In japanese : muchi muchi ? = Hello ? :DD
2012-09-10 11:04:54
they say "moshi moshi"

:)
2012-09-10 11:10:06
U or O in japenese sounds same for them, since they don't use latine alphabets : ) it's a matter of accent
But when it's written it's like : muchi not mochi as i know
2012-09-10 11:12:54
you have no idea what you're talking about ...

U and O are not the same in Japanese . and the word moshi has a SHI in it not a CHI...
2012-09-10 11:42:19
Pfff ... Ch or Sh - Mo or Mu has the same sound (japan - korea - china), and in japanese alphabet they don't give a shit if it's O or U or Shi/Chi since they don't give a shit to latine alphabets and to correct you it's always CHI no SHI, when it's written to foreign (watachi wa - ichi ...)

here is a list of all the base japanese character with the sounds they make ... have you ever even been to japan or studied the language?

i think you're going to have to admit that you're wrong.

they do have a difference between U and O and Shi and Chi.

What do "oi" and "aew" mean? I though that was most common greeting phrase
2012-09-10 15:31:51
When we see someone on the street we usually use "Oi", which means "Hi". "Aew" is more likely to be used online. To answer a call "Alô" is the most commom.

you answer by only your name or "Hi, this is,name!" here in sweden

when answering your cellphone you normally just say hello :)

and is it true that americans just hang up without saying goodbye or anything, like in the movies? I've always thought it was extremely rude to do this :)but im not judging!
2012-09-10 16:55:28
Nah. Usually we say bye or some other form of phrase such as "have a good day!" Ive been hung up on before without a formal "bye" but not usually. Sometimes if the other person is angry this can happen.

I just say Hello. So simple no need for complications like "Hello you're speaking to ---" which they love doing in Denmark lol
2012-09-12 15:59:16
robotic Denmark eh? "Hello, you're speaking to ---. If you want to talk about my day, press 1. If you want talk about my parents, press 2. If you want to talk about --- press 3."

lol not to that extent but they do love saying "Hello you are speaking to *name*" and then wait for other person to say something. It's pretty formal reminds me a lot of how customer services answer for companies.

If family or good friends call:
"Institute for Beauty and Knowledge - you are talking to the founder"
If I dont know who calls or its not good friends, I just answer it with my last name.

Side note:
I hate it when you call people, especially on Landline to a household with several people living there and they dont say their name when answering the phone
