Na`Vi upset NiP in SLTV StarSeries V
Time: 2013-03-20 23:00
Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Natus Vincere has clawed their way back into the game after trailing 5-10 at half to defeat NiP 16-12 with an 11-2 counter-terrorist side on de_dust2_se in SLTV StarSeries V.

The match started with both sides trading rounds early on as NiP won the opening pistol but Na`Vi made them pay for their over-aggression on the following anti-save round which saw Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund push to death in the middle area.

Tied at five each a few rounds later the Swedes showed their standard Counter-Strike: Global Offensive form and started pulling away, eventually changing sides with a comfortable 10-5 lead.

Edward & co hand NiP their fifth online map loss

Now on the harder side of the map, the bootcamping Natus Vincere team wouldn't give up, and some important AWP shots by Yegor "markeloff" Markelov allowed the team to win eight straight rounds.

NiP mounted a comeback at 10-13 with two rounds of their own, Na`Vi were too determined to allow the Swedes back in and closed the door with three more rounds for a 16-12 win.

With Na`Vi bootcamping in Kiev and everyone but Richard "Xizt" Landström in the NiP game room of Inferno Online, the match definitely upps the ante coming into the weekend's TECHLABS Cup where both teams will be present.

na`vi also showed promise at lan (three map nailbiter overtime and 14-16 loss versus verygames) whereas n!faculty goes out in the group stage at lan.

like gtr said on nip stream's interview post-game, na`vi are always better on lan (although this counts as lan basically for them due to bootcamp), whereas a team like n!faculty is significantly weaker.

this doesn't prove nip is about to lose on lan or is getting worse, but it does prove what the eye test also confirms - na`vi is getting better all across the board.
2013-03-20 23:07:33
won't they both be on lan during the weekend with Virtus.Pro and ESC? I'm not sure if I remember it right

i think that will probably be the top five most people will agree on after copenhagen games, but it'd be unfair towards teams like western wolves to rank fnatic in the fop five without any lan performances.
2013-03-20 23:12:49
VG crushed esc so they are still top2
2013-03-20 23:18:38
read what i wrote i said not in order
2013-03-20 23:23:32
Ehh no? There is absolutely no reason to place fnatic that high up when they haven't proven to deserve top3 at any offline event yet, this is bogus. Placing teams so high just because of their reputation and online results does not mean shit. At this moment VG is placed 2nd BASED on lan results, which ESC, Na'Vi and especially fnatic can't compare to. If you have to make a list it should look something like this (assuming you only count those 5 teams as top5)

1. NiP
2. VG
3. Na'Vi
4. ESC
5. fnatic

Even though my list is inaccurate as well seeing that there is no way to know for sure before after CPH.
2013-03-20 23:18:54
read what i wrote i said not in order
2013-03-20 23:23:42
Ahh sorry bro, my bad, should have paid closer attention.. the list is probably inaccurate nevertheless.
2013-03-20 23:26:49
Don't forget about Virtus.pro. They have already proved that they are a strong team while fnatic haven't played a single match with the new lineup.
I'm talking about LAN performances, of course.

Western Wolves AKA ex-anexis are 110% in the top 5 lol. I would say NiP/VG/WW/ESC/ then 5th spot is open to Na'Vi/Fnatic/Quantic possibly and a few others.
2013-03-20 23:19:37
LOL????????????????????????????

WW/ESC better than NaVi or Anexis. Not sure if serious.
2013-03-20 23:22:02
not sure if stupid or trolling.
ESC 16:5 Anexis this week.
and you have to see na'vi beating ESC to say that they are better atm. not just hating ESC.
2013-03-20 23:28:06
Hmm? Western Wolves are the ex-Anexis guys... the Danish ones who came 2nd at Vienna... of course they are better than Na'Vi/British Anexis atm lol. ESC/Na'Vi I guess would be on a similar level currently, with ESC edging it imo.
2013-03-20 23:29:16
Hard to tell since they don't really play in any online leagues. The only top 10 team that WW beat at Vienna was verygames who were/are still adjusting with scream so their results are very random... what else have they achieved ?

Post edited 2013-03-20 23:40:50
2013-03-20 23:39:27
Well it isn't that hard to tell considering online leagues don't matter for all that much anyway. They beat Verygames 3 out of 4 maps while looking extremely strong and well drilled, and took NiP to 16-13 on LAN, which only a few other teams have managed to do.

