man.. he has amazing ball control and playmaking,he was best playmaker in EPL
2012-09-05 13:33:48
in EPL? not even close.
2012-09-05 13:57:30
by far the best :D
2012-09-05 14:04:32
La Liga, and EPL is not the same.
La Liga is much harder than EPL
La Liga is much harder than EPL
2012-09-05 15:04:29
la liga is bullshit compared 2 epl. epl is the hardest league in the world by far . period
2012-09-05 15:29:15
At this moment La Liga is the strongest league in the world.
2012-09-05 19:55:01
You think this only because RM and FCB play in LaLiga. Overall EPL is harder than La Liga.
2012-09-09 14:24:50
Modric surely isn't overrated. I think quite opposite. He is SO SO SO underrated. What do you is the main reason why Croatia can play so good against top coutries such as Spain/Germany/Italy/Brasil/England... His amazing vision. On the other hand you have Xavi who plays for Barcelona and Spain, both teams which prefer tik tak tik tak game in which passes are the only thing you do. Modric is player which can't give so much passes, but his passes are much more entertaining and harder. Maybe you haven't followed him much so you say that, but he surely is world class player.
2012-09-05 13:35:08
That is why Mourinho waited him so much, that's why Mourinho payed so much for him, that's why Mourinho gave him chance against Barcelona in his 1st match, that's why other players from Real Madrid such as Ronaldo, Casillas and Sergio Ramos said only great things about him?
2012-09-05 13:39:16
overated? you dont know what football is
2012-09-05 15:40:31
You must be confused, he's underrated not overrated lol
2012-09-05 21:47:09
This said all about your football knowledge which is equal to 0.
2012-09-09 14:25:50
what have modric perform to all him as good as xavi?
2012-09-09 16:01:24
I'd apreciate if you use proper english.
2012-09-09 16:05:11
*fanboy detected*
2012-09-05 13:37:22
Just a guy who saw him playing way more times then you did.
2012-09-05 13:40:33
hahahahaha still fanboy
2012-09-09 18:04:06
I hate how every Bosnian or Serbian, here, on facebook, on twitter or any other site, hate success of Croatian players. I like more when Djokovic wins sth. than Cilic, I like when Dzeko scores for City, I love when Serbia is winning in basketball, or when any ex-yu country succeed in sth.. Maybe you haven't said anything about Modric, but now I'm talking in general. Instead of support from our neighbours we take the worst comments from them, and I think it's ridiculous.
2012-09-09 18:19:13
hahahahahah i fucking hate Croatian fanboys. Why cant you once at least once look at things realysticlly and not always in the cheering way :O
2012-09-05 23:10:28
Well, because I really think he has better vision :]. You can say or think whatever you want and I won't blame you. Probably my opinion is subjective, but if I try being objective I also have several reasons why I think this. Comparing Modric's influence on Croatian team or Tottenham and Xavi's on Barcelona or Spain and their playing styles. E.G. teams in which Modric plays need firstly him to create attacks, while Xavi mostly plays tik taka tik taka with his team. It looks like Modric's role won't change in RM a bit, since Mou admires him already.
2012-09-08 21:31:20
I have nothing against you, croats,Modric but to say that modric has anything better than Xavi thats just ridicoulous :)
2012-09-09 00:41:52
Well, now I see it's only about guy who underrates Modric, just like many others.
2012-09-09 08:14:55
i dont underrate him,hi is not better than xavi or any other midfielder in Real Madrid ir Barca !
2012-09-09 13:25:50
He is not better than Xavi, but he is at the same level. Modric is a true playmaker. His passing skills and anticipation/vision are extremely good, but by the looks of thinks you are just a 'football fan that watches TOPTeam vs. TOPTeam matches' so no wonder you know nothing about how good Modric is.
2012-09-09 14:30:41
omg what a fuckface.. omg please stfu and one more thing you a simple fan of some team, cant know more than me,who trains it follows and and watches more sport then you x3 !
2012-09-09 16:00:40
I didn't say he is better, I said he has better vision.
2012-09-09 15:40:41
Xavi is the engine in spanish team. The European Cup of this past summer says it all. Xavi was doing an awful tournament, Spain were playing in a lower level than they used to.
Xavi appeared in the final match. Not so much to say about that match, the final score talks by itself.
I don't think Modric has more vision than Xavi. Influence? Well, thats really hard to say, we would need to see Xavi playing for Croatia and Tottenham while Modric for FCB and Spain and depending on the result, we would have a proper judgment. There are many factors.

