Organising an internet tournament, were each country would be represented by 5 users of the site ;D

Now back to reality:
-A like/dislike comment button
-More diversity on the "Fan Center" eg: adding weapons or maps...
-Report thread/blog or the blogs have to be first read by an admin and only if an admin allows it, it will appear on the frontpage
-When a comment is reported X times, it will disappear until an admin checks it
-The reply window appear below the comment that we are replying

I agree with some guys here, id like a gather system on hltv.org, maybe some kind of tournament for the not pro teams. Do more for the amateurs on hltv. I'd like that :)

i'd like to see in the site more web 2.0 features, like in demo section onclick a slide down div with the stats, or like e preview balloon in mouse over of the active threads etc or even ajax comments and news

There will not be +1/-1 buttons, as I do not see their purpose.

hltv.org should release a map named de_hltv, of course designed by themselves!

Well if you did have mappers, sod de_hltv make mirror maps.

As for hltv itself depends on your goals...

Delete all the old leagues that haven't been active since 02.

#1 online league in each country is recommended with stats recorded ( If it's active enough/ has a good amount of teams/respectable admins NO GOONS )

+1/-1 button, saves seeing threads filled with comments like that.

Possibly some huge yearly tournament with all the top teams / rookie top teams (the ones that can't win a game outside their country)

wt about having a seperate section like Fan Center named Q & A.. in diz area v can post the questions we like a pro player to answer and hopefully hltv.org wil do a interview with doze players and get da answers . Ignore me is diz is stupid

im not saying this is one ugly, i like it, its very organized but its kinda "classic"

i like some idea's here for example the gather one , would take long to make but maybe an anti cheat u can work with ? :) to keep fair for all ? :)

It would be nice if we can put pictures in our blogs the way you do in the news. Would be nice if an admin looks for them before they're puublished. Might be a bad idea, but I'd like that. :)

Ok so for the ideas that are already on my plate:

Redesign profiles, especially guestbook and friend systems should be improved.

Make a form of notification, e.g. when you are added as a friend, or someone write in your guestbook, maybe combine this with the forum answers and pm's in a notification dropdown ala what Facebook has.

Fan center upgrades, more stats and stuff on teams and players.

Looking into the forums, changing the categories, maybe detaching active forum threads from active match threads in the right hand column on the site so the forum gets a better chance. Embed youtube features for the movie forum.

The new Dreamteam features I have blogged about, these are nearly done.

Some mobile stuff, either an Android app and or a m.hltv.org to cater to all the smartphones out there..

Some way to view recent results as well as old match threads.

Maybe look into doing local language forums, e.g. a Danish, Polish or whatever forum that you can access depending on the country setting in your profile, this would then be in the local language, it would however require native speaking moderators, so it is still very much just a thought..

That was just on top of my head, there is prolly more stuff that I will remember in a minute.. For each of these things I will most likely present the changes I plan to do in a blog before actually doing them so you can follow the development.. I am however still very interested in hearing your ideas.. :)

i think that gather system or deathmatch, pub, whatever, can't be possible, because they would have a server for Brazil, a server for Argentina, a server for north america, a server for europe, a server for all countries whom have shitty connection...

This is real cool. You can make adjustments, but this is what I love to see.

like #4, a hltv weekly cup, with or without prizes i dont care, and if so much trouble or timeconsuming for you guys, maybe the power for us users, to "create" a one day cup. Would be great, as i am wanting to play a short weekly cup.

in a near future: Stream with English Commentators and maybe a monthly web-show with the recap on the cs scene in that month. (HLTVtv.)

in a more distant future: Start Covering another games. Hltv owns CS covering scene... so why not getting bigger? Of course that means that more sponsors are needed. But it can be done.

A mobile version,as already voiced earlier would be the most awesome thing.

I think that the idea for a mobile app is the right thing.
However, this would be ppv service huh?

As innovation and Technical Design is one of my strong fields of expertise i'll try and address some of the suggestions.

(Note: what i post is in no way set in stone, im just logically thinking about the solutions and whether they are viable or not)


Mobile Versions
Android and iOS (basically operating systems for both Google and iphone smartphones) are quite easy to make.

Android was the preferred method of Nomad because he hates apple. Not to mention to make an Apple App you need a license to sell it. Where as Android is free.

As mentioned, if the Android one gets good use, maybe it's worth paying the developer fee to create an iOS one as well.

PUG / Gather System
The problem with this is, users come from all over the world. Since our servers are currently hosted in Germany, the latency to the server would basically ignore 50% of our users. The problems don't stop there either. Since it would be hosted in Germany, a lot of Germans would play, meaning we would need a German moderator, + a moderator for every other language.

This does not even factor in that, it might be impossible to PUG with people from another country due to language barriers.

It's probably safe to say this one wont happen.

STREAM
Stream might work, with roughly 5000+ users watching a decent quality match, the number of spectators could make it worthwhile. The downside is, anything IEM, and some ESL, already have their own streaming, so our show would be useless for these events. WCG often has a Stream aswell. So this leaves us with the odd match here and there depending on the event. It's a maybe at best...

