Because it's obvious that Messi is the best. 3x golden ball won many CL Liga and other titles , scores more goals than CR , is capable to dribble a whole team and score after etc etc.

Messi seemed to be weak with Argentina since 2006 (for guys who don't watch matches and talk) because Maradona made him play pure Midfieler and he wasn't prepared to do that but he did well even if he wasn't scoring. Now he plays normally he scores everytime with Argentina 10 goals in 6 matches smthing like that + 5 assists.

But CR has more tricks and is more powerful and is really good n°2 after Messi.

however I feel that iniesta and messi are better (which implies top3), and every year I feel there is someone else who is up there with him, in chronological order; xavi, then sneijder, then ibrahimovich/pirlo.

The truth is, people mostly will base their opinion about this topic on their feelings... If you're Portuguese, it's CR7, if you're Argentinian it's Messi, if you're from Real Madrid it's CR7, if you're from Barcelona it's Messi... But my respect goes to Ronaldo, not only because I'm Portuguese, but he worked his way to the top... Messi learned football on Barcelona's schools, Ronaldo came from Andorinha and worked his way up to Real Madrid, that has to mean something... I mean, he was on Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, he proved himself on different leagues, against different opponents, while Messi is all about Barcelona, not that I'm taking any credit from him, he's obviously at CR7's level. But CR7 showed much more on his football career...