They played really good, but their style is read by many team and "engine" in their team was Iniesta.
2012-09-09 08:16:31
I really like Ozil, I wouldn't mind seeing both on the field, since Xabi Alonso is old and doesn't have the same game resistance and Khedira simply sucks.
2012-09-05 13:30:58
Alonso is playing more like defensive midfielder in Real Madrid and doing really good job!
2012-09-05 13:36:01
I know he's a good player, but his legs are feeling his age...
2012-09-05 13:37:23
Modric can play all positions in midfield, but Mourinho put him on his favorite. Probably some thing will be changed after Alonso leaves RM.
2012-09-05 13:36:22
We'll see. Having a player like Ozil in the bench is like lol I don't even know, I would like to see both of them on the field, maybe Mourinho will try it in some minor importance games.
2012-09-05 13:38:39
Well, I was hoping Mourinho will put Modric instead of Khedira because ozil is way better than him.
2012-09-05 13:47:27
Better than who? Khedira? If so agree.
I had the same thought.

Real need Khedira for a defensive balance, if modric replaces khedira, real madrid will have 3 playmaker at the midfield, they need some big guys to prevent counter attacks, khedira is one of them. Ofc modric is better than khedira in what he does, but the team needs at least one midfielder who can help in the defence.
2012-09-09 14:48:01
I know Khedira is one of them, but still he sucks as def. mdf., there are so much better defmdf. than him.
For example Javí Garcia that was in Benfica, is a product of Real's cantera and just transfered to MCity, he would be a great option with his phisic. And a cheap one, comparing with other world elite defmdf.

He doesn't suck that much, ofc there many better players, but there is no need to replace him atm I think.
"And a cheap one" probably not actually, 20M for his transfer to city, so atm he worth much more because of his contract, unless city will abandon him.

2012-09-13 00:05:14
yea, but I meant before he went to ManC.
2012-09-13 23:02:31
Unfortunately Mourinho is a defensive-based coach, so he will never play without a stopper in the midfield (Khedira/Essien).
I hate Khedira, btw. Watching him playing is watch someone runs after the enemy player looking at the ball, but without trying to stole it from him. Just looking at them.

2012-09-05 23:29:04
Wow, so much bullshit.
2012-09-05 13:52:11
Alonso offers some defensive skills within a good game vision (with long passes) and a lot of stability in the midfield. Cannot be replaced by anyone in the team as no one is as complete as him, even with his age.
2012-09-05 14:01:25
xabi alonso links the team together like makelele did in the Galácticos era
2012-09-05 14:10:51
ups should have been to #7
2012-09-05 14:11:12
Khedira is the best of the world in his position
2012-09-05 19:43:23
ahahah
2012-09-05 20:08:22
They will probably both be on the pitch at the same time. I think RM's standard line-up will look like: Casillas with Ramos, Pepe, Carvalho and Marcelo/Arbeloa the defensive line, Alonso & Essien def. mdf. with CR on the left wing, Modric in centre and Oozil right wing and with Benzema or Higuain (probably a rotation) forward. And probably the mos used subs will be Di Maria, Benzema/Higuain (depending of who plays) and Khedira (if Kaka will be loaned/transfered).
2012-09-09 14:38:26
LOL
2012-09-12 22:32:49
Liked his matches with RM, but I'm afraid about him taking RM playstyle instead of RM playing at Modric's pace.
2012-09-05 13:56:39
he'll takes ozil's place
2012-09-05 15:39:45
modric was a awesome player in tottenham, dont know why he stayed there all this years (probably by his choice), anyway besides the fact that he is an awesome player i would still pick ozil everyday, i mean, werder bremen were ozil back in the days, that sums it up, while tottenham still has lots of good players with the departure of modric.
2012-09-05 22:15:55
I won't choose Ozil everyday, as he is one of the most inconsistent players that have played in RM that I remember.
He is a genius one match of eight, the other seven matches you don't even know if he is playing the match or he is in the bench.
I think Mourinho wanted so badly Modric because of Ozil, nowadays Kaka is a liability and Ozil had no opposition. Modric will make Ozil to work harder to be present on the starting lineup.