PLAYER SCORECARDS
I really like this one, firstly for those who don't know what we are talking about here is a pic: http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1879/matchcard.jpg

So basically on the Matchcard (that we already have - those threads with the IP and comments about the match) we could have an awards section once the match is completed, would basically replace the MVP part. As the screen-shot above shows, it breaks down the stats of each player (kills,deaths,DPR,KPR,etc) But also offers some awards, like Marksmanship award = highest HeadShot ratio or whatever, most of this info is already entered, when we do the stats.

THUMBS UP/DOWN
Was one of the breakthrough web2.0 concepts in it's time which started off great, but has since turned to mud.

If used correctly it would work great around here, anyone posting those 'Guns are Drawn' links would get instantly 'downed' and the post would get nuked. Would save time moderating, same would happen when people post in different languages.

On the other hand, you might get people just 'downing' every post a person makes, simply because they don't like him, this doesn't happen that much on youtube because the chances are you wont come across that person again to hold a grudge against. Here, most of the people know each other and i know for a fact there are some rivalries going on and people thinking each other are trolls etc.

The other downside is people 'looking for Ups' people post a fairly generic statement like "THUMBS UP IF YOU THINK CS IS BETTER THAN CSS" and he gets thousands of Up's. This is a comment that would never be posted if the Up/Down system wasn't in place. So the Spam can go both ways.

Facebook successfully solved this problem by only having a 'Like' button, this stopped the personal rivalries and they couldn't harm the posts of there rival.

Needs more thought i think.

In the users profile, on the friends tab could be added an option to PM that person from your profile, instead of having to enter in that user profile and then PM him.

The search needs to be improved, when you're searching for something the news appear first and everything else is all mixed up.
All the results should be organized by it sub forums and by the date they were posted.

I'd like to suggest maybe some kind of "Map of the Month" exhibition matches on some viable maps other then the ones played atm. :)

#1 You pick a few (3-5 a month) viable maps.
#2 Either have a small semi-pro team tournament or just a few exibition matches.
#3 Have HLTV on the server to allow the community to see the maps played and comment on them.
#4 Take player statements on what they think of the maps.
#5 At the end of the month have a poll to see which map is the MotM :)
#6 If there is a close 2nd/3rd have those maps transfered to the next month MotM :)
#7 Later, depending on how many of these you do, you can have all the winner maps battle it out to get e.g. the "Map of the Year", you get the picture.

I welcome any ideas or alterations to my suggestion :)

Also love the new demo stats but i find HLTV demo stats lacking what POV demos have, the players CT/T score, for example too see who to watch each half.

I thought maybe something like this could be done.
Either #1 or #2 would be fine. :)

If you havent noticed there is a rather big community of moviemakers in hltv.org. You could modify the movie forum so that people can rate/thumbs up or some sort of score to the movie. And then at the end of each week hltv.org promotes the best rated movie.

android app

-Users should be able to create polls.
-We should also be able to find older matches not just by the ID match and google.
-The Scorebot should automatically display the current score and final result. These live-scores could be displayed together on a separate page to have an overview of all intermediate results. Possibly also as a mobile version.
-There should be a photo rating system from 1-10
-A news ticker as a win7 gadget
-A friend remove function
-Users with a huge penis should get more rights.
-There must be a forum search function.
-Would be nice to have a page from which you could download demos without getting evidences to obtain the result to follow the tournament afterward.

For the iOS app :

Easiest way(but expensive): "Cashew" iphone app builder for simple showcase sites http://cashew.madebykawet.com/en/
(590 € to build the app and 29€/month to keep it on the iStore)

Hard way : Learn Objective-C :D A cool object oriented object programming language. You'll need to have the apple liscence dev to pay $99/year to distribute your app on the iStore.

PS : I recommend for you the 2nd choice (less expensive), but if you want to build a fast app, pusblishing you rss feeds/images/news cashew is pretty cool because you can build and update your apps "like building legos". (yes it's a cms)


It would be cool if you can do a large Events Calendar of all planned Tournaments(IEM, ESWC, WCG, Dreamhack, Intel Masters, etc) of the year, with a link in the left menu :). I like the one you did over a the upcoming month, but one with a summary of the big dates of the year would be cool too :P

- a gather system with irc channel will be huge. at least in portugal. with a good AC of course.

- hltv tournments for non-professional clans. i think it will reveal lots of good teams and players.

- if one or both were applied, a user panel with his current stats like K/D, time played, etc.

-Chat with Professional Players

- mood status
- detach match threads as you said
- a search bar (not just profiles)
- new posts button related to your posts or threads
- a remove friend feature
- a "new gallery comment" notification
- fix the BOLD and ITALIC when writing a blog (it reloads the page if you select something to be bolded, unless you write it yourself)
- the little button colors of each thread category confuses me every single time, add titles into the active threads. Max 5 active threads of each category.
- add an "old password" box when changing your password, i think it's safer.
- a "recent downloads" maybe
