It's like CS 1.6 and CSS. One is clearly dumbed down version of the other.
2012-10-14 04:02:24
Nope. Not in any way in my opinion.
2012-10-14 04:05:42
ok and CS 1.6 is ? Dota ?
As I said some people can hate LoL for some reason but this is not bad game.

Indeed.

ino lol just wish we had something in counter strike ;(
2012-10-14 04:02:47
well, by what ive seen in streams, dota 2 is way harder and competitive than LoL, but i have to play it to be sure.
ill watch it anyway
ill watch it anyway
2012-10-14 03:40:09
way harder? definitely
more competitive? no
more competitive? no
2012-10-14 03:50:35
you do realise that those two are esentially the same?
2012-10-14 13:26:23
They are not the same. LoL is moronic version of DotA for retarded kids and mentally handicapped adults.
2012-10-14 14:25:06
DotA is way harder then LoL, and therefore it's also more competitive. What in this statement do you disagree with?
2012-10-14 14:46:30
Please, just don't talk like that.. You make us look at the LoL community with more pity :/
2012-10-14 17:00:02
OMG THIS IS SO AWESOME, NERDGASM.
2012-10-14 04:00:26
to be honest Valve should learn from Riot how make and hold community.
2012-10-14 04:06:39
Riot is probably the best game-developer in the world. Not due to the game, but all the extra things they do. They're really supportive when it comes to e-sport and the community. There might be better games than LoL, but Riot is what makes the difference.
2012-10-14 04:08:27
true, they regularly patching and improving their game, new things, new champions, new options. They listen to community...
And as we can see they doing a lot for eSport.
Now look on Valve...just sad.
And as we can see they doing a lot for eSport.

2012-10-14 04:17:48
for csgo I have no clue about Valve but the dota2 community loves valve because every week there is a patch of with the things you mentioned and if there is a bug pointed out it is fixed immediately and listen to everything the community says. Like I listen below, riot is doing nothing for e-sports but rather their game.
2012-10-14 05:12:50
Riot.. You clearly don't know a lot about valve. They brought a classic game to a virtualy new dimension, just to keep it alive after LoL and HoN kicked it. Of course DotA is doing great, they've kept their truest players. Why? Because true gamers play for gameplay, and the more complex the game is and the more skill you need to play it proves it's much more true to the competetive gamers definition.
Yes Riot is making weekly updates and that sort of bullcrap.. But really, do you think they do it for the sake of the community only? Look how much money they get. A new hero comes out BOOOOM - 40% of players buy it. They liked it? Then why not a skin? Revenue i this thing is high as fuck.
And now Valve.. As i already mentioned they're reviving a classic. The community? They're doing everything to please the community, to make it more comfortable to play everything. And not only they do improve the gameplay, they let people express themselves, let them gain money. How? Have you ever heared of the workshop? That's DotA's way of making skins. And nooo, they don't do the toddler-theme-typed shit just to make it more colorful and make it more appealing to people, so they would buy it, they're really making it because of the atmosphere. A lot of equipment is based on the character and their lore. They won't put a "santa-themed" suit on a serious character.
LoL is more of a casual game so that makes it more easier for Riot to please the community, because they don't really have the need for the content to really improve the gameplay and competetivness of the game. DotA, if you'd add content to it, that would've even slighty dissatisfied the community it would really be a disaster.
Statement - OVER.

i wrote it about CS not Dota.
CS was or still is the main eSports Valve game and they rly do nothing compared to Riot...ofc even Riot do nothing for free - its all about money, but its a business and we cant blame game developers for it...
but still Valve somehow should help eSport to grow up...

2012-10-14 21:07:39
i think you are forgetting Blizzard
2012-10-14 04:38:48
As I said, I'm not talking about the game only. I mean in general, and how much they do for their userbase and community. Their contribution to e-sport is such a revolution for the better.
2012-10-14 04:53:38
Riot is not supporting e-sports. They are spending money to promote their own game and shut any other competition out.
2012-10-14 04:59:39
I'm sorry, how their working method and interest is, aren't of my knowledge. All I know is that they're making e-sport ALOT more professional and does a lot for the community. But on the other hand, I'm just a spectator giving love that I believe they deserve right? :-)

See that's what you think from an outsiders perspective. Again they aren't doing anything for "E-sports". They are making LoL become the definition of e-sports. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing again the actual game LoL. Riot contracts that include exclusivity to just their game and no other moba hardly grows e-sports. They fund most of their tournaments with huge prizepools which is doing nothing for e-sports because who would want to play other games competitive when you can earn so much from competitive LoL? Asking some big organisations to drop their dota/HON teams and pick up a LoL team or drop their other moba teams if you want to compete in LoL tournaments. Yeah Riot denied those accusations but the organisations have confirmed it. So yeah I might come of as a hater and I don't hate LoL the game at all but rather Riot how they try to become e-sports itself preventing other games from rising.
2012-10-14 05:26:50
I would really like to discuss this at a later time, as you've got some interesting points, although I'm not fully agreeing with your thesis. It's 05.30 at night here right now, so I'm tired and sleepy. I just want to enjoy this spectacular event featuring my favorite game. =)
2012-10-14 05:36:16
ofc that Riot is doing it for themselves like Microsoft did for years. It was only one good browser, only one good OS etc. They were blocking what they were able to. With great amount of $$$ you can do almost everything.
I don't think that they will give a lead for some other games just for idea of eSport.

