CS:GO is no longer a top10 game on steam
So it has finally happened, the game has dropped out from the ten most played games on steam, despite it being so new. CS 1.6 has been top5 since 2003, CS:GO couldn't manage top10 for a few months.

And it's not just a short slump, the game wasn't in the top 10 8 hour sago and it still isn't.

Will this change with the next patch (that we have no knowledge about what so ever right now)?

Thanks for the info. The map screenshots look much better. I thought that Valve guys got the idea to make the original inferno while having chicken wings and sushi, so they had chicken running around B bombsite and fish swimming in the pool.

I dont like these personally, theyre too much 1.6 imo.. they should combine it together and remove the mess around. Some things on source maps were better, 1.6 maps would make the game look so "simple/easy" regarding the tactics etc.

I've never liked Source engine. Every single game with source engine is lacking fluidity in movement. Feels like driving on a bumpy road.

I'm no expert programmer so please excuse me if I'm wrong, why can't Valve copy GoldSrc's (Half-Life 1 engine) coding for movement? Is it that hard?

I think not. the game itself so far failed to bring in new players, and therefore, taking into account that players of cs and source, does not see it as a good alternative or a better game, it will be very difficult to achieve other statistics!

The numbers are bad. DH or not, regulars do tend to play the game every couple of days or so. The numbers reflect the daily peak by the way. GO's # of players has been falling steadily and consistently since release and virtually nothing has happened to reignite the interest.

I know that you like the game and there are lots of people out there who do so as well, but it doesn't change the fact that for the vast majority of the FPS scene GO is just another installment in a long series of generic, mediocre FPSes. And unless something radical happens very soon, it will fade into obscurity like the rest of generic, mediocre FPSes.

That is the case exactly. We need at least a few big LAN's to see where the game is going. Also we still need some major improvements which depend on the players and the community if they go the right direction. If DH winter is ready to put more money for their 1st GO tournament than ever before in CS, the developers and the sponsors behind really are ready to invest on this. Let's just hope it turns out well.

CS:GO isn't top10 right now because borderlands 2 and torchlight 2 ( two massively hyped and popular games) have just been released, they will die out like skyrim did. You are trying to induce panic with threads like these because you hate csgo and want it to fail, surprised you haven't been banned yet. Just fucking wait for dreamhack winter like the rest of us to see if this game is a big fail or not.


Oh and CS:GO has the same peak as before (22k) and is currently 11th for concurrent players so it doesn't mean jack shit.

Well, CS:GO has less players and less players then earlier days so I assumed that you meant that was the reason for CS:GO dropping out of top10, losing players to BL2 and TL2. But you just mean that CS:GO got passed because of two completely new communities, ok I see, sorry.

Can't really compare those games with Skyrim.
Skyrim is not an online nor coop game, still it's in the top10 on steam, and yet it is even said by countless addicted gamers that the game is overrated as shit.
On the other hand Borderlands has a huge fanbase, and the follow up game has already been praised to the skies and beyond. I don't know crap about Torchlight though, but yet again a multiplayer game, unlike Skyrim.

Agree, I don't see how it will get new people to watch streams. Right now the only people who are watching are some from the source community and some from the 1.6 who still want to watch some of their fav teams or players. Where are the new viewers going to come from when so little players play the game in the first place? It has to start from the beginning. Well the steam stats are facts after all...

Ive given CSGO a chance, ive played it a lot (well at least ive made it the second most played game on my steam account with like 50 games) and i really dont want to see FPS games dropped from tournaments.

I just hope they finally do a good update, which would change the game drastically. I just cant see tournaments and pro players going back to CS1.6 (for a long time anyways).

The fact that they really made maps (in the beginning) with the fog all around was just a fucking facial of shit on every fps players face. I just cant understand who comes up with a lot of the things theyve done for CSGO, but yea, im the worst casual gamer ever so maybe i just dont understand...

First of all; 1.6 has failed - so that's not what you should compare with, you have to compare it to SC2 and CS:GO numbers.

Secondly, in every major tournament (DH, IEM, WCG) 1.6 has better numbers than that. If NiP would go back to 1.6, an "unsignificant" groupstage game, bam 20k viewers, guaranteed.

I'm pretty convinced you're from the sourcecommunity where 5k speccs for a final in the biggest tournament is considered good, but that isn't the case for the rest of the esportsscene.

Id love to see new maps, and update on a recoil pattern+some movement updates and its definitely not a bad game. But for now I don't feel any hook playing it, like I did with 1.6 but nevertheless is a game we have to acknowledge that for fps CS:GO needs to get attention. It got stable 20k by now so its again on the top10. I predicted 1month ago when cs:go was going to be released the number after the 50k peak would be stable at around 15k. Damn i was right near it :D
Only missed by 5k :D But who knows it might drop to 15k in the next week

dota2 beta is so successful because the kept the heroes,n gameplay of dota n changed only the graphics and the interface...


with cs:go the completly changed the guns,movement,ecnomincs,
enerything...maybe if only the changed the graphics n interface it could have been bter

That what everybody begs them to do, but they are deaf and blind. They dont understand the market at all, i have no clue why valve is so incompetent in this area. its a obvious and huge potential. some quick fabricated products like source and csgo will attract nobody, the gameplay needs to be perfect, and just put new graphics and interface and it will explode like magic.

Idont play cs:go myself, but all the good players have moved to cs:go so even through there isnt "many" gamers, most of the gamers that play cs:go plays for competetion/tournaments.

I'd like to add, I went on 1.6 earlier for shits and gigs and found something quite interesting. Whilst many servers said they had around 30 players on them (they were VAC-protected, none of that NOSTEAM bullshit) they actually had no players at all, and a few specs which were just bots or something.

Judging from this, steam stats for the game are completely skewed and incorrect because people are using some exploit on their own servers to make it seem as though they have more players, thus altering Steam stats. I noticed this on about ten different servers I tried to connect to.


TL:DR 1.6 Steam stats are pretty much fake.

I hate when people mention these "viewer" numbers when they try to back up CS:GO, i think most of these viewers are looking into the game curiously and are primarily 1.6 and source players, they want to see good teams battle it out at an event, but as for playing the game themselves... well thats a different story
