I read the article he wrote, and I wanted to get my opinion out there.
I don't think it would matter if more players streamed.
To begin with, the game itself isn't all that interesting to watch. The sounds are tinny and stupid sounding, the reg seems horrible, and there's so much going on in the map/screen itself that it's hard to pay attention to what's going on.
Secondly, most of the players who do stream complain themselves about the game and how much they don't like it. A constant defence you hear from players streaming CS:GO is, "I'm just giving it a shot."
The community and the industry alike are just not going to realize in time that no matter how pretty you make the cards, if the game doesn't work, then it doesn't work. How many people honestly watched incredible matches at prestigious events because of the graphics in 1.6?
No one.
People watch the game for the team work and the individual skill. Add graphics, take away some of the intellectual side of CS (ie: no need to buy ammo or make sure you're holding a better angle) and the game becomes boring as hell and predictable to watch.
Think of mindcraft. Purposely bad looking, but it's apparently quite fun to play.
Every other sport in the world has survived, and whattya know, hockey is still played on ice, football is still played on a field, and baseball is still played on a diamond. You don't see those sports changing to attract new spectators, they simply emphasise what is good about the sport.
Maybe one day the FPS community will have a game that the industry and sponsors realize is a sport and can be marketed as a sport, not a game/product.
Maybe 1.6 was that game, and now it's too late.

It's minecraft, not mindcraft and this game is pure shit, sorry. Everything else, +1.
And I'm pretty sure 1.6 was that game. CSP is very good mix of 1.6 and Source, but probably no one will play this game on professional scene.

CSP sucks as hell comparing to CS:GO.
If you like 1.6 good for you, play, now don't come here just to hate CS:GO.

Did I say that I hate CS:GO? I said that 1.6 was the best competitive FPS ever.
CS:GO will never be like 1.6 and you know that. CS:GO is good game but not on competitive scene.

Couldn't agree more dude.

reply to lurppis article aswell:
I will never understand Why in the world does something need to be changed, cuz we, the community, don't want things to change, the only people who wants things to change are making money out of it, lika valve, some pc component making companys etc, cuz to play this shity game, a lot of people need to invest money to even buy a pc that can run it! this topic is fucking silly, you are basically saying - give your money to them, just try it, and let them earn your money
P.S. I played the game for ~1-2weeks, it's really awful and not fun at all, source players can be happy, but I'm a 1.6 player so fuck me valve right ?

1-2 Weeks? LOOOOOL!
2012-09-18 15:37:21
it's not really worth playing more, cuz it's just not fun enough to even bother playing more ;/
2012-09-18 18:44:00
In my little english... Go fuck yourself... You are criticizing a game playing 2 weeks? Lol...
2012-09-19 17:35:37

Yes ofc... Man I have about 3000 hours in 1.6 in 2 different steams. The game is nice. Nice to play, enjoyable and with a good gameplay etc. Movements i don't like that much but we can't have all. You and akkaaz just can be stupid...
2012-09-19 18:43:51
no we are just telling the truth about the game, cuz we are not payed to tell different.
2012-09-19 19:09:35
I agree with you man, most pros are just hoping to keep playing tournaments and for what it seems, it's not going to happen.
2012-09-17 20:26:28
Agree with you brother. Your stand on 1.6 is commendable. May be 1.6 is that kinda game indeed, and our ignorance partly is being the reason behind its ongoing demise.
We have to agree that with the course of the time computer technology get improves, so do the game are needed to be revised. But the make-over executed should always consistent with the preceding game, its intellectual aspects etc, alongside with graphic and reality in the game. GO never would be a match for 1.6, replacing it with GO is a blunder.
If its any consolation, 1.6 isn't dead yet.

1.6 is dead in pro scene since 2 years mate.
ESL EPS series where dropped in uk, beneleux, etc...
many other tournies...
LANS were giving less cash prices for cs 1.6 compared to css
Now you can see here almost all 1.6 lans are dropped and there are still a bit of css ones + alot of new cs go ones.
cs 1.5 has still pub servers since so many years, 1.6 will do the same

How much prize money did Source have in IEM Global Finals?
2012-09-18 11:44:56
those are big lans but if you look at those small lans here because we don't have big lans anymore the prices for css are higher.
Don't you have the same in the uk ?
css having bigger prices then 1.6 ?
same thing for teams attending i see there are more css teams then 1.6 :(
Lanforce, FOM,...
The FOM they had css lan in october i think and there is no 1.6
(600 players attending)

Compare 1.6 prime with source's prime.
2012-09-18 12:03:53
of course cs 1.6 has bigger prime, i am just saying that the scene is dead since a few years and every1 is saying bullshit about it.
Pub scene will be still there, Medal of honor has still server even if its since 6+ years old for example.
i dont care about 1.6 prime anyways because it went out much earlyer then css when fps games where at 0 pro lvl.