Carmac told a month ago that wasnt true at all
2012-10-14 13:29:57
obviously carmac will deny it. Riot practically owns him. Here is a part from a interview slasher did with the VP of Riot.
Q : Are there exclusivity agreements set in place with different organizations regarding not running concurrent DOTA/MOBA titles at the same time? Do you see this as basic business?
A : Anybody could strike a deal with a league that includes a period of exclusivity. This is great for the leagues because it means they’re in high demand. And why wouldn’t they be? MLG, ESL, and IPL put on great events. Of course we want League of Legends to be in the spotlight at these events. Part of the rationale for these kinds of contracts is that it gives us the ability to have a greater influence on the spectator experience to better meet fan expectations.
After it was confirmed by certain organisations about riot asking them to drop teams or not have other moba teams, riot said that it was simply miscommunication between the teams and riot but come on... some of the orgs confirmed it.

Depends on point of your view, Valve is putting a lot of work and energy to Dota 2 development.
GO is another story.

Well...Riot has only one game, and they will bring it to perfection.
Valve on the other hand has many games and Steam to maintain.

2012-10-14 04:36:11
The main reason, or maybe one of the reasons that LoL have alot of people watching their streamings is that in the main menu of the game you only have to click to spectate the macht, something that up this times never happen in any cs game.

the LoL community is HUGE and even without the click feature it would get those numbers. No point comparing cs to LoL because LoL has 1.3 million concurrent players which makes any cs or all cs combined look like nothing.
2012-10-14 05:14:17
well, back in 2003-2006 counter strike 1.6 has 10x more players than LoL will ever have, so it makes LoL looks like nothing

No reason to start an argument about that, we're here to apreciate this tournament and most of us would probably prefer to keep this thread clean of arguing and obvious provoking baits.
2012-10-14 05:20:59
trying to copy dota 2 like always :D trash lol players are trash
2012-10-14 10:35:30
LoL is 10 times biggers than ANY other eSport including dota ATM, so if you ask me, i would say its a pretty god damn good "copy" ;)
2012-10-14 12:37:19
we'll see after dota 2 gets fully released =D
2012-10-14 13:33:14
Theres one big diference beetween dota and LoL and its the same reason why LoL will ALWAYS be bigger: Riot cares for their game.
2012-10-14 13:41:03
no youre not right...riot puts money in their tournaments to be sucesfull... and dont dare to compare TI2 with any LoL shitty tournament...LoL doesnt care about their players, they only care about making their company name "riot" bigger and stuff . the difference between lol and dota is that dota promotes the teams, the players and their sponsors not valve...
in conclusion when you put money in other tournaments to promote your company isnt really caring about their game or players..

What the hell is your problem? Why are you so mad? Let people apreciate the game they like without telling them "l00alz ur gaem iz s0 bad l0olololol trash n000bz l0l report." People have different views, and people may have opinion that differs from yours. Well well, it's not like I expect you to understand anyways.
2012-10-14 15:45:55
you are totally blind ? most of this your comment is 100% bullshit sry.
2012-10-14 15:49:58
what? Riot listens to the community like no one else, when all the community say something, they do it.. because they now the community is what keeps the games alive, dont hate too much, take it easy and chill out
/peace ;)
/peace ;)
2012-10-14 16:12:58
yeah thats why all my friends that play LoL say riot just makes op heroes every week
2012-10-14 19:53:33
because they want to sell, but then they get weaker, those op champs only come out to inovate the meta of the game, so it doesnt get boring, and played with the same champs over and over, when heroes are too OP they are nerfed so it doesnt get out of control
but hey, riot is not perfect OFC, but imho, its an example companies of esports should really follow =)

Yeah, nothing but 'shit, trash' game. As always community of 1.6 is showing us how great they are.
Don't forget to type 1.6 > all, GO shit, 1.6 comeback etc.
Ppl just can't accept that some MOBA game is now top1. LoL isn't perfect but it's popular, easy to learn and play (like windows, not best OS but the most popular). Also not easy to master.

Yeah, the 1.6-community is pretty much the cancer of the internet. And I've been a part of it for MANY years, and tbh it has never been as bad as this. The 3rd world is taking over sadly.
2012-10-14 15:46:57

2012-10-14 12:06:07
Did you watch the games? Taipei Assassins were easily stronger. They dominated every game except the first and they could have won that one.
2012-10-14 16:10:24
yeah i know but i had no idea that these asian teams were so strong.. im really disappointed by m5 or CLG not being at least in the finals.. its a shame asians will dominate LoL too xD
