Hard to rate, because most of best moviemakers don`t work alone, but have theyr team, so it`s not like it`s as easy to tell witch one of them is more praiseworthy.

Therefore I want to note only those whose have created great movies on theyr own.

Resident - he created movie called "Madcat Rise the Machine", but amount of work put in this could hardly be considered as work of one man. It`s 15(!) minutes long and it seems perfect almost in any aspect and it`s very innovative. Just watch it yourself, I don`t want to give spoilers as it`s just one movie.

RavenTL - this is moviemaker I want to praise for his unique style and innovative abilities. The most important aspect I`d like to praise in his movies is that, although his style is to sync frags with soudtrack, however, unlike many, he is aware of basics. Effects are supposed to accent frags, so he doesn`t do the most common mistake between unproffesional moviemakers by cutting out action of frags just to keep them synced with music. As for his innovative abilities I mentioned, each of his movie contains different design style of showcasting frags.

p.s. don`t know about css moviemakers, because source itself just have too good graphics, witch makes css movies not as exciting as effects on movies don`t have same kind of impact as in cs 1.6 movies, where they really shine due to 1.6 having bad graphics.

Finished watching Ruination, lookss like pretty average movie. That aside, it`s not just not good enough but mistakes as well, like loading player name, witch contradicts with purpose of that panel. It`s faster and easier to look at fraglist to find name of player you`re watching.

Keep in mind that this movie is really, really old.
This movie was absolutely mindblowing when it was released.
It was/is one of the absolute favorite movies of most oldschool moviemakers, and a huge percentage of gamers aswell.

as mentioned there are no best :D It is all but personal taste. Here is a simple logic to all of you who don't yet understand. "One may not be liked by everyone - and nor he will be. If he tries to - he will start being hated by the ones who liked him" it's an endless routine. So as mentioned it is personal taste - maybe I like one guy, but you dont. Maybe you like one guy, but I dont. Simple as that. Conclusion there are no best moviemakers/finest ones, only good or bad - renaming it into your conclusion as you mentioned in global terms to best "moviemakers in the world" it tottally changes the whole idea nad hops to another than the one wich was stated at the start. Due to some may not like the title on those moviemakers wich you name "Best moviemakers in the world" they may tell that they are good, but not the best for sure. All the critics claim those your called "best moviemakers in the world" in a few simple words - he/she is good or he/she is bad.

If course, there are best moviemakers. There can be found moviemakers whose are levels above others at different attributes. To begin with, to make a good movie it takes more than just moviemaking skills, but patience and passion in order to finish movie from beginning to end, by polishing every little effect used in movie.

First off, you are very right that loving one self too much isn't a proof of intelligence, neither the opposite. Nor do I love my self too much. In fact that had nothing to do with my self-perspective. Secondly, you tried to read between the lines. I a very humble moviemaker, but I also have a realistic and experienced view on moviemaking/moviemakers in general. I respect the work of all the HLTV.org editors and I think especially Athid does an amazing job. But those are not the kind of values picc was looking for in this thread. Very different things.
