actually the prediction is negligible to zero percent. 2 years ago in my engineering class, my professor just showed us a calculation of the chances of there being life, with correct variables, etc. You should just be grateful to be alive, is what I'm getting to. The universe is a pretty vast and finding "someone" in it is not that simple as you put it.

People are sending signals to the space, but these signals will arrive to another solar system after hundred of years, not after the commercial break on Fox. And we don't even know whether these signals will come across any sort of intelligent life form. Even if there would be some and they would decipher these signals and reply, it will take another hundred of years till we receive them. So, looking for a sing of intelligent, macroscopic life form is not a job for the impatient :)

This may sound idiotic but I believe they have. Not only 1 type of "alien" but many from other dimensions and so on. This dates back 100 of years until today. I think our technology has been inspired by "aliens" or "UFOs". From no mobile phones or internet in the 1900 to flying to the moon in less than 100 years seems kinda odd. Why would no Government say anything to the public is probably because of the fear it will bring to humanity. If we were to know "aliens" were on planet Earth that would cause mass panic knowing not even our military could stop them from coming here even though they might be friendly but what happens if a hostile bunch come along.
