Hearing and Counter-strike
I don't play cs anymore because I can't and lost interest some years ago; played quite a bit for the last two weeks and I'm off to college campus tomorrow anyway.

I've asked this a long time ago back in the gotfrag days but had no positive or useful info on this: I'm deaf on my left ear from a ver, very young age. My hearing's pretty good though, as strange as this may seem. Playing cs and making anything out of them(direction) is something else. I was never able to pick off sounds accurately, specially footsteps and its directions. It'd make me crazy. I was always at a huge disadvantage on certain situations (most of the time in fact).

Tried the 5H's and siberias but it didnt make a difference. I have the same issue in rael life when people call me from afar.

Just wondering if someone was in a similar situation and managed to find a solution by messing with the sound.

I'm not sure if this helps but you can shift your left ear volume higher in your soundcard settings

You mean so that I could pick off the footsteps from the left ear cuff with the right ear? I don't think I'm able to do that with both my audigy se or the asus onboard soundcard. I can decrease or increase the sound both sides to the same level though; boosting it on the left side, no. It's a really good idea but even if it works I'd have to play with a very high sound volume.
