$40,000 Game Evolution announced

Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The organisers behind Game Evolution have announced that they will put together a CS:GO tournament with $40,000 in cash prizes.

After iMpulse came out on top of Golden Hall in 1.6 back in December, Counter-Strike will return to Dubai, now with the game's latest installment, as Dubai will stage a tournament that will certainly attract some of the world's strongest sides.

A total of 20 teams will be in action at Game Evolution, which will be held between November 15th to 16th at the Dubai World Trade Center, with four of them being directly invited by the organisation.

Dubai to stage massive eSports tournament

There will also be League of Legends, Dota 2, Fifa 13 and Super Street Fighter tournaments at the event, which will feature a total prize purse of $150,000.

Moreover, Index Conferences & Exhibitions Dubai, the organisers of the event, stressed that all prizes will be paid on location after the tournaments have come to an end.

Meanwhile, a partnership has been established with Emirates Airlines, which will allow the players who sign up for the tournaments to have special discounts on their plane tickets. The teams will also benefit from special conditions on hotels that have partnered with the event.

Stay tuned to HLTV.org as we will bring you all the info about Game Evolution.

havoK? BTW Moreover, the Game Evolution organisers stressed that all prizes will be paid on location after the tournaments have come to an end. This is something that should every event do!
2013-02-19 16:03:53
esea has been doing that since they started their league
2013-02-19 16:15:34
If only it were legal, more events would do it :)
2013-02-19 16:34:49
Pretty sure it's perfectly legal on most European countries. It's up to the resciever to file it with their countries repective tax-systems, or am i wrong?
2013-02-19 16:49:42
Yeah sure come back with 500 quid each after going to a lan and having 5 young men sitting in a car. They most likely will not think that you have dealt drugs.
2013-02-19 17:20:19
You also receive a "winning cheque" so u can convince the cops u are legit =D

That's the wierdest reply i have gotten in a long time.
2013-02-19 19:46:04
I dont do the moneyside of events, but in both belgium and czech republic we opted not to pay out in cash for various legal reasons.
2013-02-19 18:02:23
Same with all SLAP events in Denmark.

2013-02-19 16:07:43
I don't think that too many european teams will attend there. Only the rich organisations probably. Like NaVi for instance.
2013-02-19 16:09:52
Why? The flights to Dubai aren't even that expensive if you book them now.
2013-02-19 16:12:13
Well see :-)
2013-02-19 16:15:24
My gf paid 700 usd to dubai and back when she went on a graduation trip with her class. A total of 1k usd with the hotel included, so no, its now that expensive. I'm sure you'll see a lot of top teams such as VG, NiP, ESC
2013-02-19 18:30:33
Only the rich organisations probably

those are obviously VG, NIP, ESC
2013-02-19 18:38:22

$45k~ CPH
$10k+ multiple iseries
$16k ESH Vienna
$16k ESH Birmingham
$13k Paris tournament
$40k Game evolution tournament
$15k techlabs
$??? SLTV Starseries
$156k EMS tournaments
$35k ESEA

Then 3 dreamhacks coming up, probably featuring around $80k+ collectively, ESWC with $20k+ easily, and most likely lots more new tournaments being announced along the way, maybe even 30p? :D

Plus a lot I have forgot about, crazy stuff :D
2013-02-19 16:38:47
Impressive list. Hopefully the prize money will increase as more sponsors jump on board. Tournament frequency > prize money though!
2013-02-19 16:44:56

2013-02-19 16:41:50
This isn't that much compared to other tournaments years ago. If I remember correctly mibr won 60k at ESWC, and this is "only" 45k for cs:go.
2013-02-19 18:25:23
but they will pay the prize on spot..not after 10 years ahha
2013-02-19 21:43:34
It's funny coz you're from greece.

Amazing
2013-02-19 16:38:55
Excellent
2013-02-19 16:50:31
Great stuff whats even greater is that player numbers are slowly slowly rising also, 15k to 30k+ within 3 months , hopefully it keeps going !

Scene looking stronK

2013-02-19 16:51:45
player numbers mostly rised up because valve fucked up Counter-Strike 1.6 with that unnecessary update.
2013-02-19 17:41:38
Are you dumb? They where rising before that
2013-02-19 17:42:08
no, they weren't. lol
I said MOSTLY, obviously that they are always some new players starting playing CS:GO, but not a significant rise.
2013-02-19 17:49:45
1.6 update has nothing to do with cs:go.
2013-02-19 20:30:37
You are wrong. It has been on a steady rise. They "fucked up" 1.6 5-7 days ago but there has been a rise long before that. here's the facts/stats:

http://steamgraph.net/index.php?action=graph&j..

You are wrong. EOD.
2013-02-19 20:33:15
they fucked up 1.6 in february. As u can tell by the graph. They just keep fucking up since then ...
2013-04-27 15:08:49
were
2013-02-19 19:23:46
rising and falling

Right now its not rising

http://steamgraph.net/index.php?action=graph&j..
2013-04-27 14:53:13
CS:GO's player numbers aren't really rising since ....month. Always something from 20-30k concurrent players. If they would've gone up to 40k in the last few month ..that would be a rise worth mentioning. But staying at 20-30k for months now? Despite all those tournaments? Cmon ...what a joke ...

Where are those "CSGO is dead" CSP-fans now, huh?!
2013-02-19 17:11:13
After Game-Evo was announced they crawled back into their smelly holes obviously.
2013-02-19 17:12:27
I don't think anyone has said that companys won't be overinvesting in to CS:GO initially to test the game out.

Viewership won't come, tournaments will disappear.
2013-02-19 18:44:15
Maybe, but unlike you i dont care what is going to happen in 1-2 years (obviously i care but since we are speaking about videogame-tournaments you should just live on present moment)

TL;DR i see CSGO, i wont see CSP :|
2013-02-20 17:13:37
I'm thinking long-term.
2013-02-20 17:49:42
obviously i care but since we are speaking about videogame-tournaments you should just live on present moment

If you want competitive FPS to die out in the near future, keep thinking like that.

If you want competitive FPS to get back to it's glory days, wrong attitude.

LoL, Dota2, SC2 .... im 100% sure we will still see those games in the future ( talking about at least 5 years ...). CS:GO? We will see next year ..as i've always said: 2013 will be an extremely important year for CSGOk, if it fucks up this year it will pretty much go down 2014-15 ....
2013-04-27 15:03:54
*sigh* Every time another CSGO tourney is announced Valve delays CSGO-Internationale for a year.
2013-02-19 17:24:44
Valve have said from the very start that they won't be hosting an International for CS:GO.
2013-02-19 17:29:38
there won't be a CSGO international. CS:GO doesn't have to compete with another competitive FPS = no need to invest unnecessary tons of money.
2013-04-27 15:05:33
dumb statement, CSGO is no where as big as dota..putting so much money in csgo would be a complete waste

I highly doubt csgo would get 600k concurrent viewers during the groupstage