The point is:
CS 1.6 is 10 times more successful than CS Source

of course ?
it is logic

2012-09-18 12:36:28
You are making CSS look like it was more successful in the last 3-4 years which it wasnt. Dont talk bullshit CS had WCG,IEM, Arbalet Cups, ESWC, DreamHack,GameGunes,CPH Games and all those big tournaments and all Source had was those small tournaments with less than 5,000$ going to the winner.
2012-09-18 13:14:19
you sure you are from the uk ?
I was talking about local lans in belgium,Uk, france, i even asked a question you didn't answer about beeing the same or not in the uk that small lans dropped 1.6 in place of css and now cs go replaced them ?
since a few years all local lans dropped prices for 1.6 under css or dropped cs 1.6.
Learn to read...
Small lans/ biggest in my country + other countries around it dropped 1.6 since a moment now.
I was talking about OUR countries here (uk france belgium,...)
All those big lans are no more here.
what are you even talking about ?...
Sry for not beeing perfect at giving my point but attacking my like that is bullshit.

Well yeah CS 1.6 has been dead for a while in UK besides those Firecore lans, and those three countries never were big in 1.6 so it doesnt matter France only had a few good teams over the years (emulate, esahara), UK had 4K and only 2-3 of them were from UK, Belgium never had a good team. Yeah those local tournaments are picking CS:GO instead of 1.6 but 1.6 had all those big tournaments and ofc everything has an end, now even big tournaments are picking GO (DH,ESWC) but Source was never big in the other countries that was my point.
2012-09-18 13:41:19
exactly
and i think it is too bad because you need the small lans to give a start to new players that could become later pro players.

2012-09-19 04:18:59
Why are you so defensive of your dead game? He's not even saying source was more successful than 1.6, everybody knows 1.6 was superior...
2012-09-19 17:44:33
Nope not everybody you can see there are many people who play Source that hate 1.6 so badly and want GO to succeed just to make 1.6 disappear because the game that they love was a failure.

painkiller April 12, 2004
quake was before half life/cs but not painkiller
With pro lvl 0 i mean the fps games weren't that famous compared to now. There were much less spectators and players.

You hardly made this thread to reply to lurpis, you just made a thread statiung that you dont like csgo and for these reasons blah blah blah, there are ton of other csgo bashing threads, nothign you said on here will win you a nobel prize, you are also comparing a game to real sports like football and hockey which pretty much makes me think you are a retard.
Of course you are going to get the same old 30-40 fan boys agreing with whatever you say, even if you told them they would have to shit on their mothers face to keep 1.6 alive they would agree.

Most of us play multiple games, so we know which are fun and whats not. I'll be honest and say I found source to be ok to play, nothing special but I struggled to watch any matches because it's just too random. Even when big named US players all converted during the CGS times it was hard to be a spectator.
GO is basically the same as source, I dont care what people say.

Nicely written, but it's just another typical "cs:go sucks now everyone agree with me" thread which are quite common on these forums.
Unfortunately your thread won't change anything. World, in this case CS pro scene, just goes on with or without you.

If you want there to be tournaments, there you have to got sponsors. I understand, that nvidia for example has no reason to sponsor 1.6, cause you don't need good gpu for 1.6. But what about producers of mice, headphones, mousepads, keyboards, monitors...? Especially monitors.
2012-09-19 18:55:14
steelseries sponsors till now most of the major clans. Benq sponsored a few tournaments just like samsung is hosting WCG. Nvidia sponsored a few smaller tournaments as well few years ago. Intel? IEM? heard of that? They droped it because the view count was not high enough. But yeah you could blame razer :D

Nobody is forcing anyone to play GO. If you don't like it, don't play it. But don't hate the game. People, stop being so arrogant. Just play 1.6 or CSP and have fun! Because you do not sound cool by saying "LOL, CSGO SUCKS BALLS", "HE IS A SOURCE PLAYER, HAHAHAHA, WHAT A DICK". Come on, that's just amberessing. Of course I feel bad for 1.6 being wiped out of the competitive scene because it is the only game I play. But come on, just move on
