Main reason why Swedish gamers are the best in games is because of the winters, and due to the economic situation.

People are having trouble of getting a 'fixed' job, and our youth unemployment is the top 3 highest in Europe.

Most of the gamers who've quit gaming has a fixed job, that's why they all suddenly quit. They won't comeback and that's that.

I've most of the "top legends" as you would call them on facebook, and some have kids now and some are having successful businesses.

I'd assume that 80% of the scene today will quit within a year mainly because there's a generation shift. People have started their 3-5 year education on universities and therefore they won't have time with gaming. (Just like me)

German internet sucks. There are even parts where you can't get 1Mbit. Pings are very bad for germans. The nearer you live to Frankfurt the better is your ping. I live round about 700km away from it and my ping on german servers is about 35. Compared to many other european countries it's shit.

Finland has won most medals per citizicen in the Olympic Games history, 3 world champions in F1 and we have quite a variety of sports with success.

Obviously with longass winters with only about 3 months a year of ideal circumstances for football that ain't gonna be our strong side

It's only Sweden not whole "Nordic" .. their early success in the game created a bigger hype for the game than in other countries, it's simple like that.

Also they have many "full-time" gamers because their job market seem to allow it.. whatever. In Germany for example this isn't possible due to high taxes and living costs, you simply need a real job here. Never the less there have been many successful German teams in the past and not one of them played full-time like fnatic or SK.

I have actually explanation why Nordic countries are better in gaming. In Finland and in Sweden, Norway living expenses are super high also education and medical care is so high that Nordic people can afford playing these games more than in USA where mid level in money can easily drop out to be poor.

In Finland I can just play and study all day long and nation gives me student money what buys fully my apartment, my food and my cold beverages. And yes I eat animals meat every single day.

Kinda funny though people who are working currently 8 hours a day are paying my stuff <3 gotta love this country

Imo the reason is the actice community and the history (like pointed out earlier).

When CS was just getting some attention to it Sweden, Finland and Germany were the ones who totally ruled the scene. Players who were young caught up with the game with the attention it was starting to get.

In the early days the teams like DkH, mTw.alt from Germany, Nordic Division from Sweden, Z and OCRANA (Apostrophe) from Finland were on top of the map, and that was back in 2001 and 2002. Also Infernum from Austria was great but their scene kinda died out and we saw their best join some german teams later. In nations cup Netherland placed 3rd in 2002.

Already back in 2003 4kings from Britain started to make some damage, placing 2nd in EC, and we saw the xPerince from Sweden. Nations Cup went to Sweden, Finland and Germany, in that order. Gotta add that the Denmark female team won the female NC.

Back then the northern part of Europe was the only scene there was (in Europe ofc, the US had some badass shit going on aswell). Latency issues and the lack of LAN tournaments were prolly the main reasons for that. Netherlands and France were right up in there what comes to talent but obviously the pings between finns/swedes and the french were not allowing further collision between the scenes. Don't know how much the germans played with them.

So together with the early intrest, the active scene and the level of challenge/quality are imo the main reasons for the success.

The last places I would go for anything to be invented and designed for the better is the top tier of highest average IQ places in the world. Most inventions come from Europe and mass produced in mass populous countries, due to cheap labor.

For places with such high iq's, they seem to have serious problems with breeding, pollution, human rights, civil war and disease. There are many places on the internet that display statistics that the highest IQ not by average but extremely smart people come out of Northern Europe, but it's a waste of time since statistics are based on so many variables. Such IQ tests don't ask you specific questions, it's more about common sense.

but who do they ask to fill them? best university students? drunkards? people on the streets? they would have to test enormous numbers of people in each country for it to be close to truth and even then you don't know if that research company owner doesn't manipulate it so that his nation is on top

Of course it's not possible to ask everyone in every country. They ask people of every social class and calculate the average of the outcome in the end. Not more and not less. You can interpret whatever you want in those surveys. :)

Einstein already said, knowledge isn't power, creativity is, which I believe is true. You can know all you want, but so many intelligent people are absolutely useless because they just harvest information but don't know how to apply it in the physical world.

Check pretty much every invention made, it usually comes from Northern Europe and then mass produced in Asia to to ship to the world. Common sense is another factor that I feel is a huge asset to being successful, I've met many smart people from all over the world, but they're absolutely useless when it comes to common sense, which is what people need for day to day activities.

Germany brings nothing but the best quality products to the world in anything they do, I would take anything a German makes over pretty much any other country in the world, they're clearly the creators of the planet and deliver it with the best quality! I <3 Germany

only swedish are better at counter strike and have a lot of top players at starcraft too but not the best. It may also be to their freetime, for example, we finish school at 4-5 pm, so it gives us less free time to do stuff. (I don't really know how school works in sweden, correct me if I'm wrong).

Depending on what education you choose like I should end every day at 5 but now I'm going to a school where I got no really breaks in the middle of the school like in august and such instead I go to school during that time so I end around 1-2 pm one or two days 3-4 pm

In denmark we like to eat pigs/grise hehe, and we like to hear the music of kandis and going to a bar. We also got a red sausage, actully it tastes really good, but its red so i feel like im a vampire hehe. Our capital is Moscow and it is very cold there, so we are freezing. But when its that cold we just go to the cinema and watch twilight and Black sheep.