By that logic though, you could say Na'Vi are not near the top 5, as the only decent team they beat at Vienna was n!faculty, but everybody knows they are a strong side fighting for a spot in the higher end of the ranking regardless of that fact. I do get the point you are making though, but I personally think it would be ridiculously to count WW out of the top 5 after that performance. Also not forgetting they did win the Danish HKLAN beating fnatic (albeit with a different lineup).

2013-03-20 23:45:57
Im not counting them out, just you can't say "of course they are better than Na'Vi/British Anexis atm lol" when we haven't seen them in action in nearly a month.. when these teams have clearly been improving a lot, Na'vi anyway.. Anexis will probably improve a ton before CPH tho. And that people are putting far too much weight on their second place at madcatz, considering the teams they played. The only top 10 teams we've seen them play were verygames and nip. After the next 3 or 4 weeks we'll get a much clearer picture of the top5 teams, there won't be any easy route at CPH.

That fnatic team at HKLAN were getting whooped by pretty much every top team in europe !

NiP are still #1 obviously..

after that...

ESC/VG/WW/VP/Na'vi/Fnatic and maybe Anexis are all contenders for a top5 spot for me.. Hell, even a couple of the US teams could be up there over the next few months. Will make for great viewing anyway !

stop the madness...

"...and took NiP to 16-13 on LAN..." nip was up 14-5 after starting on the much harder side.

are we really supposed to believe they didn't just stop trying as hard/lose focus/feel too comfortable with the win/take their foot off the pedal etc?

as far as i'm concerned anexis lost both maps in the final 16-5, and i'm pretty sure that's how nip feels as well. it wasn't ever close.
2013-03-21 15:50:28
"as far as i'm concerned anexis lost both maps in the final 16-5" You talk so much dribble I don't even know why I am bothering to reply to you. They clawed back, and got a result of 16-13, whatever you assume or think is based on the biased nonsense that you spew out all over your twitter and this website.

by: lurppis - HLTV.org

because unlike you i have actually been in that situation before and if i'm up 14-5 i feel comfortable. if i hit gamepoint at 15-9 i feel comfortable.

you might start to worry a bit at 15-13, but they were *NEVER* even remotely close to winning a map, whereas teams like curse could have legitimately beaten nip on lan before.
2013-03-21 16:32:13
I assume you mean on lan playing for prize money and up 14-5, otherwise that's a ridiculous statement.

Regardless of that, I do understand what you are saying, it wasn't like the ESC game where they were on the brink of taking a map off NiP and then threw it away, but they still did extremely well to get to that point, and destroy VeryGames on 3 maps.

It would be silly to assume WW are not in the top 5 at the moment though, if that is what you are trying to prove at least.

what i meant is playing an important match at a lan tournament with prestige/money etc. on the line.

i never suggested ww isn't one of the top teams (in fact i posted in this same news' comments stating they currently are).

all i'm saying is they were not at all close to taking a map from nip. the score is extremely misleading.
2013-03-21 16:41:09
I think the 'new' Anexis will replace one of those pretty soon if not already.
2013-03-20 23:41:02
Already? Really?
2013-03-21 02:04:27
Yes, already. They faced NIP on nuke and it was a super close match. 14-16. As far as i've been told Anexis haven't trained that much yet, meaning that they will definitely be in the top5 soon.

And as they're already performing this well against NIP, it wouldn't suprise me if they were already in the top5.
2013-03-22 01:32:06

Are you fo real mentioning n!faculty? The team who rapes online and gets raped on lan? :) Lemondogs did fairly good aswell, so did aL (since youre going back months in time just to find a decent faculty result) :)

Go play tibia or something stupid saucer
2013-03-20 23:57:14
nfaculty may be good online but on lan they suck, yet they dont cheat online, and to be honest, would you really think that you'd see nfaculty anywhere near on the top of the starseries of example, may kick out faith or some other bad team and then nfaculty in. They'd never reach the top 4, not even online.
Teams getting better :)

2013-03-20 23:22:55

2013-03-21 00:20:57

2013-03-21 07:47:36
Sure they were basically on LAN, but LAN means a lot more than being connected to a local server. It's the atmosphere, being able to tackle any team at any stage, the crowd/audience, knowing you have to have strata for every map in at least a bo3.. Different CPU settings/dpi/mouse/all that jazz. It's different

"Different CPU settings/dpi/mouse/all that jazz. It's different" kay
2013-03-21 05:54:25
i hope you realise that in the bootcamp they play with their preferred pc's , don't have anyone behind yelling and shouting , so practically they play better and more calm.

