Portugal did a pretty secure Group Stage, finishing 2nd behind Finland, winning national teams like France (2011 champion), Netherland and Czech.

Haven't seen any UK match, but judging by the results they did a good job, still i don't think we can compare the oposite teams on both groups A and D..

Mhh I can't predict this match.. Portugal has the strongest line up possible comparing to their last matches. So they should play better than during the groupstage..I've seen some of the UK matches and this team has shown an amazing game during the groupstage against teams like Sweden, Russia, Belarus.. But UK has only played on dust2 (3x)and on inferno (2x) during the groupstage, which makes them hard to predict but also less prepared for different maps..

Considering that the match will be played on inferno, tuscan and dust2, I'm pretty sure that tuscan will be decisive...

We have attended events in the past, but two of us are students with no money and in a game that is dying unless you have a top org already, it's hard to justify spending so much money to go to an event unless we plan it months in advance and practice a lot - which isn't possible at the moment.

Just because the UK is more developed than Portugal doesn't mean they can financially attend more lans, there isn't one major organisation in the UK that will support Counter-Strike 1.6.. Skill 0, firstly your from Switzerland apart from money laundering and secret bank accounts thats about as much use as you have.

The fact UK lineup has been virtually same 5 of players for years and won every single UK LAN - bar one which was 1map and the first time they've ever lost at a UK LAN, international events were funded by dignitas (who no longer support 1.6) which they've managed to pull in some decent results, drawing with mTw on their prime to name just one... since then there has been 0 backing from any UK organisation, they don't care about CS 1.6 as is a dying game here in the UK - This lineup of people have played with each other for probably 3-4years now? (bar chiquita)

Not to mention the UK refuses to host qualifers over the last 4 years for ESWC, WCG, KODE5 etc etc.. So apart from support from sponsors to send a UK team (no UK organisation bascially has CS 1.6 teams) as they are all students they arnt able to go to european lan events like they could when they were under Dignitas...

If there was an organisation in the UK or Europe that would pick them up to show their talent and progression from 2008 to now (winning all UK lans which they paid for themselves) to attend a european one would mean huge traveling... I mean myself and zaK went with a european mix team for dreamhack with 0 practice and lost 16-13/14 to aAa who were EPS FR Champions at the time with a random lineup of mix players, give a lineup that has been together for 3-4 years an org for partial or full funding and gurantee they will supprise people when it comes to LAN events.

If an organisation and read this and see, then they will understand to speak and contact them if they want a team that's new and upcoming.. a team like this stays with the same players and is still able to perform and progress even with little support from any organisation, so imagine what they are able to do with an org..

that is not the problem. UK started rushing everywhere Portuguese players went, which is strange for a "weak" team: the problem is that UK players were too much "confident" on rushing for a team made by players that NEVER(!) made good appearances at LAN, only showing results on-line, which leads to thinking that UK team was cheating.
For example, Na`Vi played against such worse teams that Portuguese ones and never, NEVER started rushing through the whole map everywhere enemies went like UK players did: UK players didn't check any spot except the spots PT players were, which is suspicious.

Just because they did bad (lost a bo1 bracket game vs a good opponent) at one LAN doesn't mean they're online. suffz,aaron have been in dignitas for ages before it shut down, archie has been to loads of UK LANs where he's performed well, zaK has been around for ages in teams like TCM,FreeAgents etc doing well at LAN as well, chiquita is probably the one with least experience but he came 2nd this last LAN where he beat the others playing tonight. Hell, compared to the pt line-up they've had more international experience besides maybe fox. If anything they were expected to win this game.

UK hasn't had ESWC/WCG qualifers since 08? If a UK team can get sponsorship they'd do fine on the LAN scene, hence drawing with mTw 15-15 which was virtually the last lan a UK team went to - virtually organisations in the UK Gaming Scene stopped supporting CS1.6 and support other games, so if there is an organisation out there to help fund them then speak to them!

The thing, we have organizations that support our players. And these five players are not from the same team. They've have played with each other in the past, but they don't do it on a regular basis.

UK scene, on the other hand, is pretty much dead and all these players do is play gathers and mixes, many of the times together. These are good players with a history (Dignitas, etc), meaning skilled with some teamplay and it was enough to defeat us.

Good game and I hope to see portuguese teams against UK ones on LAN. Oh wait ..