I guess you never watched him in Premier League. He was Tottenham's best player.
2012-09-09 14:17:03
Pff, da fuq is Modric. Michael Essien will force him to do the job on the bench.
There is no way that Luka will take the starting place of Ozil, Alonso or Khedira, they're all too important for Mourinho's Real Madrid. He will simply be a rotate player, an "impact sub". Essien will be a great substitute for Xabi though, he's feeling his age lately and Essien is a Mourinho man, he'll trust him more but Bison needs to improve 'cause he didn't played that much cuz of injuries.

Modric will be on the bench? LOL
2012-09-09 16:48:43
Yeah, I think so mostly on the bench. That's why I said he will be probably used as an "impact sub" or rotate player for Liga matches or so under Mourinho, because there are far more important players than him in starting XI of RM.
As it stands now, there is no way that he'll take the place of Khedira, Alonso or Ozil for the big games.

I don't think so. Mourinho wouldn't pay so much for a guy who will be on the bench. Mourinho wouldn't give so much attention to guy who will be on the bench (his words about him, his gestures, he even came to Croatia to tell Stimac to take care of Modric because he will soon be their main player). Furthermore, when he got a question "Who will be key player in Champions League?" he answered Cristiano Ronaldo or Luka Modric". Modric is their orchestra dude. Don't underrate him, he is definitely the best Croatian player ATM.

Coentrao (€35M transfer) says hello to you from his warm sit in Bernabeu's bench xD.
2012-09-10 00:59:29
Modric is more expensive, but better player anyway.
2012-09-10 01:12:51
Well, Coentrao is maybe the worse addition after Kaka's Real Madrid has done in the last years. Was a personal request from Mourinho.
Of course Modric is better. But won't be easy for him to be on the starting 11 every match.

Well Real Madrid is club in which all players get their chances and those players always have to prove themselves if they want to be in first 11, or even play more often, so there will always be "competition" between those players. Just take Kaka as an example, player of the year came from such club as Milan and spent most of the time on the bench. It doesn't matter how he played, they have to train hard if they want to earn a place in a team. Every day is new challenge for those guys :].
2012-09-10 13:40:54

EPL Cant be the strong league cause teams from la liga ranked 8 and 14
win top teams in EPL like bilabo winning MAN UNIted 4-2
and ataletico madrid winning chlesea 4-0
EPL is the weakeast leageu to be honest it just media brain washing people we got many strong team but in real life it is very slow league and play.
if you get dourtmond and napoli wil give hard times to top teams in EPL

you may have the best teams, but the EPL is still by far the toughest. we dont have a pussy break, i mean Winter Break, we have many more matches in a short space of time, and ALL teams in the premier league can beat other, whilst Barcelona and Real Madrid can use there B team and rape other lowbob teams in La Liga.
Also that was only last year... what about the other years, have you already forgotten the time where EPL had 3 teams in SEMI FINALS of Champions League?? This was pretty recent.

exactly, spain has 2 amazing team that skyrocket above all other teams. the spanish league also has 2 good strikers, c ronaldo and messi. valencia is mediocre and all the others are pretty random. in the epl, all teams are tough. man u, chelsea, liverpool, man city, tottenham, arsenal. says enough
2012-09-13 23:11:17
Well if Ozil plays like he does for Germany, then Luka Modric can find another position to steal
2012-09-13 02:15:52
Modric was bought to warm up the bench, mock my words but that is the truth :)