cant wait to cphgames!!!!!
2013-03-20 23:19:29
whats going on with nip lately (online)? They look vulnerable
2013-03-20 23:25:26
natural process, other teams closing the gap.
soon they will fall on LAN also and we'll have a more interesting scene.
2013-03-20 23:28:46
edward insane lol
2013-03-20 23:26:40
troll threads everywhere LOL
2013-03-20 23:28:22
very nice match, gg both teams.
2013-03-20 23:28:42
Things starting to look entertaining finally :)
wp Na`Vi I guess :)
Soon enough my prediction dating 4 months back, that Na`Vi will be the one to take a map off of NiP at lan will be fulfilled :P
2013-03-20 23:34:26
top5 of the world consist of
1.NiP
2.VG
3.NA'VI
4.ESC
5.VP/fnatic
2013-03-20 23:35:52
Anexis will take over one of those spots pretty soon :)
2013-03-20 23:44:19
ex Anexis are most likely to do that
2013-03-20 23:49:15
New Anexis has equal chances and I believe they will.
2013-03-22 01:32:36
nip,
esc/vg,
navi/fnatic

Navi isn't top3
2013-03-20 23:46:30
na`vi already #1
2013-03-20 23:49:25
-fnatic
+Anexis
2013-03-20 23:52:56
fnatic >>>>>> Anexis
2013-03-20 23:58:02
im no esc fanboy but i dont think navi should be ranked higher than them
2013-03-21 03:36:30
dude......

1. NIP
2-3.VG/WW (old anexis)
4. ESC
5. VP/navi
2013-03-21 12:45:01
good match for the Na'Vi
2013-03-20 23:38:14
nice navi ;)
2013-03-20 23:39:08
good job navi
2013-03-20 23:43:18
NiP won't win a thing when Na'Vi and ESC get in shape. By now every team should be focusing the zones fifflaren covers, the guy has been getting carried hard for quite a while now.
2013-03-20 23:43:46
+1 ;-)
2013-03-21 03:30:13
You really need to give up......
2013-03-21 08:39:41
Well played Na'vi, I thought Anexis were going to do it the other day.
2013-03-20 23:47:51
that was so frustrating to watch...
2013-03-20 23:49:13
wp Na`Vi

so for now n!,ESC and Na`Vi who beat NiP :D
2013-03-20 23:51:44
waiting for VeryGames improvement..
Scream will dominate everybody :)
2013-03-20 23:58:57

StarLadder 5 Finals 05.04-07.04
RC EMS One Finals 13.04-14.04
ESEA 13 Finals 18.04-21.04

every week lan event, fucking hard!
2013-03-21 00:16:39
If you look at the locations:

Russia
Denmark
Ukraine
Germany
United States

It's crazy and awesome!
2013-03-21 01:01:34
i think by the end of april we would be able to rank top5 accurately

cant wait for esea finals myself, gonna be a blast watching NA vs EU
2013-03-21 03:37:21

2013-03-21 08:39:52

2013-03-21 05:55:19
Nice match :)
2013-03-21 00:18:33
4 teams 1.6 in top 5

GL Css

hahahaha
2013-03-21 00:19:01
Drunk?

Nip = mix Team

ESC/Navi = 1.6

VG/Western wolves ( EX Anexis ) = CSS

2013-03-21 00:24:22
fnatic >>>>> WW
2013-03-21 01:12:19
NiP is carried by the three 1.6 players, the other 2 can come from a Gunbound background for all I care. Not to take merit from friberg who is a good player but you change the 1.6 players of NiP and they wouldn't be top 20 in sweden.
2013-03-21 03:34:07
are you seriously that blind, 1.6 fanboy?

if you still haven't noticed that friberg is topping the scoreboard very often and is one of the best players in the game, there's no hope for you pal.
2013-03-21 17:50:33
nope, friberg might not suck as much as fifflaren but he's easily replaceable while no one can replace Xizt, f0rest or GTR.
2013-03-21 18:42:55
NiP= 1.6(the 2 best fragers and the IGL are from 1.6)
ESC/NAVI=1.6
fnatic = 1.6 (stinger used to play 1.6 so i dont care)
mousesports will destroy everything in their next lan aswell
virtus pro = 1.6
znation = 1.6
2013-03-21 05:57:01
All have been played 1.6, also ppl from CSS.

Just shh
2013-03-21 12:47:00
fiflaren could not die 15 times in 16 rounds of defeats
2013-03-21 00:24:12
gg guess they need to replace xizt
2013-03-21 00:25:43
Yeah man that's the solution, and if they replace him they'll never lose an online match again :-D
2013-03-21 00:35:25
hope youre trolling.... his results as IGL in fnatic and then NIP show how good he is

its a troll bait to all those ppl who make threads about nip replacing fiff/friberg after every match
2013-03-21 03:38:14
it's a troll bait to all those idiots who don't have brain. (like hest1)

2013-03-21 00:44:15
imo, prove to me with a stats page that makes me wrong but i think nip loses/plays a close game when friberg isn't playing well. goes to show you how important a good entry fragger is to NiP
2013-03-21 00:48:53
grats
2013-03-21 00:50:07
1.6 players 2 strong
2013-03-21 01:01:13
When saucers don't carry NiP lose. Sauce > 1.6
2013-03-21 01:09:42
It was 16-12 cuz of 1.6 players. The day when NiP start depending on their 2 sAucers will be the day when NiP start losing to Xisco's team.
2013-03-21 03:33:20
one word: fifflaren

2013-03-21 01:47:28
gj Navi, NiP loose yeaaaah :3
PS fifflaren and friberg is useless :D
2013-03-21 01:50:34
As for now nip,vg,esc are the top3 teams. Im sure though navi and fnatic will catch up and when nip starts losing maps on lan and after that events and it will happen they will recruit 1.6 players for sure and will release the css ones.remember that
2013-03-21 02:08:43
ahahah gj :D
2013-03-21 02:15:35
Who wants to get NIP will win cph games and madcatz?
2013-03-21 02:23:54
Those shots by markeloff at short uffff
2013-03-21 02:57:48
Now NAVI won against NiP and everyone is saying GG and WP NAVI. But when other teams won against NiP, they always says NiP just give the win? Now eat your words kid. CSGO scene now is more competitive than last year ;)
2013-03-21 02:59:36
So, new top 3
1) Na`Vi
2) ESC
3) NIP
2013-03-21 03:21:49
Expected.
2013-03-21 03:36:12
Here we GO !
2013-03-21 03:55:53

Go Go Go ! :D

<3
2013-03-21 04:14:02
Haha sweet!!
2013-03-21 05:22:24
All this means is that de_dust2_se will be vetoed by every team ever playing against Na'Vi, and all of a sudden they're back to being a below top5 team
2013-03-21 05:33:17
shut up clueless things doesnt work that way
2013-03-21 05:58:14
Uhm, yes.. that's how vetoing for BO1 would play out - if it's a BO3 they could of course end up with dust2 as their one map, but they'd still lose the two other maps.
2013-03-21 07:53:38
their train is great too
2013-03-21 11:14:03
True, it is, but it's not close to their dust2
2013-03-21 11:23:24
well not my favorites to be honest, but congratz NaVi would love to see beating NiP on lan (doesnt matter which team will do it:>)

Edward beast!
2013-03-21 06:57:18
Now its fnatic time to beat NiP !!!
2013-03-21 07:18:38
If Na`Vi can beat somebody online then they DEFINITELY can beat them on LAN aswell!
2013-03-21 07:37:32

2013-03-21 10:12:26
gg Na`Vi!!
2013-03-21 10:13:35
I am happy for Na`Vi, but this is online you know, says not so much for me.
Let us wait for Techlabs and CPH, believe Na`Vi will be able to do some damage there.

LOL would be fucking awesome to see NiP and 3 CIS teams at LAN finals.
2013-03-21 10:24:22
it's funny, when teams like n!faculty and ex-SY_b beat NiP already, but haven't got that much of attention (there were many replies as this was just 1 match and so on...), but when navi have defeated swedes in bo1 online, everyone just goes crazy ^^
2013-03-21 10:28:11
Xizt -8, KICK HIM NOW!

ok thats esc and faculty? they didnt get any news and were the first (not cheating) team beating nip

western wolves were actually the first one (and there was a post about esc beating them as the two guys above you already pointed out).

i went back and looked at it, and the reason n!faculty didn't get a post is because the match took place on a worldwide holiday so both me and miraa were out and therefore unable to post.

sorry to smash your conspiracy theory, but it simply doesn't have any truth to it. maybe esl should schedule their online cups to not take place on major holidays?
2013-03-21 16:00:47
lurrpis is mad, dont like sweden :D

1. nip

the rest is totally random. everyone can beat everyone.

Well that was quite obvious that as soon as ex-1.6 champions like Na'Vi and ESC gets used to CS:GO they will give a good fight to NiP and eventually kick them from their comfort zone as the best "unbeatable" team.
2013-03-21 15:34:06
